    A restaurant to avoid

    rating12 Apr 2026

So far, the hotel itself seems good, I am only writing about our experience in the restaurant tonight. The food was absolutely awful. 2 of us had fish, whose taste wasn’t too bad, but whose texture was rubbery. The other person had a goat’s cheese dish which was covered in what seemed like the candy floss one gets in a fairground, but with a worse taste even that that. I had apple pie - the filo pastry had been microwaved to the point where it was hard to get a knife through and was inedible. At one point we asked for more bread and were told ‘it was cooking’. When eventually it arrived it had not been cooked, rather thawed from frozen. The centres were very cold! There was a very very long wait for the food as well. Best course is to avoid! olivier Boulch, at Mercure Paris porte de Pantin, responded to this review Dear Julia N,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent dining experience at our hotel. I am pleased to learn that you found the hotel satisfactory; however, I regret to hear that the restaurant did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide our guests with a pleasant culinary experience, and it is clear that we fell short of this promise during your visit. Your comments and observations help us improve.Once again, we thank you for your remarks, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future to demonstrate our commitment to quality.Sincerely,Hôtel Mercure Paris Porte de Pantin

This was a lovely two-night stay. The staff our late arrival, to the breakfast staff, to the reception desk staff. All were courteous and went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast was really good, the shower lovely. It has elegant decor in the communal areas and a nice relaxed ambience. Thank you for making our stay in Paris memorable and lovely. Barbara

    Highly recommend

Had an amazing 3 night stay in the hotel. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We checked in over half an hour early and we were able to leave our luggage in the store room when we checked out so we could enjoy our last few hours in Paris, minus our luggage. Our room was very comfortable, had everything we needed. The atmosphere downstairs was lovely. Although didn’t have much time to sit around as we had a lot of exploring to do. All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

Sad place, cheap hotel (in the worst dense of the word cheap)

    rating18 Oct 2024

Terrible. Stinks in the hallway. Room is filled with the cheapest furniture ever. Shower doesn’t work, mold everywhere . Like a room from the 70m’s that’s never been changed. And they made us pay 270 in total! There are plenty of better hotels in Paris.

Very basic hotel that should be rated three stars.

Spending 60 to 80 nights a year in Accor hotels and being an All loyalty member, I can compare hotels. Ibis, Adagio, Novotel, Pullman and Sofitel usually don't differ much in quality whereveryou go. Mercure does have more independent properties that differ a lot. The Mercure Porte de Pantin is definitely more of an Ibis than of a Novotel, although the desk is from wood instead of plastic. For €108 a night outside the Paris centre zone, I had expected more. Only one of the elevators was working and there was a notice on it that this would continue throughout the month of May. The room (414) is one of the smallest I have ever been in, smaller than in an average Ibis. For the first time in a least 50 stays, not counting Ibis, because they don't have different room types, my loyalty status didn't get me upgraded to a privileged room or even a superior one. And a classic room in this hotel really is basic. The floor if the room was not clean. When I came out of the bathroom and wanted to get on my socks, I noticed long hairs and dust on my soles, although I had just showered. And having to pick a piece of used chewing gum from the carpet didn't make me happy either. If you sit down on the toiletseat, your knees are against the wall. The showerhead disperses water left and right and could not be raised because an attachment was broken, but not to the middle where my body was. The sink of the washing basin was clogged and the water didn't get away.Still, with two more night to go. I will score this hotel as (barely) passable. The bed is comfortable and that is important for a good nights sleep. I did get a voucher for a free drink ant the bar that has decent beers on draught. The staff is acting in a professional manner and speaks decent English. And although this hotel is not in the centre, it is close to a metrostop (Houche) with a good connection to the city centre. The neighbourhood is very rough and multicultural, but this doesn't bother me. So, there are some positive points as well.
