  Junior Suite for Conference

  We stayed here for a week while attending a conference - our first time in Strasbourg. The hotel is fine for a small conference, but is not ideal for sightseeing given that it's not near most of the sights - it's a 30min walk to the Cathedral. We booked a Junior Suite which includes access to the executive lounge. The junior suite is huge - I think it's two rooms combined. While it's nice overall, being the top room at this hotel, it really needs some love and an updating renovation. My main concerns are the bed and the bathroom, I'll get into specifics. You walk in the room and immediately on your left are the electric kettle, Nespresso machine, fridge, and storage space. There's also a water jug and two glasses with a note that you can get water at the dispenser down the hall. The one on our floor probably needs some servicing as the water came up very slowly (one that I used at another hotel filled much faster) and even though here's a button with a picture of a carafe, it takes multiple of them to fill that jug. Nice to have that option. On your right when you enter is the water closet - with toilet, sink, and mirror - a very large room for just a water closet. Walking into the suite there's a lovely real orchid on a side table. There's a couch, coffee table, a seat and ottoman in the corner, a desk. Above the desk is a big TV. There are a handful of English language channels available, mostly BBC & ITV. Oddly, several of the ITV channels were the +1 version which had audio description and no way (that I could find) to toggle them. Cool that it's offered, but a little odd. There's a door that can connect to the adjoining suite. A closet is next to that with an iron and safe. Going over to the bed area, you'll see from my pictures it's a platform bed with seating built into the foot of the bed, angled corners, and a little bench all the way around. The style seems a bit dated to me. My main issue was that the corners jut out so much from the bed and they are unprotected sharp corners, I managed to hit both my shins on it over the course of the stay! My one leg has had a bruise for over a week. Maybe you're not as clumsy as I am, but it really hurt! The bed was very firm, well supported. There are reading lamps built into the headboard, but one of them wasn't working. Speaking of lighting, the suite could use a little more as trying to pack at night was a bit dark, I had to angle the desk lamp to make sure I could see into my suitcase! The bathroom - woah - I think it'd be pretty impressive when it was first built, but at this point it needs a renovation. The shower capsule was super fancy with multiple options for different jets to hit you with water. The issue is that some of them didn't work, and the ones that did work had a lot of scaling and buildup from use over time so they were a little clogged. Either they all need to be replaced or have a long vinegar soak and a good scrubbing. There's even a seat with all these jets surrounding you so you can get a good clean and massage all over your back - the problem is that most of them didn’t work and the ones that did again were somewhat clogged so they were inefficient - we ended up not using that at all as it really didn't work properly. The shower was fine, but nowhere near as impressive as I bet it was originally.There's a separated jetted tub - but again this needs some love. There's no sign or instructions on how to use it or what the buttons mean, but from our multiple attempts, the only thing that works are the handful of main jets. There's another option that's supposed to be bubbles, but you hit it, hear the motor going, but nothing comes out. There's yet another button, which again didn't do anything. So while nice, not as impressive as it would have been. There's a towel warming rack which we didn't try. There's a lot of space both around the sink and on a separate Ikea 4-cube - really great to be able to spread out and unpack your toiletries. A bath robe and slippers were included as well as some huge towels. Executive LoungeIt's located on the first floor. What's available all the time it's open is a soda dispenser where you can get several Coke products as well as tonic. There's an espresso drink maker that will make espresso & milk based drinks. There's a filtered water dispenser, and sparkling water in the fridge. There's usually juice and milk in the fridge as well. There are usually some granola bars, nuts, and dried fruits available.Breakfast is available in the lounge, and offerings were fairly consistent each day. Two types of sausages, bacon, potatoes in the hot section. You're able to order eggs from the waitstaff pretty much however you want them. There are some croissants, pain au chocolat, breads, pretzels available. In the cool section there's some cheese, sliced meats, yogurt, fruit salad, oranges, and grapefruits. American/filtered coffee was available although one day I didn't see it and asked and they brought me a pot.In the evening they have one complimentary beer on tap (no name), and several wines from Alsace - they usually included Cremant sparkling, Riesling, Muscat, Gewürztraminer, and a red. In addition there were several spirits available - all of which was complimentary and self-service. There was a selection of cheese and sliced meats and a hot item. Sadly nothing was labeled which was usually ok for the meats/cheese, but for the hot dish you're either guessing or waiting for one of the staff to stop by to ask them. One day it was spaghetti in a red meat sauce.The staff there were all very friendly and great to deal with. On the days we were there, we never saw the lounge full. StaffFront desk staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived a couple hours before check-in and were told our room was not available. They offered to store our luggage and gave us a key to the Executive Lounge to hang out, that was nice. We came out after check-in time, our room was still unavailable, they apologized and said they'd call housekeeping to check. We waited a little bit longer before they came over and let us know we could check-in. She then offered us a coupon for 2 drinks at the bar, which was a lovely gesture but ended up not being used as we would have drinks in the lounge before dinner. Housekeeping staff were also friendly whenever we interacted with them. They kept everything clean. Overall an ok stay, and oddly enough some of our complaints likely don't apply to the less expensive rooms. It's a good hotel if you're staying here on business, but if you're sightseeing it will involve a bit more walking/travel than if you stay somewhere more central. Also, it's in an odd neighborhood in that we didn't find anywhere super close to eat. Even when we were tired, we ended up in the center of town to eat as we didn't want to do the hotel restaurant.

  A nice hotel. The restaurant was a plus. Ophelie was our server. She was very efficient and knowledgeable about the food and wine and makes great cocktails!A fun stay!

  Fantastic stay at the Hilton in Strasbourg. The staff were very helpful with organising taxis into the city centre, and the breakfast in the hotel was fantastic. Room was very clean as well.

  Whatever happened to Hilton?! After reading all their on line self congratulations on their great Q4 performance, I can only say it is terrible what they have allowed to happen to this once chic hotel. I only popped in for dinner but the experience was so terrible I will never choose to stay here again. Half empty restaurant and all I was offered was a table in the bar without chairs. Apparently they were busy and expecting a crowd. Well as it turned out no crowd came, the dreadful restaurant staff was just too lazy to serve me. The lady in the bar was charming and the food adequate but what a difference to the once admirable Hilton F&B standards. And I wasn’t the only one complaining, the neighbouring tables had their own issues!!   First, the upside - the room was spacious, the staff was very friendly & helpful, the bar was nice. The hospitality was good! On the flip side though, the light in the room was very very dim, and I don’t know why!We were visiting the city for the Christmas markets, and the location of the hotel felt a little off for that purpose. And that is the reason for my rating of this hotel. The tram was a short walk from the hotel connecting us to the rest of the city, but ideally, we should have stayed closer to the Christmas markets. Plus, there are no eateries or shops in walkable distance from the hotel if you’d like to step out for dinner. So on a cold winter evening, if you don’t want to take a tram or bus ride, you only have the option of staying in.
