Location

This charming hotel is surrounded by 200 hectares of national parkland and situated by a lake. The beautiful, romantic old city of Bremen, with its historic marketplace, the famous Böttcherstraße and the Schnoorviertel are only a few minutes away. The city centre with the River Weser, numerous shopping opportunities, the cathedral, the Bremen city musicians and the town hall is around 1.5 km away. Nearer to the hotel, guests will find the Universum Science Centre Bremen (roughly 1.5 km from the hotel). A bus station can easily be reached on foot within a few minutes (700 m) and the train station is around 900 m away. Bremen airport can be reached in 20 minutes by making use of public transport (about 7 km away).

Facility

7 junior suites, 13 suites, 78 single rooms and 77 double rooms are available to guests in a 4-storey main building and 2 auxiliary buildings. Guests are warmly welcomed by multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. The hotel has wheelchair-accessible facilities and a lift. A fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere. There are a number of shops as well. Guests of the hotel can enjoy various recreational facilities, including the garden, during their stay. Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. A balcony is among the standard features of some rooms. All rooms are carpeted and include a double bed, a queen-size bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. An ironing set is provided for guests' convenience. A direct dial telephone, a television with satellite/cable channels, a radio, a CD player, a DVD player, a plug adapter and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. Bathrooms are equipped with a shower and a bathtub. A hairdryer, a vanity mirror, bathrobes and a telephone are available for daily use. As an extra convenience, bathrooms provide cosmetic products. Guests can also book wheelchair-friendly rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The hotel has family rooms, non-smoking rooms and smoking rooms.

The pool complex includes both indoor and outdoor pools, which are in part heated. Refreshing drinks at the pool bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub offer the perfect way to unwind. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features sun loungers and parasols, is time well spent. Those who wish to stay active while on holiday can enjoy crazy golf and golf. A generous breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. For lunch, guests can choose between à la carte and a set menu. Dinner is served as à la carte. Diet meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and picnics are available.

    Unbelievable that they can call the hotel luxurious with 5 stars and even dare to say that there is a spa area. There are two saunas and a small outdoor pool that was so cold that no one dared to swim in it. Overall the hotel felt old and worn and the room smelled like a toilet when we arrived. Definitely not a 5 star hotel and we will definitely not visit it again. Additionally, we provide a modern fitness studio spread across two floors.We continuously invest in maintaining and improving our property to ensure a high standard of quality and comfort.     Either 4 star or 5 star - but never ever mix the 2 !

    I have been a guest of the Hotel for 42 years. I lament the change of ownership, and most of the old charm was swept away with unnecessary new branding, an very mean costing savings, removal of classical art work, lower quality and bizarre wall paper etc - and the addition of tacky punk type artwork of partially clothed women with price tags. Gone are the room Hotel folders, containing Hotel information about room service, menus and amenities. Instead mention of a QR code where this can now all be found on your very own iphone (assuming you have one) - how convenient for the Hotel. The 3 curtains in my room could not be drawn, and were fixed - thus reducing my privacy. The spa is a mere shadow of its former self, and is why it was found empty. The former snow room, is now full of cabinets, the hot tub boarded over, and the sauna was not hot enough. The Grotto mural in the swimming pool had been painted over..... The good News is that not all the Hotel has been completely ruined by the new owners. But someone in the Dorint Hotel chain simply has no taste, no respect for heritage needs a crash course in "what is a 5 star Hotel" - and at some point a line is crossed when you make too many cost cutting measures. More than anything the Christmas variety show / dinner held in an adjacent tent is gone, and so as far as I can see all the lovely characters that grace and make a 5 Star Grand Hotel. Today, the Hotel seems to be a mixture of old and 3 star Hotel - it should make up its mind either 5 star or 4 star - but never ever mix the two.     Beautiful hotel, shockingly rude staff.

    We arrived at 21:32 after a long drive, exhausted and starving. The restaurant had closed only two minutes earlier, yet the chef and staff refused to serve even a simple hamburger and fries. One woman even turned her back on us while “answering” our questions. The arrogance and disrespect were unbelievable.At check-in, the receptionist gave us a dark, poor room on the first floor even though the hotel was clearly empty. When we requested an upgrade, we were met with another cold and dismissive “no.”This level of behavior is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel of this category. Their unprofessional attitude destroyed what should have been a pleasant arrival.Only the breakfast staff were kind — the rest completely ruined the experience.     We had high expectations of this 5*-hotel, which is one of the ‘101 Besten Hotels Deutschlands’. The impressive building is indeed located in a beautiful park and in front of it is a lovely lake. We had booked a classic room with lake view and a bed with separate mattresses. We arrived at the reception desk 1.30 pm and were given first a room with lake view but one mattress. When I went back at the reception to ask for another room, the receptionist told me that there were no classic rooms with lake view and separate mattresses in this hotel, that is, untill I showed her the reservation confirmation. The second room had the same problem and the third room had no lake view. After nearly two hours (this is a large hotel, and a porter had to carry our luggage from one room to another, through long corridors and several elevators) we arrived in the fourth room with indeed the booked lake view and the right mattresses. Two hours, we could have spent in the park or at the pool…….This room, however, was situated in a far away wing of the building. It was obvious that no guests or staff had been there for some time. There were no chairs on the balcony, there was beer and wine in the minibar but there were no beer or wine glasses. The room had no phone, where there should have been one, a rather surprised staff member told me afterwards and there were stains on the carpet. We were tired, however, and accepted the room. The staff in the restaurants were friendly enough and the food was okay, but the poor treatment by the reception staff, without even a single apology for the inconvenience caused, made this stay a bad experience. And no way a 5*-experience , that is for sure.     Beautiful / dog friendly / electric chargers / old world charm

    Stunning hotel nestled in the middle of the park. As dog lovers who are travelling with our dogs this hotel was just perfect.The pool was a lovely surprise, accessed from inside the hotel this heated outdoor pool is small but perfectly formed with some therapy bubbles and jets and a cute jacuzzi. Lovely and secluded from the park! Dogs loved the hotel and are allowed everywhere - even for dinner. Beautiful terrace, great friendly service, electric charging points, stunning rooms - it’s really very hard to fault this! Dinner and breakfast were superb and served in a beautiful setting with old world charm. If however - you are scared of spiders, avoid the terrace! You are surrounded by trees in the park and the spiders are huge!
