  I will start by saying that I've stayed at this hotel countless times in the last two years, but just realized that I haven't written a review (I'm getting behind on reviews). I travel to the Ruhr area on business quite often and always stay at Intercity as long as there is availability.The hotel is close to Dortmund Hauptbahnhof, making it very convenient whether you arrive by train or taxi. As a quick tip, if you're arriving by taxi, just tell them to take you to the main train station (as long as you're not opposed to a short walk). The reason is that the hotel is in a pedestrian area and a front door drop off can sometimes throw off the cab driver. Dortmund is a big city, so be prepared for some "different" folks walking about. The hotel is very clean and the staff are first class. It only took about two or three visits for them to start to recognize me. Check in is very easy and the staff speaks English if your German is as poor as mine. There are plenty of places to sit in the lobby for small meetings or relaxing. There is also a full bar with coffee, drinks, etc. There is also an outside seating area.The rooms are very modern and all of my rooms have been clean. They are also quiet, as long as the windows are closed. If you must open the window, be prepared for some city noises. Now let's talk about breakfast. I've seem some bad reviews about the breakfast at the hotel. I have never, and I'll repeat, never had a bad experience with the breakfast at the hotel. To be fair, I couldn't tell you what the price of the breakfast is. I travel for business and when my reservations are made they are always booked with breakfast. As for the quality of food and cleanliness, this has never been an issue for me. Not so much as a dirty utensil. The breakfast room features coffee, tea, water, and soft drinks. The food includes eggs, sausages, and all of the other normal foods that you would find in a German breakfast room. The only issue that I ever had at this hotel was related to an early arrival. I booked early check in for myself and a group of customers that I was traveling with. When we arrived, early check-in was not available, but this was not the fault of the hotel or their staff. It was a Sunday and BVB (the local Dortmund football team) was playing at home. Most all of the guests from the previous evening stayed until check out (and some beyond) making it impossible for the staff to clean rooms and make them ready for easy check in guests. I only mention this, because this could be an issued on any football weekend. BVB is one of the most popular teams in all of Germany and the population of Dortmund swells on a football weekend.I'll wrap up by saying that you are also right in the city center. You are close to many good shops and restaurants (Check out Wurst Willy if you like a good Currywurst).I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would also recommend it to a friend.   Great location for the train station and city centre

  We stayed here for 3 nights on a football trip. The location is great and the staff are friendly. We only ate breakfast one day. It was nice but a bit over priced. There are plenty of other breakfast options nearby. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Worth a visit.   Best rates for city centre and includes travel pass for the whole city for the duration of your stay during our visit in Aug 2024. Room is large and the bed is good but they can improve on the pillows. Staff are friendly and very helpful and welcoming.   Amazing, Worth every penny, will defo return

  well from arrival the outside area is so clean and tidy, followed by inside is so fresh and tidy rooms are amazing greeted polite n friendly staff.. we arrived early and checked in early and was charged 26 euro but didn’t bother us as room was ready and we just wanted to drop back have a hours rest as was up for a 6am flight from england. we was there for meeting our german friends for a bvb dortmund game.rooms was amazing spacious amazing powerfulshower beds n pillows so comfyit was me and my son 18 years old Petra Bantle, Geschäftsführer at IntercityHotel Dortmund, responded to this review Dear guest,Your feedback is indeed very valuable to us.   Don't rely on getting room you booked

  While the room was fantastic and hotel was of highest specification, unfortunately they had over booked so instead of staying in a twin room they had to create a makeshift twin room by putting sheets and pillow on a small sofa which after falling off twice while trying to sleep ended up laying on floor which was most uncomfortable and didnt enable any sleep at a cost of 250 euros. No sympathy from manager apart from offering complimentary breakfast or drinks which I was unable to accept due to need of catching train and then flight. As already mentioned at check out we are very sorry for the caused inconvenience that the booked standard twin bed room was not available at the moment of your early arrival. Due to the fact that you agreed to get a complimentary upgrade to our highest room category, superior double plus room at the check in. We explained at your arrival that we will prepare this much larger room for 2 persons with 2 separate sleeping facilieties. Indeed we received your feedback at check out that you were not happy with that solution. Maybe we could assist directly in the moment as you realized that the sofa bed was not the perfect solution for you and we could bring then therefore a complete extrabed in the room (and not afterwards). But unfortunately we just got your feedback at check out and i tried to assist with offering complimentary items as breakfast or drinks at the bar.Again i am really sorry that you could not get a well sleep and we hope we will get a second chance to prove you that we guarantee everyone an enjoyable stay at our IntercitHotel Dortmundkind regardsRicky Krausestellv.
