Good location. Friendly staff. The hotel has dark decor, is dated and needs alot of repair work.

    In need of renovation

    rating01 Dec 2025

After much research my spouse and I chose Hôtel Villa d’Estrées for its location in our favorite neighborhood, St Germaine de Près. It’s located on a relatively quiet small street a couple of blocks from the Seine. Online it seemed like a decent value for great location at a 4 star hotel. However the physical condition of the property leaves a lot to be desired. Everywhere you look there is hard wear and tear: chipped paint, walls, bathroom fixtures, threadbare upholstery, stains even on our room’s couch. The room’s carpet looked to be in dire need of a deep cleaning. There was trash left in stairwell all four days of our stay. Dingy was the word that kept coming to mind. For 450€ a night, there was a startling lack of amenities: one container of liquid soap in bathroom—so you better not forgot to move soap from sink to shower, shampoo only/no conditioner, not even one bottle of water. Breakfast is served across the street in a tiny room. Even if half full, it’s difficult to move and access laid out items; nor was there much selection. Renovation is underway; we heard construction noise every weekday. So we had no quiet on the rainy afternoon we took off from sightseeing. When we calmly registered our complaints and disappointed and offered a solution, we were told not possible and no gesture was offered. So we scoped other properties to try on our next visit

Great location, but room left a couple things to be desired

    rating04 Sept 2025

Amazing location, close to the Louvre, Notre Dame and many other sights. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. In a quiet portion of the city and a nice breakfast included. However, the room was lacking a few ways. First, the A/C in the room was not capable of keeping the room cold, second, one of the light fixtures in the room was broken and hanging off the wall, and third, the mattress was far too thin and hard.

Avoid Unless Location Is All You Care About

    rating01 Aug 2025

This review is not to criticize the staff, they were as kind as can be. But let’s be honest: this hotel is NOWHERE NEAR 4 stars. If anything, it’s barely hanging on as a 1- to 2-star property, and only the location keeps it from being a total nightmare. The hotel is extremely outdated. The walls, the elevators, the furniture — everything is worn and tired. There’s a lingering smell of sewage throughout the building, and even the mirrors and surfaces look cloudy and aged. Our bathtub looked dirty when we checked in, and the water heater setup is a hazard. The knob is old and unpredictable — the water came out scorching hot, I nearly flooded the entire bathroom trying not to burn myself! It gets worse: there was mold inside the hair dryer, and the bed sheets had visible stains. Yes you read that right — stained sheets at a “4-star” hotel. Nothing about the room felt clean or cared for.Breakfast is served in a building across the street, which is currently under construction. Needless to say, we skipped it after the first glance. Not the kind of peaceful Parisian breakfast experience one hopes for. Also important: DO NOT prepay. They have a strict no-refund policy, even if you want to leave early for valid reasons. This hotel desperately needs a serious full renovation, not just a cosmetic update. Until then, it shouldn’t be marketed as anything beyond a 1 star property. The fact that it’s portrayed as a 4-star is honestly absurd. The only saving grace is the location. You’re steps from the Seine, close to Notre-Dame, Saint-Germain, and so many great restaurants and shops. That’s the only reason this wasn’t a completely terrible stay. If this were listed as a budget 2-star, maybe the condition would be expected — but at 4 stars? Absolutely not.

Whoever rated this hotel as 4 stars should be fired.

    rating08 Jun 2025

Whoever rated this hotel 4 stars should be fired. The gentlemen at the desk were 5 star caliber but the hotel is a 1 star, 2 stars if you're being very generous. All 3 of our rooms were quite shabby, dirty carpet in rooms, and had sewage smell. Breakfast was fairly good, however. But the hotel itself is not even close to 4 stars. My friends had trouble agreeing it was a 1 star. I've never in all my bookings online been so let down by a hotel.
