    An ok hotel

    rating21 Nov 2025

The reason I am giving a 3 star review it’s because there were a few issues with this hotel , The hotel itself is easy to access as it is not on a main road. When we arrived at the hotel, even though we had paid for us to stay in full, we were asked to leave €150 deposit. Along with a €22 city tax. We were told that the deposit would be paid back to us on the day of checkout. Also there is only one left at the hotel that works at the moment and as it’s an old building the left also is quite old and only holds three people maximum if you are small. There are times when we would wait 10 minutes for the lift to come as it was busy taking customers up and down from there level levels to whatever level they were going to.On the day we were leaving we asked about the deposit and we were told that after the room was checked the deposit would be given to us the next day. I raise an issue with this and made a point in telling them that it did not make sense for them to pay us a deposit When we are not there also how would we know that damage was not done on purpose after we lead in order for the deposit to be kept they sent somebody up to check the room and told us that there was no damage of course and that they would pay the deposit back on the day There was also something I noticed when I returned back home one of my quite expensive oil sprays was missing , at the time I didn’t notice as we did not spend that much time at the hotel however when I got home and unpacked, I noticed that one of my items was missing I’m not accusing anybody of anything but it does seem suspicious. Most of the reception staff and cleaning staff and catering staff were kind and nice. But I would warn anybody visiting here to be aware of the deposit situation and not to leave your suitcases unlocked.

    DIRTY HOTEL & DANGEROURS AREA!

    rating05 Jul 2024

The hotel needs closing down period!!Agoda the middleman is not even accepting the problems while I suffer with bedbug bites for now 2wks since returning back to England. The Hotel surrounding area is very very dirty and run down dangerous zone no go area, lots of drug users and homeless drunk hanging around from the late afternoon, a taxi can not drive right to the door due to road bollards, so one still has to walk it to the hotel arriving late at night or the early dark days of the winter months. These are the highlights I have raised to Agoda/Hotel Mondial below. THE OYLIMPICS IS A SHORT TIME AWAY, ANYONE THINKING OF BOOKING HOTEL MONDIAL SHOULD AVOID AT ALL COST AND SAVE YOURSELF THE PAIN AS THE HOTEL WILL IGNORE THE PROBLEMS YOU FACE AND FOB YOU OFF WITH NO REFUND EVEN PARTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!I wish to further express my very poor experiences at the Hotel Mondail Paris. I strongly believe the hotel was not fit for letting rooms and the conditions with all the building works going on in the hotel that added to my bad experience of no air condition working both in the room and the bathroom. I am still suffering from the bites and have been given further tablets (Prednisolone 5mg) which were prescribe on the 1st and now the 5th July following the awful bed bug bites.I see from your last email, the negotiate with supplier/hotel on several occasions have failed, believe to be the in denial of the hotel taking responsibility of its not just poor hygiene but dangerous heath and safety of its guests by putting them at health and safety risks.Have risks assessments monitoring and control being carried out in at Hotel Modial, as clearing my proof of photos will deny this?? This exposes a hospitality electrical safety and compliance risks!! A health and safety environ officer should have closed this hotel under the conditions I have witnessed. Agoda as third party platform should not be advertising such hotel businesses that are not fit for guests. It was an implied term of our contract that the accommodation provided would be of a standard of cleanliness and quality reasonably to be expected from this type and price of hotel. Please see the high light key points below to the problems Face with the hotel during y stay.Agoda It also an implied term that the service provided would be done so with the reasonable care and skills required by the supply of goods and services Act 1982/Consumers Rights Act 2015.)Therefore you are in breach of the contract. As such I am legally entitled to receive compensation from you. In consequence I am claiming the sum of £**** 1. Strong smell of vomit combined with damp and no fresh air or breathable air. The hotel gave an air humidifier but this was so slow working in terms of it speed to clean the air of anything or the even the smell which remained throughout my stay. Each time I entered the room I would smell all of the vomit smells again!! making me literately feel sick) 2. The windows would not open due to broken curtains, once the hotel fixed the curtains, yet still the windows would not open with the curtains closed. It was extremely hot weather and wanted to keep the room shaded (dark) to keep the room cool especially as their air con was not working and the small mini fan desk didn’t keep the room cool hardly. During the night it was so difficult to sleep as it was way too hot, couldn’t open the windows too much as I didn’t wanted any flies coming in etc. so was stuck with this unbearable condition! 3. Extremely stained soaked carpets in the room and throughout the 1st floor leading to all the guests rooms on all levels. The carpets were so old and dirty with hundreds of stains filled in the carpets. 4. Air condition in room and bathroom was not working,(Hotel reception had informed me that the air con had been switched off manually due to contractors repairs and building works going on in the other part to the hotel wing. The bathroom would steam up so much, that it became difficult to even see where I was going when stepping out of the shower (Built in the Bath tub)! This was highly dangerous and could have easily caused a trips/fall or serious injury as I have arthritis in both my hands and knees. 5. The toilet flash button was broken that the whole large tab flash button box had to apply a lot of pressure to flash the toilet chain, very unhygienic! With my arthritis in my hands it was very difficult to do this at times. I had reported this to the receptionist and they said they will fix this after having checked the problem themselves but no one came to fix the problem and this remained unfixed throughout my stay. 6. The electric kettle was broken to the point were the top part of the kettle was coming apart exposing the inside if the wires. I only spotted this when I had put the kettle to boil and the kettle was not switching off on auto and the steam was covering the whole dressing table mirror and the room too was then getting filled, with steam, I quickly went over to stop the kettle from the main switch as at this point the kettle was way to hot to switch off the button from the actual kettle itself. Once the kettle was cooled, I tried to check why this had napped and could see to my horror the kettle was exposing its internal wires and the whole plastic from handle to lid was not fused together and falling apart!. The next morning I informed the receptionist of the kettle, the gave me a ceramic teapot and advised me to fill up the hot water from the breakfast room to take to my room as they did not have another spare electric kettle. It was as if the hotel was not equip/updated to even a reasonable health and safety standard level of the 21st century ( 2024) as I was faces all these problems with the hotel. 7. I had asked for an iron and ironing broad but the hotel advised me to iron on the bed as they don’t do iron broads. This made it so difficult to iron from a bed that I would be sleeping on later. It was very difficult to iron bending my knees and back just to iron. This is not normal practice under hotel health and safety act to use a bed to do ironing especially in a hotel one would never expect this!! 8. On 2nd day my body was filled with these awful painful bites all over my body, had to visit the local chemist to seek medical help. I had seen a bug that morning on the bed, and presented the photos to the chemist, and the advised me that “yes we confirm it is bed bugs after checking my body and giving me high cortisone antiseptic creams/sprays and told me that I should also inform the hotel as this was not only poor practice but very poor hygiene under health and safety act of any hotel procedures before letting out their room outs as business and they should address this issue immediately. I also had notice the bedsheets were not changed daily when had put the sign out for room cleaning service daily, only on the last day the bed sheets were changed. Guest should not have to repeatedly ask for such things when a hotel as a business is making revenue should be automatically following hygiene practices when running a hotel. I had informed the hotel of the bed bugs but the said they will change the sheets. Bed bugs is an infestation and should have been dealt with the pest control to exterminate the bugs. 9. On the 2nd day returning to the hotel, I witness the Hotel manager smoking literary outside the main entrance of the hotel, it is very rude and unacceptable of the hotels reputation. He then said a very low key hello without a smile. Not place many Olympic guest attending or players etc. would want to experience such a hotel that needs closing for full repairs and re-training the staff their staff. Is this really Paris, as this would not happen in England not even at a budget hotel!

