    Thieves !

    rating06 Aug 2025

We had a deeply disappointing experience at this hotel. An iPad, Kindle, and a collection of makeup were stolen from our room on August 3rd 2025 at approximately 10:00 am. We immediately reported the incident, but the response from management was inadequate. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no effort was made to check security footage or investigate beyond a brief and unhelpful search of our room, which we had already thoroughly checked ourselves. Unfortunately, there was no follow-up, accountability, or concern shown by the staff. This experience left us feeling completely unsupported and unsafe. We would not recommend this hotel. Mgmt HR, Owner at The Chess Hotel, responded to this review Dear Mr &Ms Siewert, We thank you for choosing The Chess Hotel for your recent stay in Paris. We are sorry to read that you felt unsupported when reporting your personal belongings missing during your stay. Please be assured that our receptionist immediately took the necessary steps to record it, so that the hotel management could initiate an internal investigation. However, we would like to remind you that, in the event of a theft, filing an official police report is required to formally initiate any investigation. To date, we have not received confirmation of such a report, which is necessary to begin interviewing relevant staff and to provide security video records to the competent authorities. The safety and trust of our guests remain our highest priorities, and we regret that this situation affected your stay. We remain at your disposal for any further assistance. Kind regards,The Management

It is okay for short stay

    rating27 Nov 2024

I stayed on business but hotel felt more of the tourist category. Deluxe room was tiny. It was virtually just bed and really small round table in the corner. I stayed in many Paris hotels over the years and this room was the smallest. Closet behind the curtain. Internet for work call was actually decent. Safe worked. There was no kettle or complementary water in the room. British tea lovers beware!Prices in minibar: 7 euros for a can of sparkling water.Window opens normally for fresh air and aircon heats properly.Bathrobe and sleepers included.I requested back side which was view to the wall but at least it was quiet at night. Hotel is in the side street - close to the shopping and metro station. You can easily arrive by metro from Gare du Nord with one change (line 4 and 9). I took uber once and if you can - avoid it as city centre traffic is horrendous, I spent one hour on one roundabout. Take the metro or just walk - it will be quicker.Staff at the reception is friendly.Overall it was fine for one night but there is nothing in particular that would call me back. Mgmt HR, Propriétaire at The Chess Hotel, responded to this review Dear Guest, Thank you for having taken the time to come back on this experience at The Chess. It was a pleasure to count you among our guests and we are pleased to hear that overall, the quality of the service offered to you throughout this stay at our 4-star boutique hotel complied with your expectations. Of course, your remarks retained all our attention and we regret to hear your disappointment regarding the room set at your disposal. Yet, the size of our deluxe rooms is similar to that of other Parisian establishments in our category, given our excellent geographical location, right next to the opera. Next time you make a reservation, don't hesitate to contact our team, who will be delighted to help you find a room more to your liking. Rest assured that your remarks will encourage us to improve. The entire team is delighted to note your full satisfaction regarding her attentive service and hopes that you will continue to place your trust in us during your next visit to Paris. We will do our best to ensure that your stay is as perfect as possible. Kind regards, The Management

Lovely hotel but cleanliness not up to scratch!

    rating24 Nov 2024

We stayed here for two weeks for my birthday and enjoyed lot things about the hotel. The staff were polite and friendly and our room was lovely, we loved the view and our small balcony onto the street. We would ask for room 503 if we stayed again. The only thing that let the place down was the cleanliness of the room. Firstly, whenever we opened the wardrobe we were met with a cloud of dust. I suspect on top of the fridge had never been cleaned. Secondly, the grout in the bathroom tiles was dirty. A quick scrub would sort it. Thirdly, the toilet bowl was dirty. Again, a quick scrub would sort. Fourthly, there was a hair in the sink when we arrived. We’re both male with short jar so definitely wasn’t ours!Lastly, the sink drained super slow. This means that even if you washed your hands it would take ages for the water to go. It is really disappointing to have to write the above as everything else was perfect. The bed was comfortable. The room well decorated. If the few points were fixed we would stay again. Mgmt HR, Propriétaire at The Chess Hotel, responded to this review Dear Dean, Thank you for taking the time to share this review. First of all, it was a real pleasure to count you among our guests during these 2 days and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the warm welcome of our team, the nice room set at your disposal as well as its attributes. Rest assured that we attach the greatest importance to the cleanliness of our hotel and its rooms. We apologize for the inconveniences encountered. Yet, our chambermaids are very thorough in their work and although we are very sorry, none of our guests who have stayed in this room have complained about its cleanliness. You also mention marks on the bathroom fittings. These are simply marks from cleaning and wear and tear. Our facilities are clean and regularly maintained. Finally, we'll be sure to carry out the necessary checks on your bathroom sink, thank you for your report. Your remarks are precious and will be useful to optimize the experience of our guests. Hoping that you fully enjoyed the great location of our 4-star boutique hotel, very convenient to explore Paris. We will be delighted to count you again among our guests if you nevertheless accept to renew your trust in us on a next visit, Kind regards, The Management
