    A good pension

    rating19 Sept 2021

Some of these reviews are very harsh but if you have stayed in a pension before it meets expectations. I was worried at the beginning when I read the reviews but pleasantly surprised.Very little English is spoken but enough to get by. Breakfast was a buffet German style and well stocked with cold meat and cheese, bread and cereals. The single room was small but had a sink and shower cubicle in. The balcony was a plus. What made this a 3 star review? The noise, the first night I was woken up at 3am by shouting in the corridor (it wasn't English or German). At its a pension there is no 24 hour reception or security people which means it's up to people to be conscious of others. Most mornings I was spoken up by others (thankfully not as early). The surrounding area is ok but people to drink/smoke on the steps from the bar next door.Would I come back yes but with ear plugs! As for the price is very good!

Trip Berlin, coinciding to Berlin Marathon

    rating08 Oct 2019

Unfortunately my trip to Berlin coincided with the Berlin Marathon, major event. All places researched were sold out and had to settle with this hotel/pension. Arrived at hotel as previously notified to front desk by 11:30 pm, no front desk attending our calls from outside. Three residents of the building were drinking beer and smoking at the narrow stairs of the building’s entrance and took pity of us letting us in. Went up to lobby and girl did not even apologized, gave us keys and pointed at room. Read below about pros and cons, overall poor experience especially due to price.Pros: great location for transit, decent breakfast to fuel up for the day.Cons: old building/rooms/furniture, no elevator (if you need it), only 1 set of keys for 3 people, can be noisy, it is located in the first 2 floors of a classic 5 floor building with regular residents, smoking smell is constant, poor 3 rd bed/cot, unfriendly staff. Price due to event.

Room: Single, although I booked a twin. The room was extreme narrow. The bed was no bigger than a prison cell bed. The blankets were minimal and just, only just, kept me warm enough. The toilet/ bathroom. Extremely cramped. I had to lean to inside whilst going to the toilet. When the water is running, a device fixed to the sistern, emitted a pumping sound and there is a pungent smell( gas?). I always kept the door open, not ideal when using the toilet. The TV did not work properly as the screen did not respond to adjustments for brightness or contrast. Otherwise, the picture would disappear completely. I shan’t make any other comments about the room as I expect you to completely rule out this hotel. The breakfast: Excellent. The only good aspect. Staff: friendly enough. Environment. There are some noisy bars at the hotel front. They kept me awake a fair bit. There’s a station across the road which is only a few stops from the city centre. Good restaurants within a very short distance. Head behind the hotel keeping the railway line on your left.

Location Wise, but not for Kids and Old People

    rating18 Jan 2019

Best Location near the train station, mall and restaurants, you can see it from the Window. But at night its too noisy since there's a bar below the Hotel. No Lift, hall a bit dark but secure. There's a car park in front hotel entrance but its a bit risky. Old Hotel with creepy old decors. Toilet is too small. But they change the towel and clean the it everyday. Breakfast, were not impressed, but the receptionist is really friendly. We have no other choice since its peek season and last minute that we decide to travel.

    Worst hotel ever.

    rating12 Sept 2018

This was the worst hotel I've been to, and I have enjoyed a lot of cheap hotels in countries like Indonesia and Romania. This place was not even cheap. Crappy yellow rooms without fridge and soap, the shower is a joke and the bed was like sleeping on little rocks. The linen was just trash. Noisy from above and from traffic right outside. Cold inside. Not friendly staff, they were rude and looked bored. Not handicap friendly,or for old people with soft legs. Heard that the breakfast was good, but I checked out before the night and found something else.
