  Average hostel - does the job but not the best location

  I stayed in a twin share room. Everything was fine and kind of what you expect from a hostel - beds were clean and comfortable, slightly tatty furniture but does the trick and had clean bathrooms. There were 24/7 staff at reception which was good, a secure luggage storage room and a reasonable breakfast buffet. Overall everything in the hostel was perfectly fine and the price is good. The location wasn't ideal as it wasn't nearby any cool areas. However, it's not too far from a metro station (about 5-10 minutes walk) and Berlin has a great public transport system. If you need somewhere as a base just for sleeping and you spend your days out and about - this will do the trick.

  We stayed for 10 days, everything was perfect. The only thing that bothered me was that the shower was a bit small. Other than that, everything was perfect! There is a pharmacy next to the hostel, a bakery and a bus station.

  The Grqnd Hyatt Berlin is my stay of choice when in Berlin. It’s Potsdamer Platz location is ideal for the main sights, connects to the airport and many terrific eateries. The room and breakfast quality are excellent and it’s small enough to give personal service.

  Worst Place to Stay in Berlin

  I tried to get some sleep with ear plugs, but it was impossible due to a variety of reasons including a pigeon’s nest outside the window, an itchy bed probably due to bed bugs, creaky stairs, guests outside in the hall, a train, etc. To top it all off, the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper during the night, I have never seen that happen at a hostel before. The showers were not clean and looked like prison showers not in a good way.The next morning, I was going to ask the receptionist if they could help by offering a different room, but the receptionist only spoke German. He was unhelpful and just provided me with a wrong email address to contact the manager. I told him that since he could not help me, I would check out and ask for a refund for the nights that I did not stay which I think is fair. I checked out and had to find another place to stay. I looked on the website to find the right email address to discuss with the manager a way to process a refund as I booked a 9 night stay but only stayed 1 night. The manager emails later in the day saying let’s look at other rooms and I am like I already checked out because no one was on-site at 9 am on a Friday to help which is ridiculous. Thus far, I still have not received a refund, and they have probably decided to rent the room out to someone else. This property stole from me. They are keeping the money that I paid for a service they did not provide which is the definition of theft.

  Just like every other hostel in Berlin, their system is biased towards their workers and not the clients. For example they offered me to do the laundry for 9 Euros when I got my clothes back they smelt very bad and worse than their initial condition. When I complained about it , they were like “what do you expect us to do” , and they acted like it was not their responsibility. They simply didn’t care about the complaint and never admitted that their laundry system is trash. In Berlin, (Hostels e specifically )expect to not get your full rights, and unfortunately you can’t do much about it. Workers will side with each other to make you look wrong, till you’re just hopeless about getting your rights or what you paid for. Also their shower system is extremely irritating which they never mention. If you use the shower it cuts off the water every 30 seconds so you don’t consume much water. If you’re taking a dump the electricity goes off and it’s just you in a black dark space. You pay money, but they rip your rights. These are the systems in Berlin Hostels. It’s just a pure shame.
