    Having worked in the four and 5-star hotel industry myself, I am always critical when I stay at a hotel in terms of level, quality and service. This was a most pleasant surprise. Mr Ingo Klettke, with whom I had the pleasure of having a glass of wine, runs an excellent hotel in every aspect. I had two wonderful days and nights at the Garner Hotel, Charlottenburg. My sincere thanks to all the staff for making my stay a lasting great memory.

    I am currently staying at this hotel as I’m participating at the Berlin Marathon tomorrow. As you’d expect I’m looking to be able to relax the 48hrs before the run. Unfortunately it is anything but that in this place. When I checked in I immediately noticed the dirt, sand, grit, dust and hair on the room floor. It seemed this room had never seen a vacuum cleaner. I politely notified reception and they sent up a cleaner who half-heartedly cleaned the floor (still leaving out the bathroom and any corners). It wasn’t until the evening that I used the bathroom and that is when I noticed how disgusting the toilet was. Without being too graphic here but it looked like previous guests had urinated (or else) all over it and the cleaner had simple wiped the seat (judging from the state using a dry cloth). Again I went downstairs and notified them. It was 6:10pm and I was told that everybody had left so not only was there no management to speak to but also not cleaner to come clean. I was offered breakfast free of charge. I had to clean the toilet myself using hand sanitiser.This morning I spoke to another lady at reception who couldn’t care less about the situation. It is now Saturday 3:15pm and my room not only hasn’t been cleaned but also nobody bothered checking in and cleaning the bathroom.Needless to say I am NEVER coming back here nor will I ever recommend this place.

    Awful Stay Avoid if you can

    I had to do early check out because I could not sleep for the first 3 nights due to the bed , pillows very bad , cleaning smell in the room which kept me awake all night. I came on business trip for the ITB during March I had to check out as the only thing the hotel had to provide is rest and i did not get that.

    Stayed hear whilst visiting for Berlin Marathon. Clean and tidy hotel although very basic. No kettle, iron/ board. Service was always good and great transport links to get around. 45 min walk/ 5 min bus ride to the main centre. Would recommend.

    Wonderful hotel in a great quite area of Berlin. Close to public transport, a grocery store, and restaurants. Staff was helpful and friendly and easy to communicate with. The room was spacious. We enjoyed the free drinks when you elected to skip house keeping!
