  Bravo for Hotel Bonn City

  4.5 Stars! Great stay in Bonn. Well-located near the tram station and within walking distance of the river and the city center. The reception is only open in the morning to afternoon. If you arrive after 3 pm, they will give you a code to access the key. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. Breakfast was included and had all the items one would expect.

  We stayed at Hotel Bonn City for two nights at the beginning of December 2022. The purpose for our trip was to visit the Christmas markets, and we could not have made a better choice of hotel as far as location was concerned.From the moment we entered the hotel we received a friendly welcome and were given useful information to make our stay in the city all the more pleasurable.Our room was very clean and comfortable; a lovely bathroom and the added bonus of a small fridge in the room. Although the hotel is extremely central; being situated down a side street means the rooms are very quiet.Breakfast was a revelation; an extensive choice of cereals, pastries, meats, cheeses and cooked items, all available from a well-stocked and beautifully presented buffet.We would fully recommend this hotel for your trip to Bonn.

  Nice hotel but lacks atmosphere

  We stayed at Hotel Bonn City as a family of four for three nights. The hotel is off the beaten path, a bit obscure, and hard to find when you first arrive. From the outside it looks more like an apartment block rather than a hotel. Reception closes at 3pm, so on the first day we had to let ourselves in by retrieving the key from a key box next to the front door of the hotel. This all worked very well but makes it feels more like a Ferien Wohnung (holiday let) rather than a hotel. Our room was very spacious, more like an apartment with a bedroom and a living room area. Beds were comfortable, everything was clean, plenty of space for luggage etc. Like many hotels it felt a bit over-heated, making it a bit hard to sleep at times. Breakfast was very nice, typical German-style spread of breads, cold meats, cheeses, fruits and yoghurts etc. The lady who runs the reception was particularly efficient and helpful with any queries or requests that we made. They get most of the basics right and I would give them a higher overall score except that the hotel lacks any atmosphere. The entrance area is a cramped foyer, the reception is a small cubicle in the breakfast room, there is no bar and minimal communal spaces, and overall it feels anonymous and more like a holiday let rather than a hotel.

  We stayed in this hotel for only one night. The overall experience was really good. It looks quite normal from outside but the rooms inside are clean and nice. We had two good sized rooms which are both clean and modern. There are many choices on the breakfast. All are fresh and considerately prepared. The location is good too as it is closed to public transport and Beethoven house.

  Good thing going for this hotel is the location - it is convenient for the city. Also going for them is the breakfast, which is very good when they do it, but we were there two days and they only did breakfast once. (We got 5€ voucher for a local bakery on the other day.)They also offer parking. We asked for it on booking, but the receptionist basically laughed when we asked about it at check-in and simply pointed out the local multistorey car park. That didn't stop the car park charge appearing on the bill! (I will admit that it was taken off again quite quickly.) The final thing to point out is that the hotel is in a noisy part of the city where one of the local night time entertainments is to drive round and round sounding the car horn. Add that to very hot rooms and it doesn't lead to a good night sleep.
