Good value budget hotel: what you see is what you get

    rating14 Jun 2025

This budget hotel gives you exactly what you pay for: a very simple, comfortable, secure, air conditioned room in a well- maintained hotel near Fontainebleau station. The reception is staffed in the morning and late afternoon - and if you can speak French and are polite to the staff, then they are extremely helpful in return. We brought our own pillows because we are fussy about those, and were happy to have done so. The bunk bed slept a third adult very comfortably. Breakfast was also very good value - and ends at 1030 on the dot. Useful vending machine with water, soda and snacks; it only accepts change - no notes or cards.Overall highly recommended.

It was the first ever hotel I have used with self-check-in... and its a pain.. You need your paperwork and any mistake, you could spend 30mins trying to figure it out... Basic room with the usual concussion shelf bunk bed, simple is the word.Easy location next to a grocery store so why buy their breakfasts of the usual EU food?Be warned this place accepts dogs and the walls are thin. I was kept awake by what I thought was some pretty hearty horny gymnastics well into the night and maybe it was but when the wall started banging again at 6am, my patience cracked.. turns out it was a dog's tail banging the paper thin wall... funny now but not at the time!

    Limited services

No 24/7 onsite receptionist with limited English skills so luggage storage is out of the option. Service is on par, room is okay with a bit thin wall but you get what you paid for. Location is nice with plenty of parking and close to the bus stop.

Rude staff put me off from staying again

    rating06 Jul 2022

I had never stayed at the Ibis before, and the check in experience was quite positive. The room was a bit small but it was quiet and modern and felt nice. However, I discovered early on that there is no kettle in the room and so if you want a cup of tea of coffee you have to go downstairs. The machine is in the dining room but you are not allowed to enter unless it is for breakfast. The door is not locked and there are no signs, but if you enter you rate told off rudely by the very officious staff. Apparently only they can use the machine. I dutifully did what I was told and queued at reception every every to get some hot water for tea. One evening the staff member was not there. I made the mistake of entering the open dining room to get water myself. Suddenly he appeared and demanded rudely that I leave the room immediately. He told me that I had to go to reception. I suggested that he wasn’t there and he told me rudely that he was. In a country of poor customer service, this interaction was special! I have cancelled my next booking and will stay in the Mercure instead. They are really quite nice there. So if you want to sleep in a small room and be watched in case you steal some hot water in a paper cup….best avoided.
