    Cheap hostel not a hotel

    What a dump , we were here 1 night only because we changed our itinerary last min and this was available !!!! Omg the hubby got some grief over this one.I felt unsafe after reading the reviews which I only did after we arrived and saw the urine in toilet and shaving scum in the sink !!! I mean what was the point in complaining I put my Bridget jones pants on and just got out of there as soon as possible and returned just in time for bed .Purchase earplugs it’s a great location but with no aircon !!! Hubby didn’t check that either you need to keep window open and it’s super noisy . There were 3 men sitting around downstairs in the reception area , if you can call it that which was odd and off putting !!! If you’re a female on your own don’t stay here . The whole place has nothing positive about it , it’s a cheap hostel at best !!!!

    Almost didn't have any sleep. People yelling under my windows all night long + fire alarm that lasted about 40 minutes in earlier morning. I can't believe I paid for this ! Avoid at all costs ! Only good point is the location.

    My 4th stay at The Arthouse. Conveniently situated near to The Dom, Ludwig and the old town. Everything is easy to walk to and the main station is a few minutes away.Clean, newly refurbished room. Kettle and coffee in room. Comfortable bed. Staff are always welcoming, reception can be busy but they are as you would expect in Germany… efficient!Pop to the 6th floor where the roof terrace gives a fabulous view of the cathedral.

    We made this reservation because of its location close to the Christmas Market and DOM in Cologne. Room was small but then so are most hotel rooms in Europe. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Reception on arrival was very nice and helpful. Key issue was the guest elevator breaking down. We were on the second floor and my wife was a couple of month out of full knee replacement. Stairs not so good but we made it work. Would have been nice to have a second option to the main elevator. There was a service elevator but that was noted as not available to guests. Would I book again? Yes

    Worst hotel of our trip. Room was like a cupboard and very basic with no air conditioning, no safe, drab decoration. Ensuite was tired and the shower tray looked disgusting so we didn't use it. Lift was broken a number of times. No redeeming features unfortunately.
