  Despite some issues on quality and service, it is still a good Hotel to stay in.

  Crowne Plaza Hotel Berlin City CentreMy wife and I arrived earlier than expected but, as a Platinum IHG Member the reception was very accommodating and we were able to check in early. Such are the benefits afforded to the various IHG Club Award Tiers. Eg:Recognition. It took just a few minutes to check in and the receptionist was most professional and attentive. A young neatly attired man who was very friendly towards us both. Then, we took the elevator to our room which we found very pleasing and well provisioned.The amenities were as normally provided by IHG Hotels worldwide and much appreciated.The large smart TV was great. We could stream movies on our Netflix account etc.The room was quiet and the air conditioner worked just fine. There was a bath tub in our room and the water was suitably “Hot” as we liked it.The breakfast Buffet was excellent (also provided free of charge in our Platinum Tier level)Did I mention the highly convenient location of the Hotel?A short distance from the U-Bahn or underground Metro Station. So easy to get to from the Airport by train and Metro.Regrettably, I am only giving this hotel a 3 star rating as (1) the swimming pool was cold (2) There is no restaurant and so cannot earn IHG reward points for dining (3) On the last day before leaving, we returned to the hotel at 15.05 for an afternoon rest. The room had not been made up. I telephoned the reception and informed them and told them as we wanted to take a rest, do not worry about cleaning the room but simply apply 500 green stay awards to my account instead. However, despite a do not disturb card being put on the handle of the door, the housekeeping disturbed us twice to clean the room thereby wakening us both up. So this tarnished our experience at this hotel.

  All surface style I feel. Looks good on entering , lady on reception was very friendly & efficient. Lifts need room card to work, good idea but took me a while before I spotted the sensor. Got to room and it was ok, nice view of nothing and parked cars. Bathroom door would not shut without slamming it. It needs planing to make it fit. An iron is in cupboard, usual hairdryer. TV needs more English speaking channels, as spent way too long scrolling to find something I understood. Then it seemed to just be “news”. Food wise I was very disappointed as the daytime offerings are not great. I am badly gluten intolerant and it was French fries or nothing. They came in a silly cone and there was way too many. I have yet to see what breakfast brings.Up side it is well situated for the stores and transport links. Decor in lobby is nice and clean. Walk to room was fine as it was clean and tidy. Can opt not to have housekeeping in , which I prefer. Get the gluten thing fixed, and bathroom door, and I might consider staying again.   We have just had a lovely 5 night stay at this hotel . We couldn't fault anything about it . It was my husbands birthday when we were there and they left a lovely plate of sweet treats and a happy birthday message . The staff from front of house to the restaurant and bar staff were lovely . When our flight was delayed for 24hrs the staff said we could stay in our suite at a very reasonable price and even threw in a free breakfast. If we're ever back in Better wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again .

  Excellent stay with delicious breakfast, comfortable room, great spa facilities and wonderful service.

  Excellent stay for the 2 of us. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a slight room issue when we checked in (some food and a cot left by previous guests) which was very quickly rectified and we were given a drinks voucher to apologise. The breakfast is excellent with so much choice. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, continental, cooked breakfast options, a fresh omelette cooking station and sparkling wine at the weekend. The pool, sauna and gym are well equipped and very clean. The location is great, very central - right in the city centre close to shops, Berlin zoo and u-Bahn stations.

  Good but a little fraying around the edges

  I have stayed regularly at this hotel and have always had a good experience. It's a good, well situtated, comfortable hotel. I was disappointed that there was no advance warning that the swimming pool and sauna area was closed. There are facilities that usually make the stay here better than elsewhere. I was also very surprised at the €35 each charge for breakfast, this despite the promised but non-existent discount of 10% for being an IHG One Rewards Member. It was only a long tiring journey to Berlin and an outside temperature of -15 celcius, caused me to avail myself of the in-hotel breakfast.The bar staff were non-smiling and seemed disinclined to want to bother. It was unsurprising that a number of guests seemed to be consuming shop bought bottles of beer in the lobby area.
