    Not a hotel to stay in if you value your security

    We stayed a the Hotel du Lac on the 12 th of June our two electric bikes were stolen from the bike rack on our car . Our car was parked directly in front of the hotel entrance reception.The thieves cut through Four levels of security (two thick cable locks and also two high security chains and padlocks which secured the bikes to the rack). There is NO external security at the hotel, no gate, no fence at the rear, no CCTV cameras, not even a camera at the front of the hotel.

    At first the hotel looked relatively normal but then we found feces on the bed and the smell was horrible and intense. The cleaning was 0/10, the sheets had big stains and the bathroom was very dirty. The cards to open the doors do not work properly. Be careful.

    Having used Camponile in France before it was an easy choice to try them again on a recent trip across France.I knew I was travelling this way so made a reservation a few weeks earlier, I received a warm welcome and even my poor French was understood however the chap on reception spoke English. My room was the usual finest green in all the land but was nice and clean. I had booked a twin room as it was just me and was cheaper on the website but I was given a lovely double on the ground floor I liked not having to use the stairs. I booked a meal in the restaurant for opening at 1900, I do like to eat earlier but over the years have become accustomed to the later eating times in France.I did have to move from the first table I sat at as the aircon unit was super loud but the second table by the window was fine. I chose the simple steak and the recommended wine, This was very good wine but cost more then the meal as I later found out but hey ho a nice treat after a long days drive. Slept well in the usual comfy bed had a great shower. I make the journey across France regularly and now am torn between this place and the campanile in Orleans but will defiantly stay in either of them again, Campanile Hôtel Restaurant, Owner at Campanile Tours Sud - Joue Les Tours, responded to this review Dear guest,Thank you for the good review of our hotel!     Stayed here every year for almost ten years and this hotel has never let us down. The staff can speak in English, which is a great help compared to my poor French. The food is always good. Great selection on menu and also specials board. If your greedy like us the three course option will satisfy the hungriest traveller. Rooms are always clean and a good nights sleep.

    We stayed overnight recently having stayed here before.We received a lovely warm welcome.There was a kettle in the room & plenty of tea & coffee etc always available at reception.We had a superb steak dinner cooked to perfection & the service was quick & friendly despite the restaurant being very busy.Will definitely stay again.
