    good value Paris bolt hole

    rating21 Mar 2026

the hotel is in the same district as the train station , about a 10 minute walk . the hotel is absolutely fine for a Paris stay , with the centre a bus ride away which costs 2 euros each way . the breakfast was good. rooms were small but not surprising for the price. the hotel is good value . we requested a top floor room which was quiet. the area around the hotel has a lot of immigrants / homeless people which some may find intimidating. We didnt see any problems or issues with them and locals just went about their daily routine as if they werent there.

Great hotel in a not so great location

    rating16 Mar 2026

Great value hotel with clean and modern rooms. We didn’t hear too much noise outside at night and the hotel staff were very helpful. It was a 10 euro cost to leave our bags on our departure day. Not too long a walk to Sacre Coeur and Montmatre but a lot further to other main areas. We didn’t use the metro but we used many of the taxi companies which were good.I would advise against walking anywhere in this area, especially at night and on your own, as it felt extremely unsafe. If you're booking through Eurostar be sure to check the trip advisor reviews not just the reviews on the Eurostar website, I didn’t and if I had I probably wouldn’t have chosen this hotel from the numerous negative reviews commenting on the location.

I felt safe (inside) the hotel as apposed to leaving the hotel

The Hotel & staff were absolutely fabulous ,excellent. 10/10 Unfortunately - I’m sad to say it was a different senario when venturing outside the hotel in this neighbourhood, hotel is near Marx dormoy & la chapelle which have probably been described as sketchy & edgy .I always felt scared & on edge leaving the hotel.

    Terrible neighbourhood

    rating23 Oct 2025

I would say this hotel was adequate, if not for the neighbourhood. This was a mother-daughter city break with my 11-year-old. The hotel is in a run-down "migrant" district with homelessness, dodgy men hanging about on street corners and some selling cigarettes, and with a "tent city" within 5 minutes walk. Local shops/restaurants are not French. I did not feel at ease walking to/ from the hotel and would advise women and families with children to avoid it. Otherwise- Pros:-Close proximity to a few different metro stops-17 minute walk from Gare du Nord-25 minute walk from Sacre Coeur/Montmartre tourist district-Room is mostly clean & nicely presented-Staff are nice(Again- I would call it 'adequate/acceptable' if the location differed)Cons:-Neighbourhood from hell-The breakfast room is too small and crowded. Continental (included with our Eurostar package- otherwise would not be worth the money when you could go to a patisserie instead)-Paper-thin walls and windows-Lots of noise from street (migrant men chatting on corner outside their restaurant, etc)-Our door didn't close properly and had to be forced shut. I think we accidentally slept with it ajar the first night (room 102). The bathroom door was also tricky/jammy.-Hotel charges for left luggage (5 euros on arrival; 10 on check-out), which feels very inhospitable. I don't know if this is typical in Paris, but in other European cities it is typically gratis.-Modern-looking bathroom, but shower is one of those open ones where the water floods the entire bathroom- A couple of stray hairs (not ours) on bathroom wall.

    Vile

Hotel has only one good point. It is clean. But Please, Please, Please avoid this hotel if you don’t want to put your self or your family at risk. Yes the rooms are very small, with poor sound proofing but believe me that will be the least of your problems. There are hundreds of migrants / young men all living / hanging out in front of and along the whole route from Gare du Nord to this hotel and believe me we tried different routes, even the taxis weren’t completely comfortable going along these streets. Day or night they try to intimidate you, they urinate, defecate and be sick all over the streets, even while you are passing by.They are fighting, swearing, drinking and taking drugs. They sit on a wall right in front of the hotel. They have tents in some places or just mattresses on the floor where they will just roll to the edge of the mattress and urinate so don’t get too close. They wash some parts of the streets down at night but the smell is still horrendous. If you travel to Paris via the Eurostar you will soon come into contact with things that will offend or even shock you. There are hundreds living in the streets of Paris Lone travellers should never walk around by themselves.
