    Enjoyable stay

    rating22 Feb 2026

Stayed mid Feb and was a nice enjoyable stay. The hotel is only 5 mins from Kochstrasse underground / checkpoint Charlie ( a very central station on the underground ) and is in a nice safe neighbourhood .The bedroom was nice and clean and plenty of space for 2 adults and a child , kettle , tea and coffee sachets included and a plus point was a safe in the room , free of charge, unlike some hotels where a charge is made . Internet connection was good , but only 1 English speaking channel ( which was French channel but with English speech ) channel 19 on TV. The only minus point was the pillows , each bed had a smallish hard cushion and a massive plumpy cushion which i found hard to sleep with . 2 same size pillows would have been better. The bathroom was small but sufficient , the shower was amazing with a strong spray but the shower cubicle itself was rather small but at least it didn't leak water all on the bathroom floor. Towels were changed every 2nd day but everything else was done on daily basis. The breakfast was sufficient with different meats and cheeses , some breakfast cereal , various types of bread / croissants , jam , scrambled and boiled eggs , meatballs , yoghutrs and fruit and cake . There was also a coffee machine serving various types of coffee . Also a hot water machine to make tea . All the staff in hotel were very nice and helpful , especially the restaurant staff who made sure it was clean and the food was replenished when needed .Overall i would definitely recommend this hotel and will have no hesitation in stopping here when i return to Berlin sometime A very ENJOYABLE STAY

Avoid if you would like a pleasant stay

We were a family of 4 people that stayed at the Garner. We booked 2 rooms. They were both of decent size, beds comfortable, Internet fine. Good location as it is a very central, near Checkpoint Charlie, and Underground Stations. Breakfast was good, with a great variety to choose from. Restaurant wasn’t open as they were doing some work there.Service was bad. The problem was that 1 of the rooms smelled. First it smelled like someone had been sick. They send the cleaner up, who felt that spraying a lot of a perfumed spray would be better than cleaning. I went to complained again, asking to change rooms. I was told they were fully booked and I couldn’t. I asked him to come to our room to see how bad it was. He was very reluctant and but I managed to convince him to come up. He agreed it still smelled bad. I showed him what needed to be cleaned. We then left sightseeing and came back late. The sick smell was much better, the stain was still visible but now there was a bad sewage smell coming from the bathroom. It was really bad. We opened the windows for a bit as it was freezing. When I mentioned it again in the morning we were told the cleaner will check the room. Again we went out till late. It stank when we came home. The next morning I complained again. Luckily the manager was there and said something about the rückflow? not done properly and went straight up to fix it. So we had one enjoyable night at the hotel. If it is such a common problem staff don’t know how to fix it. I can not recommend this hotel at all.

    Great value, would stay again

Overall, a good experience. Check in was easy, staff were friendly enough, and the room was a clean, comfortable place to rest for the night. The hotel is very conveniently located relative to transit and a fair walking distance from lots of places to see and eat. If you book the breakfast package, the coffee is good and there’s a decent selection of fresh breads and pastries (along with deli meats, cheese, fruits, and yogurts/toppings). One note about our room - we requested two twins but settled for a queen sized bed (stated as “king size” but felt more like a queen). The bed sank on one side, so one of us didn’t sleep too well (to be fair, we didn’t complain or ask for a room change - so the hotel didn’t have a chance to make it right). We assumed our two twin bed request wasn’t available due to a busy season, so it was unlikely we could get a decent room change. Generally, this is not a “luxury” hotel but our stay was well worth it for the price we paid, and we would stay again.
