Ideal location to explore Paris with large rooms and friendly staff

    rating24 Jul 2025

I had a great stay in Paris at Hotel Meslay Republique. Staff were very friendly and helpful and all spoke great English which I was grateful for. The hotel is ideally central with 5/13 metro lines available 200m away, and 10 mins walk to both bustling dining hubs Canal Saint Martin and Le Marais, bursting with lively restaurants and cafes.Rooms are a lot larger than other hotels I've stayed at in Paris. I had a bath (great for hand washing during my 5 night stay) and balcony for a very reasonable price. Decor is outdated but I expected this from reviews so wasn't an issue. Clean room and bathroom, with a comfortable bed. Kettle and fridge in the room (which I specifically looked when researching hotels) and for the warmer nights, a pedestal fan was provided.I am not a breakfast person so opted out and as an early riser, the Starbucks a block away was a godsend for an early morning stroll along the canal before the rest of the city was out and about.Like other Paris hotels, guest are encouraged to leave room keys with reception when heading out for the day/evening. This is totally normal.Being in central Paris, there was likely traffic and street noise throughout the night but I always travel with earplugs and didn't hear anything. If this hotel had been renovated, I have no doubt it would be well outside my budget. A full 5 stars for my 3 star expectations.

    Great

Decent hotel for central Paris costing just over 100 a night. The hotel is close to the République Square and has lots of shops and Cafes around. The street that it is up is not the most desirable but it was extremely quiet, especially at night. The hotel itself is very traditional and quite dated, but I actually found it quite authentic, the room was a good size and incredibly clean. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I would imagine the room would be quite hot in summer as even in March, I found it very warm. did not have breakfast so can’t comment. Would definitely stay here again.

    Did not sleep all night

    rating12 Sept 2024

I stayed in this hotel last weekend and it was not a good experience. The decor is very dated which was fine as this is what the photos portrayed. Old scratchy blankets on the beds. Staff are helpful and pleasant. The room was extremely hot even though the weather was not very hot at night. There was an old noisy fan to cool down which was very noisy and kept me awake, so I opened the window and it was extremely noisy on the street, I did not sleep all night. Which ruined my sightseeing for the next day.The room was over 220 euros for one night which is outrageous for the tiny room that was provided for three people. I did not get any sleep and when I complained the next day I was advised I got a good price for central Paris!I wish I had gone for a cheaper hotel in a less central area which would have been better than this one, was happy to leave after one night. Very overpriced for what was offered.

    Kind staff and cozy rooms

    rating15 Jul 2024

The staff were extremely kind. Me and my sister got to practice using the french we've learnt previously in school, and they got happy when we spoke french. It encouraged us to keep on trying to speak french. The rooms were small but very cozy. The beds were comfortable, and our room was clean and tidy when we came back.I would definitely recommend going here!I would love to come back to this hotel ❤️😊

Nice but would not go back especially in summer

    rating07 Jul 2023

Very kind staff and well situated hotel. Sadly no airco so room became very hot. Suggest skip breakfast and eat in a local cafe. Very clean- attentive breakfast room lady and cleaner. Nights were noisy as the bustling area of republique is near. Two steps from the metro. Price rather high for this kind of hotel. 149 per night without breakfast.
