    Back again

    rating03 May 2026

Hello! We were excited to be back here again. Last year the bar area was being renovated and now it’s done and looks great. There were even people sitting there having a drink and making the experience more pleasant. Well done. As before, we had a corner room which is huge and even has a wardrobe. And the windows open a bit! You might not want to given the main road outside (but we’re from north London, we’re used to noise!). We’d advise opening the window when you go out and rely on the aircon at night. Oh and bring ear plugs. Now, Mercure, the next task with this hotel is to refurbish the rooms, particularly the bathrooms. They’re ok, nothing much wrong with them ( ours was big), but a more modern shower would be appreciated, one that didn’t require lifting an old leg over the side of a bath! As I’ve mentioned in my other reviews, the U-Bahn is about five minutes away and Hermanstrasse has.supermarkets, pharmacy , some cafes and restaurants. Our favourite craft beer bar (Muted Horn) is a short walk away. If you turn left outside the hotel and keep walking you get to Karl-Marx Strasse with all the shops. Cross over that road and keep walking and you get to the canal. Left along the canal, you will eventually get to the Spree. It’s a lovely walk and we really recommend it. Our daughter lives in Berlin so we’re here quite a lot. We’re very likely to come back to this hotel next time. Feels like home.

    Extremely poor. Avoid!!!

    rating01 Nov 2025

I have no idea why this hotel has good reviews. It is in the back end of nowhere, many miles from anywhere worth seeing in Berlin. So, one spends hours on end travelling to see anything. Therefore, it is very overpriced for its location and quality. Staff are rude, patronising and completely indifferent. One particular member of staff on the front desk was so rude and sarcastic, when l arrived after a very long journey, that my friend and l were left open-jawed. I will spare him the embarrassment of naming him, though l am tempted.Simple requests are met with sarcastic responses and amazement, the same in the bar/restaurant, as if guests are an unnecessary imposition. The staff in the bar/restaurant spend most of their time chatting, and chewing gum, and show visible irritation, when you interrupt them to ask for a meal, drink etc. Guests are incidental. The main event is their chatting.I would not recommend this horrible hotel to my worst enemy. Management clearly have NO idea about service, and have no eye on their staff. It’s a chain, so be warned. Nothing is personalized. It’s faceless. Nobody seems to care. There was one lady, who was on duty for about a day of my stay, and she was more helpful, though staff cannot seem to manage to do anything as simple as even basic requests. They even get that wrong, and look annoyed at being asked to do anything at all. Rooms are fairly spacious and clean, but lack any character. The corridors and carpeting are in dire need of an update, and look very much like something out of the gothic horror film, ‘The Shining’. According to my friend, breakfast was fairly good and varied, but l avoided it, as it was a whopping 24 euros per day, on top of the very expensive room charges. We made the mistake of having dinner there one day. Don’t do it! Not only will you encounter rude, disinterested service, with staff amazed that you interrupted their three, or four way conversation, but the portions are absolutely minuscule, not tasty and extortionately expensive, as in 20-30 euros for something smaller than a starter in the UK. We were shocked. Never again! The entire place has a cold, faceless atmosphere. The rooms are extremely dimly lit (is this to save money on electricity, perhaps?). I have never known such dark hotel rooms, or such complicated lighting. The bathrooms are big and clean. Avoid, avoid, avoid! You can find less expensive, friendlier and far more central hotels, with good service for less money. Guest Service Front Office, Guest Services / Front Office at Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We take your comments seriously and would like to address a few points to offer our perspective and clarify potential misunderstandings. Our team is fundamentally committed to providing all guests with a pleasant and professional experience. If there were moments of inattentiveness or impolite behavior during your stay, we sincerely regret that. Especially during peak times, processes may not always run smoothly, however, this is by no means a sign of disinterest. Many of our staff members dedicate themselves to their work with great passion, which is reflected in numerous other guest reviews.Regarding the location, our hotel is situated in Berlin’s Neukölln district, a vibrant area known for its cultural diversity, creative scene, and lively gastronomy. Many guests appreciate this multicultural charm and the authentic Berlin atmosphere. The connection to the city center is excellent, with a subway station directly at the hotel and a taxi stand right outside. This allows easy and quick access to major sights while enjoying the tranquility of a more relaxed setting. As for our culinary offerings, we place great emphasis on quality, freshness, and seasonal ingredients. Our pricing is aligned with comparable establishments in our category. We’re sorry if the portion sizes or service did not meet your expectations. We continuously strive to improve and take your feedback seriously. Our rooms are regularly cleaned and maintained. We’re pleased that you highlighted their cleanliness and spaciousness. The lighting is intentionally designed to create a cozy atmosphere. Renovations and modernizations are part of our ongoing planning and are being implemented step by step.We understand that certain negative experiences may have impacted your overall impression. Nevertheless, we’d like to emphasize that many of our guests truly enjoy their stay with us and especially value the personal service, the environment, and cleanliness. We would be delighted if you gave us another opportunity in the future to show you the quality of our hotel. Best wishes from the Mercure team

