    Do not book!!!!!

    DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. ITS A SCAM. We arrived at 11pm to find the hotel closed with no signs of life at all. We tried to contact them using the number provided but it was no longer connected. We rang agoda who we’d booked through but they had no way of contacting them either. We had no where to stay, it was -9 and there wasn’t anyway to book another hotel. We had to get the train back to the airport and spend the night there. We returned to the hotel at 9 am the following morning At this point we’d been awake for over 24 hours. The hotel reception was still closed but eventually a lady answered the door and informed us the hotel had been closed for 6 weeks and we should have been informed. We weren’t informed. She finally let us in and said she would try to find out where we were booked in. After over an hour she informed us they had transferred us to a hotel just up the road. On arrival at the new hotel we discovered it was run down and filthy. We cut our losses and booked somewhere else ourselves. We have never received a refund for our stay.

    Friendly staff, very outdated room and bathroom but not terrible. It was nice and quite, very good location within walking distance to a lot of the Christmas markets etc. Complimentary tea, coffee & water which was a nice touch. We were emailed a day before to supply a €200 deposit for damages to the hotel etc, which I believe is ridiculously steep considering the condition and contents of the room. Luckily when we arrived they didn’t ask for the deposit.Overall we had a good stay.

    Terrible hotel which seems to almost run a scam to catch guests and then rebook them short notice

    We learned upon arrival that our family Appartment is not usable and were rebooked into a nearby hotel. That hotel room we ended up in had bunk beds and was not comparable to what we booked. We have ever since tried to get a full or partial refund but are repeatedly told that they refuse to cooperate or even discuss with us directly (we booked via trip.com) Hotel- cmanager, Owner at Dom Hotel Am Roemerbrunnen, responded to this review Dear Mr Pluess,Thank you for taking the time to review your stay.We regret to hear of the issue with your first apartment but are glad that our team was able to find you alternative accommodation at short notice.     Hotel cancelled my family’s 1-night visit 5 days before we were due to check in. A generic ‘payment card issue’ was given as the reason. However, full payment was due at the property. When I tried to re-book, there were no rooms for our size, but there were rooms for smaller groups (we are a family of 5; 2 adults, 3 children aged 11 years.) If you want a guaranteed booking and a bed for the night - don’t book with this hotel!     Did not look like the pictures.

    The pictures on here look fresh and modern, the room we were given was tired, the Toilet smelled like a Public male toilet and didn’t feel clean, we had a radiator in the room that made waterfall noises all night - it was OK but we paid over £200 for 1 night expecting something luxurious but it was not. They charge for the location but there is much better in cologne that I’ve stayed in.
