  Awful stay ! Avoid at all costs

  Awful dated guest house - not a hotel at all! First greeting by a blond lady who barked orders at us and was charging us for all kinds before we’d even checked in . I have never in all my years of travel been charged room tax based on the size of the room ? Bizarre . Then tried to say we had made two separate bookings , again not true and that my friends room did not come with breakfast, I’ll get to the what they call breakfast. The room ! It was like what I can only imagine Anne Franck lived in , so small you could barely walk in it or turn around . Dirty yellow stained bedding , a pillow that belonged in the bin !! So soft and infirmIt was impossible to sleep or get comfortable. The breakfast ! €15 they had the nerve to charge for curdled milk , filter coffee and a very small selection of bread and cereals . The hot open was a small container of cold scrambled egg and small sausage things we only had the one day of our entire trip it was vile to say the least . Staff were on the whole unpleasant apart from one young girl on reception. They made it plain they did not want you there , why make yourself available to travellers then especially British if you don’t want us there ??On a whole I would never return here or to Berlin in fact , I have passed my comments to easyJet holidays and Hays travel ( UK ) not to send anyone there it’s just not fit for purpose . However, when this includes things that are beyond our control, we feel that we are being treated unfairly. The city tax, for example, which you find ‘bizarre’, is levied by the state of Berlin and must be collected by hotels. We don't like this, but there is nothing we can do about it. Your drastic comments about the service and breakfast are hardly conducive to making any necessary improvements. Laundry services are now provided by external service providers. Hardly any hotels still wash their own laundry these days. Enough has been said about breakfast in other responses. Many guests appreciate the historic ambience of our hotel and the personal service. We are also available for our guests 24 hours a day. Any dissatisfaction can thus be communicated during the stay. We always endeavour to remedy the situation and resolve any shortcomings/conflicts.Readers of this response can get an accurate picture of the overwhelming customer satisfaction on our website.Nevertheless, we remain with kind regards – the team at the Air in Berlin Hotel.

  Comfy break.

  Was a comfortable place to stay during a recent visit to Berlin. Breakfast was good with a variety of cereals, breads, meat and cheese, There was a basic hot food option. The rooms had everything we needed. The beds were a little soft. The hotel itself looks a little dated and some upgrades would make it more appealing.   Good base for trip with friends

  A group of ten of us stayed here in late September and it met our needs perfectly.All we needed was decent base where we could get a good night’s sleep and this hotel was perfect for that.Clean room, comfy bed, decent curtains and quiet. Yes the room was basic and the bathroom (shower room) was small, but that didn’t matter at all as it was just somewhere to rest a weary head after a day sightseeing, eating and drinking.The hotel does free coffee in the morning and a simple, continental type (chargeable) breakfast. It has a bar too.Good location, you can get to bars, restaurants and the u bahn within a 5 min walk.Would happily stay here again for a similar trip if I just needed a basic, albeit basic, base.   Great little independent hotel

  Very well located hotel, not too far from U Bahn and regular rail. I liked that the hotel kept the old town house feel, our room was clean and had a very good sleep for the 7 nights we were here, the only thing I would like to see would be a kettle in the room and that is the only negative I have.The staff were all excellent but particular mention has to go to Stella, the lovely young lady from Sicilia, she was a stand out member of the team engaged in conversation, kept out glasses topped up in the very pretty garden in the hotel.I would happily stay here again.   Stayed here for 7 nights with a group of veterans. My room, had a tub/shower combo while other rooms had a regular shower stall. My mini fridge was missing so that was inconvenient. A small table fan was in the room which was good as it was quite warm. Bed was comfortable. There was a soap/shampoo combo dispenser in bathroom. Clean towels, bed remade, and trash was taken out daily. Staff were super friendly. Breakfast was adequate with hot and cold items. Posted start time was 7am but while we were there coffee was available by 5:30 and some breakfast items already out. Good location for restaurants, markets and trains. Layout was weird - it is a very old building. Despite having an elevator to the different floors, you still had to go up or down stairs with your bags. Elevator was accessed from an outside courtyard.
