  No surprises, what is good for a hotel

  A warm welcome on a cold wet night

  Travellers learn not to expect much from hotels right by railway stations, but the family owned Hotel de Dieppe 1880, two minutes if that from the front door of Rouen station, is a shining exception. Late on a horrible wet Sunday night, the warmth of the receptionist's welcome was as cheering as the smart spotless interior. The restaurant was closed, but the cosy bar was still serving excellent food. Our twin room - on the fourth floor, accessed by a tiny historic lift which wouldn't suit anyone with giant suitcases - was compact, but very comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, including smoked salmon and beautiful cheeses, and the terrasse would be a fine lunch spot while waiting for a train.   Fabulous hotel

  The hotel is well located, spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and friendly staff.The rooms are on the small side but well equipped. If you want more room book the superior rooms.Staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble.The Victor restaurant was also very good, great food reasonably priced and perfect service from Fabrice and the young lady whose name I am afraid I didn’t catch.   Really amazing staff!

  What an amazing staff! I’m travelling with a group & we’ve stayed in hotels from Paris through Nantes. There are 65 of us & even though they knew we were coming most hotels aren’t staffed. The restaurant service & options were woefully inadequate. Not this hotel! They are on top of it all. The service is AAA-Plus. The food & accommodations superior. I really wish we could tip them, the staff was that amazing.
