    Three nights in wonderful Tours

    rating25 Oct 2025

Spent 3 nights at the Best Western Hotel Central in Tours while on a motorcycle trip through France with my wife. The staff member on reception was very friendly and helpful and showed us to the parking space reserved for our motorcycles and got us checked into our room. The room was bright and spacious with a good sized en-suite and was spotlessly clean.Reception provided us with a list of recommendations for evening meals and opened the bar for us for some much needed cold drinks as it was 32 degrees on the ride into the city. The hotel is in a great location, close to the shopping centre on one side and the various bars and restaurants on the other. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, however we both thought this was excellent with plenty of choice and was good value for money.Overall we thought this hotel was excellent and would certainly recommend to others and if in Tours again we would definitely go back to this hotel.

    Most Excellent

Everything about this hotel is first class. It is located within easy walking distance of some great shops, restaurants, and the tram. The staff are absolutely charming. My bedroom was extremely comfortable and I was even provided with a very fluffy dressing gown. There was an extensive choice at breakfast and the quality of the baguettes was to die for. I paid a little extra to park immediately outside the front door in the private car park. All in all, I have zero complaints. Even the bed and pillows were wonderfully comfortable. Would I stay here again on my journey from the Channel ports down to southern France? Definitely.

    Delightful

A wonderful 4 night stay in this beautiful hotel. Easy to walk to from the train station, all flat. It is in a quiet location, but only a short walk into the main area for sites and loads of restaurants/bars for dinner. Our room was excellent, we had a corner room. Perfect size and very well maintained. The bathroom was very good too. Buffet breakfast was excellent. All the staff very friendly and hospitable.

Does exactly what it says on the tin

    rating16 Sept 2024

After a previous night in a cramped boutique hotel in the historic centre of Tours it was a relief to spill into a king bedroom at the Central. It is still very conveniently located (with a car park if that matters) and provided a quite sleep on a busy night followed by a good breakfast.

We checked out after two hours

    rating12 Sept 2024

We have been to beautiful Tours before and having previously noted this hotel, with parking and in a great location, we decided to book in advance on our latest French tour. We arrived very early from Poitiers but the pleasant and polite reception staff member kindly allowed us to park our car while our room was prepared, so we had the chance to walk around town and have some lunch. Upon our return, our room was ready and we checked in. So far, so good. The public areas of the hotel are looking very tired but apart from the loos on the ground floor, which were smelly, all was clean and tidy. Our room was on the small side and very dull and corporate but clean, and the bathroom was huge and obviously recently refurbished. We were unable to get the laptop on the WiFi but again, not a deal breaker. We decided to relax for a couple of hours before heading out for dinner. However, relaxing was impossible due to the horrendous thumping noise coming from the floor above. It was so loud it could be heard in the corridors. I went to the (very dark) fourth floor to investigate and could hear that it was children in one room who were seemingly tap dancing wearing hobnail boots. I went to reception to ask them to contact this room to keep the noise down. However, upon returning to our room the banging on the floor continued unabated. My husband then went to the room and knocked on their door and although he could hear their voices, they didn’t open the door. Still the constant banging, so we went down to reception again. The staff member explained that he had also knocked the door but the woman was refusing to answer. We asked for an alternative room on a lower floor but were told that as the hotel was fully booked, this wasn’t possible. We didn’t want to risk attempting to sleep in a room with constant noise from above, and with a migraine imminent, we checked out. We were in the hotel for around two hours in total. A shame, the location is great and the staff were lovely, but it did seem strange that for a hotel with 100% occupancy as claimed, it seemed practically deserted and the car park - which is quite small - wasn’t even full. The decoration and fittings don’t warrant a three star rating. We stayed at the excellent Oceania L’Univers instead, which is apparently only one star better but a world away in terms of decor, luxury and levels of service.
