  Very disappointing experience.

  I wish I could say that I was satisfied with the room and, in particular, with the reception service and the accuracy of the information provided at check-in. Unfortunately, that would not be true.For a hotel that invests heavily in advertising and consistently appears among the top recommendations, the overall guest experience was disappointing and far below expectations. The room rate is not the issue—we knowingly accept premium prices when booking a property that presents itself as a high-quality hotel. The problem is that the service and facilities simply do not justify those prices.There was no information in the room regarding breakfast hours or location, no guest information folder, no clock, and very little attention to the basic details that guests expect. The bathroom was extremely small for two people, and cleanliness was not particularly impressive. To make matters worse, we found dead ants in the room.The so-called “Luxury Room” we booked looked nothing like the photographs shown online. The balcony contained only two basic metal chairs without cushions, and the room directly faced other rooms, making it almost impossible to open the curtains without sacrificing privacy.The minibar contained only two bottles of water and two beers. There was no minibar inventory list and no pricing information. Even the water was not replenished during our stay. Despite this, we were charged for the water we consumed. Additionally, after a four-night stay, we were billed for parking as if it had been used throughout the entire stay, even though we only used it twice.We arrived late at night and my wife was unwell, so we chose not to argue or request a room change. Looking back, that was a mistake.To be fair, there was one bright spot: the lady managing the breakfast area was exceptional. She was professional, attentive, solution-oriented, and provided the level of service that one would expect throughout the hotel.Unfortunately, one excellent employee cannot compensate for the overall shortcomings of the property. This is not a hotel I would choose to stay at again, and I would strongly recommend that future guests insist on seeing the exact room before completing their booking.Very disappointing experience.

  Good spa hotel to relax with a great spa staff..don't do the breakfast too expensive

  I stayed for two nights in Baden-Baden at this hotel. It was a good choice and enjoyed my staff and stayed away from the expensive breakfast unless you booked it with your roomFront desk staff was fine but the spa staff was very friendly and supportiveThe spa facilities are great with the thermal spa, saunas and decent workout room. I went to the big modern spa and enjoyed the intimate spa at the hotel more.Hotel is in a good location to explore the local town with many nearby restaurants and shops

  We went to Baden Baden to see a concert. The hotel is located near downtown and within a reasonable walking distance to the concert venue. So our purpose was served satisfactorily. However, the service could be improved quite a lot. At reception, the check in and out was very business like, there was no warmth from the staff. At the bar, one waiter didn’t know what gin martini is. We were still there wrapping up our night cap when the bar was closing, the waiters made huge noise of crushing ice to remind us that they were closing. It was just simply rude and very unpleasant.

  Excellent property-Great service-Great Location!

  In May of 2025, we enjoyed our second stay at the Maison Messmer. It was another wonderful experience on every level. The front desk staff was gracious, professional and accommodating. On both of our visits, our rooms had a city view with a small balcony. We highly recommend that choice. Our rooms were spotless, well-appointed and quiet. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough.The Messmer location was perfect for us. The City Center is historic, with the Casino, shops and restaurants and garden paths along the small river. A priority for us is the short comfortable walk to the spas at Friedrichsbad and Carcalla. The front desk provided a spa bag with towels and discounts for both spas. Parking is directly under the Messmer and is secure with ample, large spaces. On our first trip, we were driving our new vehicle and that was an important consideration.We dined casually in the lobby bar and in the upscale and highly rated J. B. Messmer restaurant and were very pleased with both for quality, choices and service. Tables in the Messmer are spaced apart and allow for good conversation. Breakfast is a classic European buffet with lots of offerings. Service again was impeccable.We dined in the new Theater Kellern, again great service, a romantic setting and great French cuisine. The Spa area is on the lower floor and while small, is well done. A beautiful indoor pool and whirlpool is very quiet. A separate sauna area has Kneipp footbaths, spotless tiled open showers, two saunas and a fabulous mosaic walled steam bath. During our two stays, we visited the Spa six times and each visit found the spa to be quiet, relaxing, clean and with lots of towels. There were only a few other guests, mostly couples, using the spa facilities. All things considered, location, room, value, appointments and service, the Messmer is a Baden-Baden favorite and we look forward to our return.   Fine but only just. Not worth 5 star level

  I would have expected much more from a five star spa hotel. The following may sound petty but management and future guests should be aware of concerns. Valet parking was advertised but there were none and the municipal parking (admittedly accessible also via the hotel’s separate entrance) was near full. The room was fine, nice quiet aircon, but there were several niggles. In the bathroom the tissue box was empty. No telephone (!) to call housekeeping, room service or front desk. There is a WiFi tablet for info and it still advised the phone numbers. The spa has a small cold water pool but no hot tub. The changing room has a shower but no spin dryer for the swimming trunks or costume.
