The hotel is very conveniently located, less than a two-minute walk from the railway station. The room was small and quite dark, but adequate, with tea and coffee-making facilities and a comfortable bed. The view wasn't great, looking directly into an internal courtyard, and the shower room was also rather cramped.The lift is small and looks somewhat antiquated, although it did the job.Breakfast was very good, with a decent selection of hot and cold food and drinks. The breakfast area was also a good spot for a bit of people-watching. The staff were friendly and helpful, and most spoke good English.The restaurant had a fairly small menu, with some of the dishes perhaps more of an acquired taste. The surrounding area was quiet at night, despite the hotel's proximity to the railway station.Overall, a convenient and comfortable base, particularly if travelling by train. Very comfortable and excellent value

Friendly and helpful staff. Room was spacious , quiet with large windows. Water, tea and coffee in room. Bed comfortable. Enough pillows and towels. Good check in and check out times. Held my bag when I checked out. Nice restaurant. Excellent value. A warm welcome on a cold wet night

Travellers learn not to expect much from hotels right by railway stations, but the family owned Hotel de Dieppe 1880, two minutes if that from the front door of Rouen station, is a shining exception. Late on a horrible wet Sunday night, the warmth of the receptionist's welcome was as cheering as the smart spotless interior. The restaurant was closed, but the cosy bar was still serving excellent food. Our twin room - on the fourth floor, accessed by a tiny historic lift which wouldn't suit anyone with giant suitcases - was compact, but very comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, including smoked salmon and beautiful cheeses, and the terrasse would be a fine lunch spot while waiting for a train.
