A “meh” initial experience sinks to downright awful

    rating14 Mar 2026

So incredibly disappointing. As a lifetime platinum member I understand when things occasionally go wrong — but the true test of a good hotel is how the management and staff address any such bumps or interruptions in excellent service. I have to say — the team at Westin Grand Hotel failed at an epic level on my recent visit. The pathetic response to a major issue was so unbelievably poor that the whole experience has me seriously questioning my loyalty to the entire brand. Hilton — are you listening? I might be ready to make a jump after decades of devotion.Yes, it was actually that bad. Andrea Weiner, Sonstige at The Westin Grand Berlin, responded to this review Dear Christian P,Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially as a valued lifetime platinum member. It is disappointing to hear that you encountered significant issues during your visit, and I understand how crucial it is for our management and staff to respond effectively to such situations. While I cannot change the past, I assure you that your comments will be reviewed internally to ensure we improve our service. We strive to create exceptional experiences for all our guests, and I regret that we fell short during your time with us. Your loyalty is important to us, and we appreciate your dedication to our brand over the years.Thank you once again for your feedback. We hope to have the opportunity to restore your faith in The Westin Grand Berlin in the future.Best regards, The Westin Grand Berlin-Team, Andrea Weiner

Great central location, fantastic hotel, very unique.

    rating23 Jan 2026

Checked in a little late, staff were all friendly, professional and spoke perfect English. Our room on the 3rd floor was fabulous, the bed was enormous with a lovely comfortable mattress with no roll together. The room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was great quality and the shower was nice and hot and big.The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring Berlin. Being on the road means that there is quite a lot of noise outside from traffic even with the window shut, but I suppose you have to expect her being in the City Centre. It was difficult to find the affordable hotels in the immediate vicinity, but we did find a fantastic Thai restaurant just around the corner called bonjour Thai - the food and atmosphere were fab. We didn’t try the spa as we didn’t have time during this visit, and we didn’t buy breakfast as the prices are extortionate, and we usually end up having just a bit of porridge. But the room was worth the stay and would definitely come again. Andrea Weiner, Sonstige at The Westin Grand Berlin, responded to this review Dear 3ceesrwinners,Thank you for your thoughtful feedback regarding your recent stay at The Westin Grand Berlin. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our central location and found our staff to be friendly and professional. It is gratifying to know that you appreciated the comfort of your room and the quality of the amenities provided. We acknowledge your comments regarding the street noise, which can be expected in a vibrant city center such as Berlin. Your insights about the breakfast pricing have been noted; we strive to offer a variety of dining options to accommodate diverse preferences. We regret that you did not have the opportunity to experience our spa, as it is designed to provide a rejuvenating retreat for our guests. We appreciate your kind words and are pleased to learn that you would consider staying with us again. Thank you once more for your valuable feedback.Best regards, The Westin Grand Berlin.-Team, Andrea Weiner

Overall nice Westin in a good part of Berlin

    rating04 Jan 2026

Overall a full service, clean hotel in a good location. Arrival: Arrived by Uber from the main train station. No doormen upon arrival.Check in: Fairly efficient check in process. Asked for a free room upgrade based on my Marriott/Westin status and the clerk upgraded us to a junior suite. Room Junior Suite 572: A large, comfortable room, huge by European standards. The suite included a large living room and a separate bedroom with king bed. Both the living room and bedroom had smallish Samsung TVs (small by U.S. standards). Nice coffee maker and mini refrigerator. Bathroom: Decent bathroom with good counter space and great lighting. Downside is no tub- shower only. Water pressure was adequate. Mediocre but functional hair dryer.Bed: King sized bed with decent linens. We had to remove the heavy liner from the duvet because the room was on the warm side. Sleep quality: Better than average, but some street noise made its way through the windows.Housekeeping: Unless you’re proactive in asking, the housekeeping is below average. For example, we had no facial tissues for 2 days. Once we left a note and a tip, the facial tissue was restocked. Sometimes complimentary water was restocked, some days not. Breakfast restaurant: Based on our Marriott status, we received a nice complimentary breakfasts. Service at the breakfast restaurant is pathetic, but the food was good. We consistently were not served coffee. So we simply grabbed coffee urns each morning. Staff for some reason only offered coffee and any level of service to older Germans. Anyone foreign or young the staff ignored. Overall service: Between reluctant and non-existent. That’s Germany for you. Don’t expect helpful staff. Gym: Small but functional gym with standard exercise equipment like treadmills, weights, etc. Power outlets: Be sure to bring adapters for German outlets. The room had no U.S.-type power outlets. Misc: (1) On our last day, we found a silverfish in the bathroom. Also, this hotel allows pets. We consistently heard dogs barking on rooms. (2) There’s a Rewe grocery store about 5 blocks away from the hotel. Bring reusable grocery bags to haul your purchases back to the hotel. (3) We were skeptical but tried a Kebab restaurant nearby. Wow! The Donor kebaps are great! Try Mr. Kebab 4 blocks away. Andrea Weiner, Sonstige at The Westin Grand Berlin, responded to this review Dear utfiero,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at The Westin Grand Berlin. We are pleased to hear that you found our hotel clean and well-located, and that you enjoyed your complimentary room upgrade. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced regarding housekeeping and service at the breakfast restaurant. Your comments regarding the inconsistency in housekeeping and the attentiveness of our breakfast staff have been duly noted. We strive to provide a high level of service to all our guests, and it is concerning to learn that we fell short in this regard during your visit.Additionally, we appreciate your understanding regarding our room amenities and the need for power adapters, as we aim to accommodate our international guests as best as possible. We also regret the disturbance caused by street noise and any unwanted pet-related sounds. Thank you for your helpful suggestions and for highlighting local attractions. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.Best regards, The Westin Grand Berlin-Team, Andrea Weiner
