  Great place to stay in Königswinter

  For a long time I came to stay here because my parents live right next door. I never gave it much thought — it was just the obvious and practical choice - but something happened. There has been this subtle change that really made me enjoy my visit this time. The staff is really nice and they feel happy doing their job. The lobby got a slight upgrade and I feel breakfast did too. Overall I really loved it this time. Thank you for the warm welcome and the attentiveness. I am looking forward to coming back.   What a wonderful experience at this iconic hotel. A quiet hotel, surrounded by the peacefulness of nature. The staff are very helpful, from the receptionist, waiters to the room cleaners. The restaurant is such a delight, with the buffet breakfast having a large variety to choose from. Rooms are thoroughly clean and also the pool area. Several amenities are close.by, such as the tram and also the river crossing. Excellent experience at the Maritim Konigswinter. Would definitely recommend, especially for families like ours.   I spent a weekend for R&R and was delighted with everything about this hotel. The room (a superior double) was immaculate, large and very comfortable. There was a coffee maker (capsules) as well as an electric kettle. Finally a hotel with enough hangers in the closet! Beautiful view onto the Rhein. The bathroom was perfectly conceived, loved the walk-in push-button shower! The staff were very helpful and provided whatever I needed that wasn't already there (bathrobe, bar of soap, shower mat). I enjoyed a swim in the pool (completely on my own) and the food in the restaurant was very good. Good breakfast buffet and a perfect hamburger, which is more unusual than it sounds. The location is excellent with so much to do in and around the area. Boat trips, Drachenfels Zahnradbahn and shops, cafés and restaurants, all easily reachable on foot. If I had one small grumble it would be the lack of English-language TV channels - only Sky News. Not a problem for me, but the clientele did seem pretty international.I will be back, regularly I hope!   Maritim Hotel Konigswinter

  This hotel is in a scenic location, close to the river, Drachenfels and Koenigswinter centre. Reception area impressive, restaurant (and bar when open) typical German decor, everywhere was immaculately clean, there is a pool and fitness area in the basement, which we never got to use.Check in was quick and efficient, and our room was on par with 4 star hotels, spacious, very clean, with a beautiful bathroom and very large comfortable bed. Lots of little touches that went towards the overall comfort of the room. The aircon worked well ( the weather was pretty warm while we were there) as did the WiFi. No view of the river but we could see Drachenfels from our window. We opted for no cleaning as we were only there for a few days, which meant the hotel would give a donation to a children’s hospice, which we thought was a great idea. We were happy to make the bed but the pile of wet towels accumulated and the bin in the bedroom was practically overflowing by the time we left, all we could see that had been done was replenishing the tea/coffee/milk. Staff were efficient but with the exception of the bar man, not particularly welcoming.The bar was hardly open whilst we were there but on our last night the barman lent us a bottle opener, which was very kind of him - the beer in the self service machine was not screw cap.The restaurant - breakfast was OK but evening buffet meal was awful. Tepid food, gristly meat and bony fish. Luckily we had eaten large lunches so really didn’t want to eat much anyway.We were part of a coach party, the tables we were allocated had signs on them and the staff made a point of avoiding us. It made you feel quite unwelcome and we ate up and got out as quickly as we could. We managed to get a drink to go with our food on the first night, with much difficulty, and were never offered anything, be it wine, beer or water. We are aware that the Germans have a problem with their own tap water, which we found absolutely fine, but in the UK most people ask for tap water with their meal, as an international hotel dealing with companies from different countries, the hotel should be aware of this and accommodate this habit.We checked out the night before as we had a very early start, and were charged tourist tax, we advised our coach courier as our itinerary never mentioned this, and it was included in the holiday price. The money was refunded when we handed in our room keys the next morning. Surely reception should have been aware of this?Would we return - no, either here or another hotel in the Maritim chain.

  Perfect overnight hotel

  We booked this hotel for one night after returning from a holiday in the south of Germany. As our car has a roofbox it was too high to fit the underground parking. They were so friendly as to offer us a parkingspace in the suplliersparking. The familyroom had a double bed, a spare bed and a sofabed, perfectly clean and a beautifully renovated bathroom. The restaurant is quite stylish, high standard. We were not so fond of the food . Breakfast was ok.
