Stay ruined by NO Air conditioning working in our room

    rating10 Jun 2025

Had a 2 night stay recently.POSITIVES -Room and bathroom were tastefully decorated and clean.Location is good, near range of bars and restaurants and Voltaire metro and a bus stop.Breakfast had good choice and was open until midday if want a lie in.Water /Tea /coffee making available in room.Room had tv / phone/ small safe and free wifi.NEGATIVES -Thought it was rather pricey for the very small size of room. We paid GBP142 per night inc breakfast , we stayed x2 nights. Given Room 501 next to lift. Could only walk round our bed, very limited space for movement around room and placing our suitcase. Could only lie on the bed. One of the smallest rooms we’ve ever stayed in around the world.Don’t think it merits a 4* rating. No mini bar.No fridge.Maintenance not open x24 hours a day if required. Eg - when our AC was not working. No closed cupboard/hanging space, just mainly open shelving / open hanging rail.View from our room was a wall and darkish courtyard. Now the very disappointing fact. Our Air conditioning DID NOT work during our stay, so the room air was still and stuffy due to its small size, hence we had an uncomfortable x2 sleeps. It was one of our booking requirements, so it’s a “breach of contract” as it’s mentioned on the booking website and we didn’t have it.We reported it on numerous occasions to 3 different reception staff and 2 other staff including housekeeper to followup on . ( I’ve not mentioned their names in this review )We Checked in early evening. When we rang the receptionist on duty and 1 of us even went to the lobby to tell the lady, she said NO ONE was available to come up to look at it. She said she’d get it working from downstairs but had no luck. Said she was all alone so couldn’t leave the desk.Next day someone must’ve looked at it whilst we were out, and it was confirmed by her that yes there was something wrong with the thermostat hence it still didn’t work.We were advised to put it all in an email the night before checkout which we did for the manager/ owner. At checkout early afternoon, both receptionists on duty said they’d followup with the owner/ manager. She ( name withheld) did reply after our return saying she’d give us a discount of another stay. Didn’t find her empathetic or interested in caring customer service. We suggested some compensation as a good will gesture/ inconvenience caused as we don’t intend staying with them again. Any decent hotel would be apologetic and own up to a maintenance issue, not make us out to be the guilty party. Now our followup emails chasing the latter are being ignored.Even the travel agent on our return rang them, and the lady he spoke to said it says on their file, that there there was NOT ANY problem with the AC.If it’s fixed now, all well and good, but it WASN’T working during our stay and despite bringing it to the attention of several staff, it still wasn’t working on our checkout. They couldn’t move us as the rooms were all taken.Based on the above surprising and very disappointing experience, certainly unexpected from a 4 star hotel, it has resulted in us giving this negative review. If the AC was working during our stay, why on earth would we say it wasn’t and would we go to such lengths alerting so many staff and asking for someone to mend it? Camille A, Autre at New Hotel Le Voltaire, responded to this review Dear customer,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the decor and cleanliness of your room, as well as the breakfast service and the convenience of our location. We sincerely regret that your experience was overshadowed by the issues you encountered, particularly regarding the malfunction of the air conditioning in your room. We understand how important comfort is—especially in a compact room—and we fully acknowledge how frustrating this must have been. Please accept our apologies for not being able to resolve the issue during your stay. Our team did try to troubleshoot remotely, and a technician was eventually able to confirm a problem with the thermostat. Unfortunately, as the hotel was fully booked at the time, we were not in a position to offer an alternative room, which we certainly would have done under other circumstances.Regarding your post-stay correspondence, we understand your disappointment. Our intention in offering a discount on a future stay was a sincere attempt to express our regret, though we are sorry if this was not perceived as empathetic or sufficient given the situation. We have taken note of your comments and will ensure that this incident is reviewed internally with our team. It is never our wish for any guest to leave with such dissatisfaction, and we are truly sorry this was the case.We hope that despite this unfortunate experience, you might consider giving us another opportunity in the future to better reflect the standards we aim to uphold.Sincerely,Team of the New Hotel Le Voltaire

Ideal hotel for a short stay

    rating20 May 2025

I stayed at the hotel for a mini break for 2 nights in May 2025. This hotel is smart, clean & tidy. We were greeted by friendly & helpful reception staff, generally they were all friendly here. Comfortable & clean rooms, great as a base as we didn’t spend much time in there. Our room was basic but had everything we needed for our short stay. Breakfast was simple with a good choice, just what you need to start your day. The hotel is actually on a quiet street, we weren’t disturbed by car noises. The walk from the hotel to the landmarks towards the River Seine was about a 15 minute power walk however there’s shops & cafes on route so it’s became a leisurely walk & sightsee. I would recommend staying at this hotel. Camille A, Autre at New Hotel Le Voltaire, responded to this review Dear customer,We truly appreciate your encouraging words. It’s always a pleasure to welcome guests like you.We would be delighted to host you again in the near future.Sincerely,Team of New Hotel le Voltaire

    Great location.

    rating18 Apr 2025

Nicely presented hotel. Great location with lots of great bars and cafes , restaurants really close by. Metro station literally 2 minutes away. Our view from our window was another wall literally within touching distance. So consequently our room was very dark even during the day. Breakfast starts from 7am. The day before we were due to check out I asked the receptionist if we could possibly have maybe some coffee and cereal available at 6.45am as our taxi was booked for 7:15am. The reply I received was a flat no! Breakfast is at 7am. Camille A, Autre at New Hotel Le Voltaire, responded to this review Dear customer, we are deeply sorry about the problem you mentioned in your review. We take note of everything in order to improve our services and quality. We hope to see you in better conditions in one of our hotels. Best regards. New Hotel Le Voltaire team

!!! Warning to other travellers, personal property went missing during our stay !!!

    rating06 Jan 2025

Based on our recent experience regrettably we cannot recommend this hotel. During our stay, cosmetics went missing from our room. Alarmingly, another guest also reported missing items over the same weekend. Both incidents were reported to hotel management, yet the response was far from reassuring. The management's lack of surprise and the hotel manager's unsupportive and indifferent attitude towards resolving the issue were deeply concerning. It was implied that the fault lay with us for not placing the cosmetics in the safe, which is unacceptable given the seriousness of the situation. To date no compensation has been offered. Camille Antoun, Autre at New Hotel Le Voltaire, responded to this review Dear Sir,We are very sorry to hear that your stay at the New Hotel Le Voltaire did not give you complete satisfaction.Contrary to what you may think, and therefore formulate in writing, the customer experience is paramount for us, and we are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience encountered. Please be assured that we have carried out the requested searches: our teams on the floors, as well as our assistant housekeeper, have checked and re-checked to see if they could find any cosmetics that you may have forgotten. Unfortunately, no items were found. We have full confidence in our floor staff, who have been working with us for a very long time, and we would never condone the theft of an item left by a guest. Believe us.We can't let you say that this is a matter to which management pays no attention. We listen to our customers, we are vigilant about the teams we work with, and we always will be. That's the basis of our business. We are passionate hoteliers, and are touched to the heart when our mission of customer satisfaction fails, which is obviously the case with your stay, and for which we are once again sincerely sorry. We are, and will remain, at your disposal, Sir.Best regards

    Great stay

    rating28 May 2024

We had a wonderful stay in November 2023 coming from US. We visited Paris with family and stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel was comfortable and cozy. It was in the small side but that’s expected for Paris. Breakfast was wonderful. Staff was helpful when needed. Thanks for a great stay! Camille Antoun, Autre at New Hotel Le Voltaire, responded to this review Dear Melinda, it’s a pleasure to read your comment ! Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. We'll be happy to welcome you for your next trip in Paris !
