  Very plush hotel right next door to Berlin hbf (main) train station with its many shops and a 15 minutes walk to Brandenberg Gates and 30 from Checkpoint Charlie. Nice casual bar on the riverfront a 5 minute walk. Restaurants a bit limited in the area . Nice hotel bar does food until midnight. Arrived at 2pm and was pleased my room was available for a slightly early check in. Excellent breakfast.Room very good with all you need but the air con needed to be activated at reception and even when it was, and I put the temperature to the lowest I could, the room was too warm.   Very disappointed in this Hotel. First of all they were having a convention/meeting and instead of setting up in a meeting room they took ALL the seating out of the lobby and used the area for the meeting. What about the rest of your guest? We arrived early and requested an early check in. Don’t bother unless you paid for it in advance. Under no circumstances will you be given free early check in. They will lie and say the room is not ready. Checked three times and always the same answer often no in a rude tone, the rooms not ready. Then miraculously at exactly 3:00 pm the room was ready. No place to sit in the lobby and no early check in. They were basically saying F?$& You. Now they had some sitting on the 2nd floor but without having checked in we did not have access to the elevator. So this 73 year old man with a heart condition had to climb up about 30 ft by stairs. On a positive note the room was very nice. This still did not makeup for the lack of anything resembling a lobby. Never again with this Hotel chain. There are plenty of options out there where the staff cares about ALL their guests. This is not b one of them. We especially regret that you perceived our staff as unfriendly and that the lack of available seating for you and your companion caused additional inconvenience. This certainly does not reflect the level of service we strive to provide to our guests.We would like to point out that we are a business hotel, and it can occasionally happen that the lobby becomes busier during coffee breaks or lunch periods connected to events and conferences. We always do our very best to prepare rooms for our guests as early as possible. However, especially on fully booked days, guaranteed check-in is from 3:00 PM onwards. If rooms within the booked category are available earlier, we are happy to offer early check-in for an additional charge. Unfortunately, this cannot always be guaranteed, as we also maintain a limited number of rooms reserved for VIP guests, members, and returning loyal guests.We are very sorry that a different impression was created. However, at this point, we are unable to confirm that our team behaved inattentively or unfriendly during the situation described. Furthermore, we are not aware of all four elevators being out of service, requiring you to use the stairs.Please rest assured that we take your feedback very seriously and will discuss the points you raised internally with the relevant teams — particularly regarding communication, guest comfort, and the organization of events in public areas.We are pleased to hear that you liked the room itself, even though this unfortunately could not compensate for your overall experience.Thank you once again for your honest feedback, and we sincerely regret that we were unable to convince you of our service standards on this occasion.Kind regards,Daniel Hunger

  Handy location for the train station, not so good for the noise from said train station...Room was smaller than website photos suggested, which reminded me of the IKEA smaller furniture advert, but the sleep wasn't so amusing.... noise...Glass panel doors are OK for couples, perhaps not for 2 sharing as twin bedroom arrangement... also to pass through the bathroom to get to the toilet [glass] door... a separate toilet /WC should be available at price paid... and if you needed the loo in the night, switching on the bathroom light lit up the whole room, due to said glass door and glass walls... not helpful...Breakfast on day1 was ok, although none of the foods were labelled regarding allergens, quite a concern for nut allergy. This was raised with front desk, but nothing actioned, so food avoidance was key...Breakfast on day2 was awful, clearly bad timing, as the hotel appeared to be hosting a conference of some type, and the conference guests were akin to set of locusts stripping the food bare... we had orange juice, and a very light breakfast as there was no hot food left... This was not ideal when this is wrapped into the price as a selling point...Overall it was OK, but nothing super special for the price charged... hence an average rating... the location was handy for Brandenburg Gate etc. Disappointed to read later that we were meant to be offered a room upgrade due to our booking arrangement and club membership, but this did not happen... perhaps overbooked...   Steigenberger love - new favorite hotel brand

  Perfect location, great value, nice room and fantastic sauna area. We’ve stayed in some of the nicest hotels in the world and the Steigenberger brand was new to us. What a delightful surprise. Our stay in Berlin last year was at the Ritz and although we loved it there, we felt the value was superb at Steigenberger was superior and the proximity to the train station was fantastic. Quiet, clean and great. Just wish we had a tub. We also stayed the night after this in Leipzig and enjoyed the brand so much we switched our upcoming reservation in Vienna from Hilton to the Steigenberger.   Happy with this choice.Very centrally located and 1 minute walk from central Berlin train station.Because of my membership status was able to check in early and set off on my day exploring the city.Rooms are well appointed and quiet.I did not eat there or use spa or gym facilities so can't comment on those.Would definitely recommend.
