  Very nice and clean hotel

  Very nice hotel. The room was very clean and it was hot at night.Staff were vey polite and helpfull. The hotel offers breakfast (extra charge or if you choose when you make your booking) which was great buffet style. And has also a restaurant with tasty food (pizza, burger, pasta etc).Metro is 2 minutes away and Nation Metro is less than 10 minutes by feet.I highly recommend the hotel.

  Not a Pleasant Experience

  I stayed at this hostel for several days in September. I reserved a ‘private’ room and I was devastated upon seeing my accommodations. The ‘private’ room felt more like a coffin. It was more like one room that was subdivided into two, one maybe a 7 inch ‘mattress’ on a wood panel platform on the floor, a mirror and a very small wood table. So where the ‘bed’ was you couldn’t stand up because right above you was someone else. No windows, no air conditioning, no fan, just nothing and god forbid there was a fire you were basically done. Communal bathrooms were filthy. It wasn’t a cheap stay either. Food was subpar. It was very loud at night. I was extremely disappointed. This was a last minute decision to stay here and I would never stay there again. I made the best of it by getting up as early as possible and getting out of there and staying out as late as possible.   Overall good value for the price, some things to consider.

  Overall good value for price. I stayed in a 6-bed room for a week and basically only slept there and it was okay: Obviously, it depends on your roommates but I had no big issues. Most of them came to their rooms at around midnight which made going to sleep earlier difficult though (consider a sleep mask and ear plugs). Communication was limited, but a fair amount of visitors seem to speak English and the staff does as well.The location worked well for me: from the Gentilly station you are in the city center in around 15 minutes. If you get off at the Cité Universitaire which is within walking distance instead, I recommend the nearby parks. Directly next to the Hostel is a burger restaurant, a bakery and a kebap place, you do not have to walk too far for other options. I did not try the food at the bar because it seemed fairly expensive.Clean-ish: My room was clean, but I found shards of pringles under my mattress and the bathrooms were not spotless either.In my room, there were two toilets and two showers, separated in tiny rooms, I never had to wait. The shower rooms however are too small: Think about 1m x 1m with a sink in there too - there is no space to change in private or put on clean clothes. You get a spacious locker (remember to bring a padlock). The locker did not seem to be particularly secure so I always took my valuables with me when leaving the room. This may have been unnessary, but I heard a story about someone having everything stolen there so I did not want to risk it.There is a room at the top with a microwave and a toaster oven if you want to bring your own food (open until 22:30). It also has a washing machine and a dryer (5€ and 3€). The terrace was closed when I was there. I did not spent much time in the common areas, but it is large and others seemed to be enjoying it. Not a definite recommendation, but I would consider going there again if I were to travel to Paris again.   We just wanted to leave a review for the friendly and welcoming Mernes- he made the end of our trip to Paris enjoyable and went above and beyond to make a cocktail for us he wasn't familiar with- it was delicious!!   Okay stay, accommodations could be better.

  The stay was okay: quick check-in, cool looking hallways. Two big negatives: there’s only a single, tiny, windowless room that’s often occupied where you can eat. No food allowed in rooms. Also, fair warning though ik this is common, you have to make your own bed - for me it was fine, but I can imagine someone checking in late and having to deal with that in the dark while their dorm is sleeping - not ideal. The beds had curtains but mine was broken and honestly they don’t seem to be cleaned well, though the rest of the bedding was clean. Pillow was thin/uncomfortable, but dorm was silent and mattress okay, so I slept well and have no major complaints. Bathrooms are shared by the floor and are pretty clean. Overall, for 40€ a night, even in Paris, I’d expect a little more.
