  Nice location, great rooms, but slightly disappointing restaurant

  This was my third time staying in the hotel. We were two friends travelling, and the hotel is at a nice driving distance from Cherbourg where we arrived that morning. The hotel is nicely situated in a quiet surrounding, with well appointed rooms reasonably priced. We had both been upgraded to garden rooms, and the rooms are really good. Big, nice bathrooms, big comfortable beds, and we had small, private seating areas outside our rooms. Checkin and checkout was fast and efficient. When you book the hotel on their own website, which tends to be my general preference, full payment is immediately taken, so just be aware of that. The hotel sits on a rather large ground with swimming pool and jacuzzi. When we were there the weather was not really good enough to use those facilities.While this is mainly about the hotel part, the restaurant experience should be mentioned. The hotel is a bit away from towns and facilities, so natural option is to eat at the hotel, which we did. Last time we were eating there we had a fantastic experience, sitting outside in great weather and enjoying a fantastic meal and equally great wines. This time we sat inside, which is less cosy, but more importantly, we were disappointed with the food. We both had a fois gras started, but the fois gras was not tasty, and putting it on a sliced strawberry with I think a chocolate based sauce on did not work. The rest of the meal was ok, but overall our admittedly high expectations were not met. If I find myself in the area again I will most likely stay here again, and give the restaurant another chance.   Splendid country retreat with fine dining

  Spending 3 nights in this lovely country hotel to tour the Loire valley, so we are enjoying our king-bed room on the ground floor (no stairs, yeah). What a beautiful accommodation. Marine is a lovely host who greeted us upon arrive. While we’re headed to our next dinner here tonight, we loved our dinner last night so much, one of the best we’ve had as we visit French annually. I’ll review the restaurant again, totally divine. Enjoy my photos from last night and be sure to add the incredible desserts and local cheese (toujours le fromage) to your meal.

  A bit of luxury in the Countryside

  A lovely building and beautiful setting. Remote but how we like it. Good parking. Excellent young lad on reception (early 20s?). Very friendly, polite and efficient. Only stayed one night. Girl on reception in morning also friendly.Wonderful pool and hot tub - almost had both to ourselves. Had ground floor suite - very spacious and well appointed. Only down side is that, being ground floor, we had lots of guests walking past our windows as they were accessing the garden and they never can avoid the temptation to peer in...Food was excellent although I would agree with another review that it was a little pricey and not huge portions. I know what these 'high quality' meals are generally like so just comparing to what we have had before. Having said that, it was extremely tasty and well presented. I would have been happy with the portion size (having gorged all holiday) but for a little less money. Breakfast was quite pricey for what we had a choice of, compared to much cheaper places we had stayed in.Overall, very much enjoyed the stay and would come again if in the area.

  Terrible Experience

  Terrible experience. No running water in the bathroom when we arrrived at 5pm. Reception did not even inform us. We complained and they said there was nothing they could do and had no idea when the water would return because the water company had a major problem. They did not offer us any bottled water until later when we demanded it. Attitude of the reception staff was very poor, like they didn’t care. Water came back during the middle of the night but was cut again the next day in the afternoon. We complained and got some more bottled water. Had to ask for a bucket of water to flush the toilet. Breakfast buffet in the restaurant is poor and not worth the price of 17 Euro. Dinner in the restaurant was acceptable but very overpriced. You can eat better and much cheaper at other restaurants in the area. During the 2 days when water was cut off we tried to contact Hotels.com to try to change the another hotel. Very difficult to get through to an agent because their automated answering system doesn’t work properly. Finally got through to an agent after a dozen attempts and said we would like to change hotel. They said they would contact the hotel but then the line cut off. Called again and after many more attempts spoke to another agent but then the line cut off again. They never called me back and they did absolutely nothing. I wasted my time calling them. We will never use Hotels.com or Logis Hotels again.

  Great place to stay if touring this part of the Loire Valley

  Recently took a group of friends/customers & stayed 5 nights.Hotel is lovely,very good restaurant for both dinner & breakfast.Excellent & friendly owners,lovely rooms (garden rooms)& great swimming pool.A little remote yet an ideal base for touring this part of the Loire Valley.
