  Good location but somewhat lacking

  The apartment was large and light. It had a washing machine. It was a bit difficult to use. The downside is the dingy corridors and lift area to the apartments. It’s dark and a bit smelly and grotty.The apartment was mostly clean although the floor was dirty.

  If you want to travel back in time 30+ years and experience an Eastern block lifestyle, perhaps these apartments might be for you. If you’re looking for a nice holiday rental, keep looking.My colleague and I were booked into these rental apartments as a make-do alternative when rooms at the Hotel Adlon (yes, that one, right across the street), were mistakenly not held for us for the event we were holding there. We each had our own, so my review isn’t based on a single experience alone. The check in location is on one side, but your unit may be on the other side or even further as other reviews have noted. In photos the units look decent, but the reality is you need to climb incredibly dirty and unappealing stairwells (mine had no lighting!) to get to yours. Once you’re in, the units are large and bright enough, but dated and not as clean as I would like (the bathroom, specifically). The beds were clean, but incredibly thin and hard mattresses. Of course, being a rental there is no breakfast so you have to haul your own from the supermarket. Back to the bathroom - I wish I’d taken photos but I was so grossed out by the massive amounts of soap scum and mold in the shower door track. I know it’s hard to clean, but I’ve never seen such a disgusting shower and I’ve stayed in some questionable hotels in America. Absolutely revolting. The shower floor was clean, so I guess that’s something. Please do not stay here. It is not a nice place to return to after a long day of work or touristing. Expand your budget and look elsewhere.

  If what you are looking for in your rental is a terrific location, these apartments will fit the bill. If you also care about responsive hosts, run for your life! Here's our experience. We needed a late check-in and, following their requested procedures, submitted the request and the check in documents they required. We heard nothing for days. We tried calling and didn't get a call-back. WE submitted another set of the requested documents and heard nothing. On the day of our travel, we managed to reach them by phone and they were, initially, unaware of our arrival, but then, upon further search found our reservation. With five minutes to spare before our boarding, they were able to send us the check in procedures. But trying to extract the information was not fun. Upon arrival, at 9 p.m. our key was exactly where they said it would be and we gained admittance to the apartment. Realizing we couldn't figure out the wifi, and with a midnight deadline to submit a signed contract for our work, we tried to reach the emergency after hours number, supposedly available until midnight. No one answered at 10 p.m. At 10:30, leaving a second message, again no one answered. The following morning we stopped in the office to speak to the manager to let them know about the difficulties we had encountered. No manager was available. We stopped in two more times and were stonewalled both times. We explained that we weren't trying to complain so much as to alert them to the problems with their procedures. Still no response from the business manager. Some of our other concerns with the unit: no grab bars in the bathtub, which was quite tall. For older people (as we are), this was certainly a problem. Also, we've rented apartments all over the world and this was the worst supplied apartment we've ever rented. No washing machine detergent. Two tablets for the dishwasher and no more. The tiniest bottle of dishwashing liquid. Two small rolls of toilet paper. No salt, pepper or basic anything in the kitchen. No face towel. Not a single extra thing. The difference between making guests feel welcomed and supported is not a great one, but this company does not go the extra mile. We would not stay here again, principally because no one got back to us about our concerns.

  Be careful what you wish for

  We booked these apartments back in January and as we were a group of 14, requested single beds in the 3 rooms we booked. We booked 5 persons in 2 rooms and 4 in the other. We received confirmation of these numbers and nearer the date of our stay reiterated our request. We were advised that single beds couldn’t be guaranteed however they would do their best. Our group was arriving from different airports at different times of the day and fortunately the first one there, was able to get keys for the three apartments, the rest of us, due to flight delays, were there later than we should have been, and missed the allotted last check in time. (5pm)When the second group arrived, we met up to sort to sort the room allocation out only to find that they hadn’t done anything about the request for single beds, and also didn’t put 5 beds in the rooms as requested. This meant that we only had room for 12 people (including sharing double beds) and the remainder of our group had nowhere to sleep. We rang the emergency number to try and sort it out but he was not only unsympathetic, but couldn’t get hold of anyone to assist and neither could he. We had to book rooms at the airport for the late arrivals (at our cost) and consequently didn’t meet up until the following day. On going to the reception the following morning, to say they couldn’t care less was an understatement!, They even tried to blame us for booking the wrong rooms despite showing them their confirmation email showing the numbers in each room. They even had the audacity to say that they would waive the extra bed charge which would balance out the cost of the rooms at the airport for the rest of our group.They did finally put the extra beds in the rooms as originally requested, but still insisted we had booked the wrong apartment. Customer service is anathema to these people so beware if you book these apartments. If you find something not quite right, it will be your fault not theirs.The place itself is functional, nothing more, but could be great with a little investment and care.

  Excellent location, it’s all you need for a holiday apartment

  The location couldn’t be better - we walked just about everywhere. The apartment was very clean, the beds comfy, the kitchen brand new and is fairly well equipped. There is a big supermarket nearby (not open on Sundays), and U-Bahn station also very near. One bathroom for a family is a bit tricky these days (but we knew this in advance as it’s clearly stated on bookings.com). The apartment is spacious and bright and there are loads of windows. We found it overheated but that’s a personal thing and it was easily dealt with. I would definitely stay here again.
