    Trip type: Friends getaway

Perfect, cosy hotel for a long weekend

    rating20 Apr 2026

Small, friendly hotel in a great location with lots of great cafés and restaurants within walking distance. My room was very small but very comfortable and perfect for a long weekend. My friends in a double room were also very happy with theirs.Something I particularly appreciated was that it was QUIET as their are only a few rooms on each floor, the doors are thick and the hallways are carpeted. My room overlooked a courtyard but my friends had a room on the street so it was a little noisier if they wanted to sleep with the windows open.Staff were very helpful and advised us on places to eat that fitted with our budget.I found the duvet too heavy so took it out of its cover and slept with just this and a blanket on top. After the room had been cleaned the next day,I found the blanket had been put inside the duvet cover for me.How thoughtful is that? Everything was very clean and well-maintained.The only hiccup was that the lift was out of order ,so getting to my room meant a climb up the narrow spiral staircase, but the reception guy carried my luggage for me ,so it was no problem. Anyone with any mobility issues might need to check the lift status before coming. All in all, a perfect choice of hotel for our trip.

Ok for Solo Travelers but has Some Kinks

    rating12 Mar 2026

Adorable room in a great location. However, there were a few issues. A) I was initially going to come with someone else and do 2 twin beds. But the rooms are very, very small, so you can only be solo. Two people would not be able to fit in the room with 2 suitcases. I could barely walk around mine. In addition, the closet is a small armoire, so there is no luggage rack. B) There is no bath—only a shower—and the shower is a bit dangerously slippery. So make sure to hold on getting out. Another issue is there is no shelf for your soap or personal items. In addition, depending on the time of day, you have to run the shower for a while—about 3-5 mins—to get hot water. C) Breakfast is barebones and too expensive. I was charged $16 for a croissant, a roll, and a tea. It would be better to eat out. D) The staff were affable. But I requested a wakeup call for my last day and did not receive one. I would've missed my plane home, if I had not woken up in the middle of the night and thought to set my phone alarm as an extra precaution. This was sloppy on the part of the staff and could've cost me over $1000, if I had gotten stuck in Paris.E) And finally, the elevator. The elevator is oddly placed on the side of a spiral staircase where you have to step back down the stairs to open the door to get in. Then when you get off, you have to maneuver backward down the stairs to close the door and walk up to your floor. This can be disorienting and is slightly dangerous, especially if you have luggage. It takes a bit of getting used to.All that said, the location is great and near a major subway and my room was very quiet. I suggest staying on the courtyard rather than the street with the terrace because it may be too noisy. The rooms are quaint and affordable once you get used to the kinks and if you are a solo traveler. WEHRLE Catherine, Propriétaire at New Orient Hotel, responded to this review Dear Courtney,Thank you for taking the time to write such an honest review, we really appreciate it.We're glad you enjoyed the location and that your room was quiet. On the wake-up call, we're truly sorry. There's no excuse and we know how stressful that must have been. We've addressed it with the team.Regarding the shower, we do have bath mats available at reception, we just wish you had let us know during your stay so we could have brought one up straight away. That's exactly what we're here for. The same goes for any other concern, our team is always happy to help but we can only do so if guests come to us. It's always a shame to read about issues after checkout that we could have easily sorted out at the time.On the hot water, it does take a little while in old Parisian buildings like ours. We'll make sure to mention it at check-in.On breakfast we hear you, we're working on improving the offer. As for the elevator, had you mentioned it was an issue we would have been happy to move you to the first floor. No elevator needed, problem solved! We hope to see you again in Paris.Alexandre

    Great hotel

    rating25 Nov 2025

Lovely stay here in May. The room was relatively small but the bathroom surprisingly spacious. All very clean. Reception staff lovely and friendly. The stairs are a little tricky and there is a lift but not from the very ground floor. Great location. Would definitely stay here again. WEHRLE Catherine, Propriétaire at New Orient Hotel, responded to this review Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us — especially the cleanliness, the spacious bathroom, and the friendliness of our reception team. Your kind words mean a lot. It’s true that being a historic Parisian building, the stairs can be a bit charmingly tricky, and the lift starts one level above the ground floor — thank you for mentioning it for future guests. We’re very happy that you appreciated our location and that you would choose to stay with us again. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back on your next trip to Paris!Warm regards,Catherine WEHRLEHôtel New Orient Paris

Very welcoming, charming hotel in such a lovely location

    rating09 Nov 2025

Have only good to say about our trip we got back from today. First time in Paris, welcomed by receptionist (apologies I didn’t catch his name) who was very friendly and helpful. Lovely authentic Parisian hotel, in a quiet area with lots of Boulangeries and cute cafes and a metro nearby. My husband lost his footing at the airport beforehand and injured his foot and the receptionist was very helpful and empathetic, guided us to nearest pharmacy for pain relief and was very helpful with recommendations of restaurants, several landmarks, metro station etc. Room beautiful and clean (stayed on the 6th floor) there’s a little lift on the first floor, stairs are steep and had a winding stair case so have to be more careful, walk slowly but wasn’t an issue for us. Thankfully my husbands foot healed and was manageable on our first full day and thereafter so managed to walk around Paris without getting a metro (something I’d recommend if able to) nice to explore all the different arrondissements and hidden gems. 30,000+ steps each day but was so worth it. Cant fault anything about this hotel. Would definitely return. Thank you! ☺️ WEHRLE Catherine, Propriétaire at New Orient Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guests,Thank you so much for your truly wonderful and heartfelt review — it was such a pleasure to read!I remember you both very well, and I’m very glad to hear that your husband’s foot recovered quickly and that you were able to enjoy Paris to the fullest.Your kind words about the welcome, our neighborhood, and the hotel’s atmosphere mean a lot to us.It was a real pleasure meeting you, and I’m delighted that your first visit to Paris turned into such a memorable experience. We would be very happy to welcome you again whenever you return to Paris.Warmest regards,Catherine WehrleHotel New Orient Pariswww.hotelneworient.com
