  Air Con German style

  I have staid at this hotel before and like the place and location. The room is nice, beds are comfy and it was the first really warm day of the year. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was for air con. Now in both our room and my friend’s room all you got was a fan moving warm air around but no cold air forth coming. When we called the concierge he came up immediately (great) but then assured us this is how german air con works (no it doesn’t) and if I had been away from the country for a long time. I suppose they just centrally activate air con when they feel like it and tonight wasn’t that night..so don’t come here in summer.   Highly recommendable hotel for location, space and functionality.

  Hotel is about a 15minute walk from the central railway station, is modern rather than traditional, is well staffed and looked after and our room was large with everything expected there and working. So all good really. The (small) negatives were being locked out our room on the day of departure as the key card was - we were told at reception - designed to switch off at 12 noon / check-out time (though we were back at the room 15 minutes before noon), the main bar being well staffed but still oddly slow with drink delivery, some odd lighting set-ups in the room where, so it seemed, one could not use the bathroom lights without all other lights in the entire room being on too, and the pillows on the bed being simply awful (so thin that even 4 stacked on top of one another was barely enough to count as one pillow for a side-sleeper like me).   This is a nice hotel in a decent location and I’d certainly stay again. The welcome at reception was friendly and checking in was competed quickly. A lot of the corridors and communal areas feel more like an art gallery, but that adds a unique vibe. The room was a good size and comfortable for a three night stay. The bed was large, but made from two singles and separate duvets, which might not suit everyone, but it was comfortable. Electric sockets were present at both sides, the air-conditioning was effective and the lighting had some nice different options. It was nice for the bathroom to have a separate bath tub and shower, which was very large, although storage area around the sink wasn’t huge. The bar on the ground floor was large with really friendly and efficient staff, but didn’t feel the cosiest of places to relax after a day exploring.Overall it was a very comfortable hotel and the location worked brilliantly for a first visit to the city - I’d stay again!

  Amazing stay

  We came all the way from Bali to celebrate my birthday with friends.We stayed in a junior suite and it was just perfect.The service we received from the hotel staff was incredible, breakfast, room service, and specially after party drinks at Harrys NY bar was really fun for all of us.We had to check out early in the morning to catch a flight from Düsseldorf to Barcelona, check out was easy and prompt.Being a kid from Cologne and also being a Hotel GM, the hotel gets all my 100% credit!Well done Dorint, you done a great job PS. the 2 ducks are in our bath room at home and always remains us at the beautiful stay we had at the Dorint.Thank you and we will return on our next visit to home/ Cologne Sandra Weinsheimer, Sonstige at Dorint Hotel am Heumarkt Koln, responded to this review Dear Guest,thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to review us.   Recently had a nice stay here on a city break. Had a great room overlooking the Rhein it was clean spacious. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was very good great selection with gluten free options available.
