Not much peace or love (or sleep)

    rating18 Jun 2025

I booked a bed in a 3-bed room (through Agoda) but was given one in a 12-bed dormitory, with people coming and going throughout the night. There was one bathroom with toilet, shower and sink for 12 people. It was occupied by people showering most of the morning. There was a toilet outside the room on every floor, but none of them had anywhere to wash your hands! The bunks were wobbly, unscreened and, if you were in the top bunk, very close to the ceiling.

    Would not recommend

It’s cheap. The location is great for amenities (restaurants, metro, bars) and the hostel is open 24/7 which is very convenient. Apart from that I wouldn’t recommend. The beds are uncomfortable, there are 5 floors with no accessibility apart from very narrow, spiral stairs. The communal toilets are timy and dirty. The shower in the single rooms is minuscule, anyone bigger than a size 12 won’t be able to move, the window in the bathroom has no blind so can see straight in from outside and to top it off they ate our food that we left in the communal kitchen. Not cool! Remember to get your deposit back for your room card as they don’t reimburse it automatically, we had to ask. Pay a bit more and go elsewhere.

A good find - great value for money

The hostel was perfect for our visit to the capital. After a somewhat slightly off-putting start (the person at the bar asked us to wait / ignored us so that he could finish his inventory, then told us to go to the cash dispenser and pay the three nights upfront as his card reader was broken), the rest of the stay was good, and the other members of staff were very friendly and professional. We had booked a private double room. It is located on the fifth floor (no lift). The room comprises of a double bed, a low table with two stools, and a shower room. There are coat hooks by the entrance (we had brought coat hangers) and two bins. The windows are double glazed, although the one in the bathroom does not close properly. There are thick curtains in the bedroom which keep the light out when needed. As it's a busy street, the noise from the street below is noticeable, and because the hostel is close to the fire station, there are often some sirens. We can also hear when the other guests open their doors, which are very creaky. So to be fair, our sleep has been disturbed a few times, but it comes with being in Paris - the same happened to me in the past when I stayed at some friends' places. The room came with two towels (one medium, one large) and two small bottles of shower gel. There was also a large toilet roll. The two bins have been emptied daily. There are enough power plugs to charge our devices, and free wi-fi. The floor felt somewhat sticky (we had brought flip flops), but the bed and bathroom were clean (the shower room is rather dated but the bed is comfortable). People had complained about the bleach smell in previous reviews so.i.had brought a scented candle just in case, but it wasn't needed. The bedroom door opens with a card, which needs to be reactivated each time you come in, as the metro can interfere with it. The staff happily does it in a few seconds, as they welcome you in each time. The hostel also has a kitchen if you want to cook, but we haven't tried it. The bar on the ground floor seems to have a good selection of drinks. The area is really nice, with the Metro station one minute walk away, lovely cafes and bars nearby, picturesque canal Saint Martin, and we also found a small street market on Sunday morning not too far away. It is easy to walk to and from the centre of town from the hostel. We felt safe in the streets, there are schools and families living in the neighborhood. All in all, it was the cheapest accomodation we found in Paris at the time, and we felt perfectly safe and at home, in a great location. We would happily go back!

    Get what you pay for

Despite being in a very nice, hipster location, with friendly staff, there is no air con in the rooms, and Paris in the middle of summer is not a great time to not have aircon. The showers are quite literally one step away from the bed, which is very awkward if you're sharing your room with strangers. The bar claims it has a happy hour from 4pm butbthen tell you they don't have an alcohol license until 7.30pm each day (?)However, comfy beds (just incredibly old and squeaky) but we asked for a 4 bed room and only got a 3. But plig sockets next to beds which worked, lockers in rooms.Bar downstairs seems to just be full in the evenings of the workers friends, didn't get a travellers hostel vibes.Great location tho, opposite mcdonalds and metro stop.

    Good location, comfy bed

    rating07 Apr 2022

I was in a private room with an esuite. The hostel is very close to public transport and only a few stops away from the main attractions and the main train station by metro. The gentleman who manages the reception, which is also a bar, is very kind and he's always there. The bed was very comfy, the bathroom was clean, and there was more than enough power socket in the room. I did like the reading lights above the bed and the river view from the room. On the other hand, the walls were very thin, I could clearly hear the guy next door. The floor in the room was quite dirty, my socks got very black wearing then there. The shower was a bit small, but I was extremely happy to have my own in the room.