Solid choice for work, less so for leisure

    rating22 Oct 2025

A solid, business-minded hotel in the Neukölln district, a few steps from Boddinstraße U-Bahn and with plenty of shops and supermarkets nearby. I was here for three nights running a seminar and found it perfectly functional for that purpose. The bar area is pleasant enough for an evening drink, though the reception and conference areas could do with a little more fresh air — you can feel it getting a touch stuffy at times. My room, thankfully, made up for it: spacious, tidy, and blessed with a window that actually opens properly — a small luxury I appreciate more than most. Lunches were served on-site, all fine, and the staff were friendly and efficient throughout. The area itself is not one I’d choose for a weekend break — ambulances and police sirens are part of the city’s background music — but then again, this is Berlin, not the Black Forest. For local business meetings or anyone wanting quick access to public transport, the Mercure Tempelhof does the job.Verdict: Not charming (it is Mercure and that is not their aim generally), but competent. I’d stay again for work, though probably not for pleasure. Guest Service Front Office, Gästeservice/Empfang at Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for your detailed and thoughtful review. We're pleased to hear that our hotel served you well during your seminar and that you found the location, room, and service suitable for your business needs.Your comments about the proximity to public transport and nearby shops are much appreciated, as is your feedback on the bar area and the need for better ventilation in the reception and conference spaces. We'll certainly take that into consideration as we continue to improve our facilities. We're glad your room provided the comfort and quiet you needed, and it's great to know that the opening window was a welcome touch. Also, thank you for highlighting the friendliness and efficiency of our team, we’ll be sure to pass that along. We understand that the surrounding area may not be ideal for a leisurely weekend escape, but as you rightly pointed out, Berlin has its own rhythm. For business travelers and those seeking excellent transport connections, we aim to offer a reliable and practical stay.Best wishes from the Mercure team

    Nice and clean

    rating07 Oct 2025

    1) All the good thingsFirst impressions: Hotel is on the corner, entrance is around the corner. Clean, newish-looking lobby with a small seating area, reception counter and bar. good airy vibe. Room: Standard room - Good size, enough for 2 people and a child. There are 2 cabinets, and a tiny (!) ref, safe, luggage space; queen bed, side tables, a desk, arm chair and small table, TV. Big windows with easy to use blinds, so the room gets a lot of natural light when you want it. One window can be partially opened to let in fresh air. Carpet - At first, I was wary of dust, but fortunately, they vacuum every morning.Amenities: Free instant coffee, tea and cream; shampoo, body wash, toilet paper, tissue, towelsExtras:- Basic gym for cardio and weights!- And something really useful: an ironing station. This is located in a corner of the floor and is really basic: an ironing board and a good working iron, plus a bottle of water for the steam function. But I really appreciated it because first, there’s no need to wait for room service to bring up an iron and second, it’s free.Service: Reception people are helpful and cleaning staff do a good job.2) Both a good and bad thing: The Location - Seriously convenient location near restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy, 5 minute walk to the U-bahn or bus station. Everything you need is down the street or around the corner. The bad: First, you will hear city noise at night. This isn’t a quiet area. Second, the area feels a little sketchy at night and lighting along the inner streets is minimal. Third, it takes about 20+ minutes on the u-bahn to reach certain key tourist areas like museum island.3) Not good - Free WiFi - Incredibly sloooow; seems like there’s fast wifi that but it has to be paid for. Really?Nit picks: TV - German cable TV with no smart apps; bottled water - Not free & not cheap eitherOverall: Nice, satisfactory experience Guest Service Front Office, Gästeservice/Empfang at Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! Back again

    rating04 Aug 2025

Our third visit to this hotel, so I guess they must be doing something right! We had a ‘superior’ room, which in addition to a very comfy large double, has a sofabed, a desk with fridge under the desk, a proper wardrobe rather than the usual small hanging space, safe in the wardrobe, coffee machine and kettle, comfy armchair and a spectacularly huge tv on which we enjoyed watching the Women’s Euros. Good WiFi (you have to log on afresh every day with a code), extra fast, extra cost. A previous visit we had the basic WiFi which was pretty good. Aircon worked fine. This time we had a slightly more interesting view of Hermannstraße rather than the view of flat roofs in the area which you get from the back of the hotel. Not much street noise if the windows are shut (but do bring earplugs just in case). The hotel is being refurbished, the bar area on the ground floor is currently closed and smells of wood chip. We had our complimentary drinks in the first floor restaurant which had only one other group of visitors there, so it was quiet and not particularly welcoming. Still, there are supermarkets in the area selling craft beers and a fridge in the room. There are also two of our favourite Berlin bars in walking distance. We opted to not have our room cleaned every day (really not necessary), but when we came across cleaning staff they were all very pleasant, as are the reception staff. Good value hotel. We didn’t have the breakfast or any meals here. The area is very mixed. Loads of apartments people actually live in (ie not all AirBnB) Turkish late night shops, lots of kebab places, a couple of large supermarkets, Boddingstrase U-bahn across the road, nice walks into Newköln and the canals, and the huge Templehof field nearby. We enjoyed our visit greatly. After a trip involving three other hotels which were not quite to our liking it felt like coming home! Guest Service Front Office, Gästeservice/Empfang at Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof, responded to this review Dear Guest,We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof.
