    Great hotel, check in not so great

    The hotel itself is great and in an excellent location, however upon checking in although check in stated 3pm, we were made to wait until 6pm before we could even check in which was certainly not ideal after 12 hours of travelling.     Pleasant stay with good breakfast

    Stayed here early December to visit the Christmas markets. Great location. 15 minutes approx walk to Cathedral area but also had a Christmas market next to the hotel which we really enjoyed. Hotel clean and comfortable.     A disappointing stay

    I booked my 3 night stay at this hotel 10 months in advance, and at the time of booking requested a quiet room and a room with a walk in shower rather than a bathtub (due to having difficulty climbing in and out of a bath). I received neither of those things. I appreciate requests cannot always be guaranteed, but booking that far in advance and being a rewards member, I had hoped I would be accommodated.Despite being at the back of the hotel the noise from trams crossing the nearby bridge almost 24 hours a day was loud enough to be heard even while wearing earplugs. And having to use a shower over a bath was extremely difficult for me. I asked twice if it was possible to move to a different room but was told both times there was no availability. Others have mentioned the sink being in the room a bit strange, and I have to agree. I was staying solo so it wasn't an issue for me as such but had I been staying with someone else I would not have been happy with the situation. Also, I was not recognised as a rewards member when I arrived, nor was I asked how my stay was when I left. The lady on reception who checked me out was one of the people I had spoken to about changing rooms, so I guess she already knew how my stay had been and maybe that's why she didn't ask.There are some positives to the hotel, the breakfast was okay (the seating area struggles to accommodate people at times though). And the lady and gentleman behind the bar who I had a conversation with on my first night were very pleasant.     Ok hotel with some quirks

    Firstly good location beside the museum 20 mins walk from the Cathedral along the river. Room was fine but a bit dingy in parts.     Comfy Hotel Close to the Sights

    This hotel was the perfect base for exploring Cologne and made for a relaxing stay with its modern and quiet location. This hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk to the major attractions in Cologne and many good restaurants. It is not far from the Cologne Cathedral, Hay Market and Old Market and the hotel is a stone's throw to the chocolate museum.The room was nicely appointed and very trendy. It had a mini fridge, coffee/tea station with a variety of tea, complimentary sparkling water, a couple of chairs, a long counter for the sink/desk and a large TV. There is enough lighting for the room and plenty of counter space for our things but we only had an outlet on one side of the bed.The shower was very nice with good water pressure and individual bath products for body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We aren't sold on the scent but felt very clean afterwards. There is a window separating the bathroom from the rest of the room that is painted over but one of the previous guests had made a peephole which was not an issue for us.Staff were friendly and helpful at this hotel. Check in was smooth and they gave us some chocolate and three cards. They did not explain the cards to us but it turns out they can get a complimentary coffee, beer, wine or soft drink at the bar - we did not realize this until the next day but they did allow us to take some fritz cola for the road.The breakfast was excellent. Lots of little unexpected surprises like the herb cream cheese for bread, fresh egg salad, and wild garlic cheese. They had a good selection of hot items with sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, meatballs, hash browns, mushrooms and some vegetable balls. The cold items were good too with a variety of deli meats, cheeses, a muesli/yogurt bowl station. They had some juices, loose leaf teas and coffee machines.We didn't book for amenities but we were surprised with what the hotel offered. They have a rooftop terrace which gives a pretty good view of the surrounding area, a lobby bar where you can relax, a fitness room and a sauna. They also have a welcome station that they stock with fresh fruit, pastries and flavoured water that you can drop in at any time. The art side of the hotel was interesting with a nice open layout in the lobby area that let in lots of lighting and some nice decor throughout the hotel. The hotel has a safe and secure underground parking garage that cost 25 euros for the night when we stayed. Only issue we had with the garage is that it is a bit tight down there and it was tricky to get out because someone chose to park in the area where cars can turnaround.This is a good hotel in a good area and we felt the price was good for our budget when we stayed in Cologne. art'otel Cologne, Sonstige at art'otel Cologne, Powered by Radisson Hotels, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to share your experience with us.
