  Reliable and comfortable hotel

  I stayed here for a week in July on a business trip. The Rheingold works well as an efficient business-style hotel, with most things that you would want and expect.Rooms are comfortable, quiet and light, although showing real signs of wear, especially with the furniture. There are no fridges, mini-bars or tea/coffee making facilities. But a/c works well (not all rooms) and bathrooms are good.The breakfast buffet, hot and cold, is ample and fine. The breakfast room and restaurant/meeting-room spaces are OK, albeit lacking in character.There are some parking spaces outside the hotel (free) and a good value underground car-park next door.The hotel suffers from its actual location in Bayreuth, outside the main cultural and shopping areas, although these are all walkable - not necessarily through the most pleasant parts of the town. It’s 5 minutes to the market square across a busy road junction.Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

  One of those that depends on why you are there and what you pay. The location is really good. The staff are nice and helpful. Wifi is good, It looks a little dated but certainly not tatty. Breakfast is good and for a reasonable price by European standards. Bed comfortable if you like hard beds.The downside is the rooms are rather dim and cramped and very basic. There are zero facilities in the room, apart from the TV with only German channels. The desks are very small to the extent that one laptop requires freeing up space to fit on.If you are there on a visit where you will spend only sleeping time in the hotel this will not matter. If you are on business, where you might need to do some work in your room, spend time just recovering from a long day. the lack of in room facilities and space is not ideal at all.So three stars. Depends what you are there for and how much you pay, could be a hit or a little disappointing.

  Location was nice (easy walking distance to the pedestrian zone and the Maisel Brewery), but the room was quite small and plain, especially for the price and with breakfast not included. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

  The hotel is well located only a few steps away from the old town. The buiding is outdated and has seen better days. Overall standard is not up to date with small rooms and below average bathrooms. Beds are uncomfortable. Not all rooms have a/c. Price/quality ratio is mediocre especially during the festival season. Staff is friendly. Buffet breakfast good. There is an undergroundparking and they offer shuttles to the festival house, both comes with a fee.

  We stayed to attend Parsifal on August 5 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.. Friendly and efficient reception & room staff. Room was comfortable, airy, spotlessly clean and everything worked. It is 5 minutes walk from Maximillianstrasse and even less in the other direction to the Maisel Pub/Restaurant, a must visit for beer lovers with the longest beer list I have seen outside a major CAMRA Festival. Shuttle bus to & from the Festspielhaus. The restaurant serves late to accommodate festival visitors, and the breakfasts are excellent. Only 1 caveat: Not all rooms have air conditioning, so check. That said, when we next return to Bayreuth we would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.
