A decent place with a couple of significant flaws

    rating26 Nov 2025

We were at the Steglitz for a week while traveling around Germany with another couple, and while it's by no means a terrible hotel, it fails with a few basics. The first is with the coffee. There's no in-room coffee and there's no complementary coffee in the lobby. Instead, there's a coffee station on each floor with a machine that requires 1 Euro and which dispenses bad coffee. This is not up to the standard of comparable hotels in which you get your bad coffee (and often, even good coffee!) for no extra charge. (We weren't paying for breakfast, so maybe that's where they serve the good coffee.) NIckel-and-diming customers for bad coffee means one star down. The second issue is that the rooms have glass doors for the bathrooms. Yes, it's wavy glass. No, it doesn't obscure the toilet and whatever it's being used for. A second star down. Otherwise, it's just fine. The rooms are big enough and clean enough. Beds are comfy, towels are good enough. The staff in general is great (although the night clerk was a little grouchy when I asked him for ten 1 Euro coins for coffee). The bar is quite cozy and quite nice, with pretty decent cocktails. Location is excellent, right by the trains, a mall, and a great Italian restaurant (Piazza Venezia). There was even an outdoor market across the street. So three stars. Mike sez check it out if you want to pay for breakfast and get your coffee there and if you don't mind the feeling of using a bathroom in a glass house.

    Great hotel, Bad Pillows

    rating27 Oct 2025

Located centrally in Steglitz this excellent hotel is probably most busy during the week as a business hotel. The staff and friendly and efficient. The railway station is next door as are the buses with lots of shops and bars very close by also. The interior of the hotel is slightly dated, but probably quite typical for Germany. Every space is very clean and well maintained. The cocktail bar was very nice and we were well looked after. We didn't have breakfast on site as there were so many options around such as the bakery or the supermarket or many cafes. The room itself was like the rest of the hotel. Very clean and a bit old fashioned but everything worked. My main complaint is the quality of the pillows. I may have been using them wrong but a limp sack with a small amount of filling meant I had to fold it twice into an uncomfortable square. The mattress was quite firm and the headboard had an uncomfortable lip that juts out making it impossible to sit up with your back supported. A shame that this detail, which is so vital to a hotel, is the one where the hotel falls down. I hope they take a long look at the sleeping arrangements when they next do a refurbishment.

    Clean and comfortable weekend stay.

    rating14 Apr 2025

Had a very good weekend stay at Steglitz International to see friends in Berlin. Reception staff very organised and friendly, room very clean and comfortable, for me a good location to meet friends and get around Berlin. Also mention for breakfast staff, a friend joined me and the staff were most helpful in recording the details accurately.

Very poor on delivering some basics

    rating15 Oct 2024

For a 4 star hotel the Steglitz hotel really dissappointed. On a very basic level the hotel Wifi is the worst Wi-fi I have experienced in a hotel.Form wither the hotel room or in reception and using either of my mobiles or laptop the internet keeps dropping out and you hve to leep on sigining in again that I gave up. This is a very basic thing that should work properly. A disgrace to be honest! The room itself was spacious and clean.I turned on the TV to try and find a English speaking channel that at least had one channle that had English news but nothing. A lot of the channels didnt work and the one channel I thought worked (CNN International), didnt...Again a failure on a very basic level. Finally Breakfast was in a beautful dining room but poor. The hotel breakfast was generally scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. The scrambled eggs were not very warm, the bacon was so overcooked when you went to pull a strip it just cracked it was so hard. The sausages were not of such a good quality. The coffee was not very good either.Overall for a 4 Star hotel it failed miserably. Sorry to say that I would never rebook here. A lot of work needed on the the very basic things mentioned above.

Woeful WiFi but otherwise a good hotel

    rating02 Jul 2024

The HOTEL STEGLITZ INTERNATIONAL has a great location with prices on some nights that are great value. My big complaint is that the WiFi was rubbish - at times you couldn’t even connect and when you did it was slow and randomly disconnected. When I asked the staff in reception they said it was because the hotel was busy - not an excuse. I ended up burning my cell phone data allowance to do a limited set of my business emails. The breakfast is a little pricey compared to street prices for food but the quality and selection are good and you can fill up to face the day in a relaxed environment. On the plus side my room was just what I needed, good bed, good bathroom and air conditioning however not all my colleagues reported the same with no air conditioning in some rooms. If you get a room with a water bed and don’t like it ask to swap as there are many with good normal mattresses. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
