  Very basic room, very clean throughout. Shower head had a mind of its own! Bed was hard but perhaps that was a personal preference. Staff were lovely. Very easy check in/out.Great location, close to Berlin wall and Checkpoint Charlie. Murphys Irish bar was close to Checkpoint Charlie and very reasonably priced. Overall, good hotel.   Great choice for central location on a budget

  If you want a central location this is good value. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It’s a little tired but it’s clean and the rooms are comfortable, spacious and quiet (especially given we were facing out to the main road) It’s about 5 mins walk from Checkpoint Charlie and 20 mins from Museum Island.   To start with even if named Ibis Berlin City Potsdamer Platz this hotel is not in the Platz itself. It is like 850-1000 m away dependig on the route you take so yes you can walk to but still a big difference. On the other hand you have a metro station nearby and you also can take a bus to the Postdammer platz but in the peak hours that one is very crowded I actually ended up walking as I couldn't get in. For visiting, take a metro pass and use the metro lines.We booked a room for the family and I have to say I regretted immediately as we got in as it was advertised as a suite which was far from reality. The space was very small and whatever was there was just for use of two people from chairs to towels etc so I don't understand why this hotel is advertised as family friendly when it comes to room usage definitely not a place to go in one room with 2 kids. Also no facilities inside and very low storage space.Overall that was a room just to sleep in. Bathroom in the classical Ibis prefabricated style, issue with water supply that came out dirty and when you splashed the toilet actually water was somehow managing to spray your feet even if the lid was closed... Not very clean you could see they just superficially prepared the room.For the cool Berlin I expected completly different conditions but also a very nice service which was the oposite when it came to reception. We arrived just a bit before check in and as we had booked museum tickets at fixed hour so we expected they wouldnt mind checking us in already but the lady at reception didn`t even bothered to check in the system she just told us they just check in per their standard hours. We came by car so no issue leaving our luggage there but there were other clients who were even less lucky as they were not even allowed to use a storage room as they are full...Same reception when we complained the water coming out in the bathroom is dirty they told us they dont see any issue and I should just check it again ... Of course it was still dirty and no one was sent to at least check it if not fix it.We also asked another reception person to recommend some restaurant and they gave us the name of a clasical tourist trap that was compeltly on the other side of the city. So absolutly no client orientated attitude.We didnt take breakfast there as initially we thought will decide on place but when we saw the place, crowded, not very clean we said will just take it somewhere else. Also the common toilets on the grounds were very bad looking.So overal I cannot recommend this hotel from any perspective, plus is rather expensive for a chain budget one.   Receptionist Demanded Room Keys Back After We Paid

  We are loyal Accor members, but this experience was unacceptable. The receptionist Peter was incredibly rude. I checked in, paid the hotel tax, and he told me everything else was paid for (it was). He handed me the keys. Two minutes later, he demanded the room keys back, claiming we had cancelled the reservation and hadn’t paid. He was nasty and rude about it. We had emailed to inquire about cancelling the reservation for a credit, but did not go through with it. He started yelling at me. Only when I showed him the confirmed payment (booked through our credit card), did he say everything was fine. No apology. He clearly messed up, and treated us so disrespectfully because of it. What an awful start to our trip.   If you are looking for somewhere close to the Centre, clean and comfortable this place is ideal.Breakfast is available but we used local cafes. Good selection of restaurants around too.There are selection of drinks & snacks available 24/7.No frills but no too basic.