NO FIRE ESCAPE OR HOT WATER!

    rating06 Jun 2024

I usually ignore one star reviews on Tripadvisor because I think nowhere can be that bad! I have never come close to writing a one star review before. This is also the only hotel that I have ever checked into and immediately checked out of again. The reception staff were friendly and didn’t quibble with my request to cancel the booking. That is all the positive information I have about this property. The reception and our floor had dusty footprints all over and construction noises could be heard. A door on our floor had a do not enter sign and I presume there was construction going on just behind it. The hotel certainly needs it as is very tired but the hotel should have been closed to do it.A tiny rickety lift took us up to the 6th floor landing where we saw water dripping through the ceiling and soaking the floor. The door out on to the balconies were full of building supplies and rubbish. The doors on to the balcony would not be suitable for young children as very easy to open. There was no hot water in the bathrooms. The final straw was that there was no stairs access to the 6th floor. Although there was an illuminated fire escape sign, there was nowhere to go apart from the ancient lift. Not a suitable means of escape for an emergency. The part of the hotel containing the stairs was closed for renovation. This was not in any way be suitable for us to stay as a family with young children so we immediately checked out. We had a mad dash to book alternative accommodation at a high cost due to unavailability of the majority of properties at short notice. AVOID!!

    Horrendous

    rating28 Jan 2024

We booked the Mondial as part of a package with our Eurostar train tickets. I trusted Eurostar that they would choose a reasonable and clean basic 3* hotel which is all we needed for the weekend. The young reception staff we charming and polite on our arrival and gave us a storage room to hold our luggage as our rooms were not yet ready. We returned later to shower and change for the evening. It then became apparrent that the hotel was a 'house of horrors' the rickety tiny lift was very conerning. There was no access via stairs to the rooms due to 'building work', also no Fire Escape from upstairs should there be any issues. There was holes in the landings, the floors were filthy, everywhere smelt of damp and dirt. In all my 64 years, I have never ever seen or expereienced anything in the world as bad as this hotel The manager was not interested, and just told us we could leave. It became a problem getting a refund through Eurostar as appently by being ther after 18:00, it means we have accepted the hotel. After a stressful couple of hours, they eventually agreed we would be issued a refund and we changed hotels. Big shout out to the lovley young Paloma who tried to help us and sort out a refund. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BOOK THIS HOTEL - you have been warned.
