  TAKE AN EYE MASK!

  Our room was very spacious and comfortable. It's one of those beautiful old school Berlin buildings with gloriously high ceilings and sweeping wooden floored corridors. Whole place is nice and clean but there's only one (very nice) shower facility to serve all rooms and during our stay the shower was only running cold so we used the attachment over the bath which was lovely and warm. Would recommend you take an eye mask as the curtains are extremely thin and inadequate. It's also on a busy road so take earplugs. When we arrived there was nobody there to assist us in getting in. We waited outside until another guest helped us as we couldn't get an answer from any of the phone numbers provided. We later discovered a door code and safe code to collect our keys was given at the bottom of an email. Not hugely obvious or conventional but we got in no problem after that. All in all great location and acceptable standard. Probably wouldn't stay again but that's because I need my room as dark as a cave to get some decent sleep.

  Big room, pretty easy and great location

  We were really surprised by the spacious room. Shared bathroom and toilets are clean, the water wasn't really hot but I wasn't cold as well. Great location and free parking in front of the place. Only downside is it's a little noisy, you can hear everything and the room is very light to sleep in. Overall great value for the money you're paying.

  The place isn't obvious to anyone who didn't know about it. Took us a while to find the place. It's situated next door to a pub which had a small a4 sized sign on the door saying 'Pension 1'.Good for money, well secure. Has around 10 rooms of great size. But the only downfall is the bed is uncomfortable and the pillow, well the pillow doesn't support you head in any way, you may aswell be sleeping without it. Because of these you then wake up with a bad back and sore neck. Location is great though about 2 minutes from a tube station called 'Mehringdamm' which is around the corner (if you take the right exit). We took the incorrect one on the first night taking us so far away. There's so much you can do here from the German market to Checkpoint Charlie. Enjoy your stay

  Huge Clean rooms, fantastic location but hot and loud!

  I have never stayed in a pension before and was initially nervous when we arrived to a poorly lit corridoor full if graffiti but I had absolutely no need to be! In fact I grew to appreciate it as well fitting with the area. The place was spotless and the young lad who checked us in was very plesent, we did not see him or anyone else the entire stay which was great for us, though we did hear them in the corridor on occasion. The bathroom was spacious and far nicer than we expected there was also an additional toilet so no problems with waiting. The transport links were excellent. what let this place down for us was the fact the room was incredibly stuffy even with the windows wide open there was absolutely no breeze. The addition of noise from the restaurants on the pavement below (which was significantly louder towards the end of the week and I would imagine the weekend even more so) made it hard to sleep at times and it was hard to hear the television in the evenings. The road outside is very busy at all times of day with street cleaners early in the morning and sirens intermittently. There was a giant Street light directly outside our window which lit up our room all night an eye mask solved this problem for me! With the windows shut there was no noise though! I feel this review does not do the place justice as it seems very negative, we would stay here again in colder weather thst would enable is to keep the windows closed! A great price for clean facilities in an exciting neighbourhood! The addition of a fan and thicker curtains would greatly improve ones stay.
