A simple place well situated with availability

    rating30 May 2012

I had friends visiting last week and we decided last minute to go down to the Loire Valley during this past holiday weekend. EVERYTHING was fully booked. All hotels, bed and breakfasts, chateaux, etc... I finally stumbled onto this vacation residence and they had an apartment so we grabbed it. Now, it was well located, a 5 minute drive from Amboise which is one of the nicest towns in the Loire valley, so thumbs up. The actual apartment was spacious and very quiet, and lived up to expectations. good value for money and comfortable. NOT charming at all like some of the Loire places can be, but that's the trade off. The staff were friendly too...

    Needs sorting out

    rating24 Sept 2011

Booked on line and arrived expecting wifi connection along with our accommodation. No such luck! Unable to get any connection despite some help at reception. We were in a suite for 85€ so value good but we were told we were unable to cook there despite the kitchenette with some equipment.Generally understaffed for the size of the complex and a general feel of malaise around the place.Flash entry hall but poor landscaping and we could not park near our unit exept when downloading luggage.Schlepping 1 k to a unit is not funny.Luckily weather was good otherwise the place would have been a quagmire and it would have been a complete disaster.Bed excellent queen size and bathroom Ok however unit had a stale old cheese smell while apparently clean, tried to find the source.No154)Decor good and we had a good sleep. This place needs a cash injection to plant trees and employ more staff.Generally would not recommend unless desperate

Make ure you book a unit with pots and pans

    rating02 Sept 2011

I booked one night for a transit stop in the region. The unit itself was well decorated and furnished to NA standards. However, we were shocked to find out the kitchen cabinets were empty - no pots and pans, no plates, no glass, no silverware. When I asked the front desk, I was told that I had booked a unit without these supplies. I had to pay 30 Euro extra for one that had, and had to move to another unit. Even though it was still worthwhile to pay the extra (it was almost a must, since you are in the middle of a wilderness, where prepared food is not a walk away), it was the surprise and inconvenience that I did not appreciate.

Back again, for a bargain overnighter

    rating06 Aug 2011

We use this hotel for a good value overnight stop, on our way to the South West of France. This year we paid under £80 per night for a lovely big apartment for a family of four. The landscaping is pretty bare around the apartments, hence the low price. But the rooms themselves are spacious, clean and airy. We found the beds very comfortable, and could open the windows on a hot night. They have small kitchenettes with a microwave oven & fridge , but my advice is to take your own crockery and cutlery, as its non existent! My children enjoyed using the small onsite swimming pool, and my husband found that the service was good in the bar. There was one particular chap on reception who was charming (wish I had noted his name!)

    Place of Last Resort

    rating03 Jun 2011

Key things to know: no air conditioning, weak internet reception unless you are in the reception area. Small pool with about eight chairs for a complex of some 800 units.Tiny units. These are apartments with small kitchens, well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots & pans, but no soap. There are no instruction or welcome booklet to explain TV (no DVD player, French language only channels), the microwave or the heating system. Meteor Val de Loire Resort was our default choice when we arrived at the Tourist Info office late on the beginning of a four day French holiday, with no reservations to any hotel. We were told everything else in town was full except this it was a “three star” hotel just out of town. The reception was competent and professional, but we were given a unit at the far end of the complex, and told we were not allowed to park by it, but that it was OK to drop off. In fact, the unit was nearly 1/4 mile from the reception desk. We soon realized that the place was operating on a small staff, and like our neighbors, ignored the no parking rule and parked on the gravel in front of our place. Apparently the place has been open only a short time and it appears the developer either ran out of money or cut corners in an effort to maximize profit. The place has a very unfinished look, with zero landscaping. The ground floor units have sliding glass doors that open to...grass, as the developer forgot to pour concrete patios! The second story units have balconies, but no balcony furniture. Furniture in the rooms is too big and too many given the tiny size of the units. My wife and I had no place to open our suitcases, and were continually bumping into one another.Just to complete the impression that the people who built this place have none of the grace and artistry for which France is famous, they apparently leveled a woods and filled in a wetland to create this ugly monster. Just enough wetland was left (about 75 feet in circumference in the middle of the complex) to permit loud frogs to keep you awake at night if you unlucky enough to have a unit facing this area (remember no air conditioning means open windows...which, by the way, have no screens!!!
