This hotel is located in the heart of the city, just 100 m from the central railway station and 800 m from the Zwinger palace, Dresden castle and the Semper Oper opera house. Guests will find the Altmarkt/Neumarkt area with its shopping just roughly 1 km away and it is also about 1 km to the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). The Grosser Garten park is some 2.5 km from the hotel and it is around 50 km to the Königstein Fortress and approximately 90 km to Leipzig. The hotel lies about 30 km from Dresden International Airport Klotzsche.

Facility

174 rooms, including 19 junior suites, 18 single rooms and 135 double rooms, are located on 7 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and German-speaking staff at the reception are happy to assist guests at the reception desk round the clock. Check-in and check-out are available 24 hours a day.     A very nice, modern hotel. The bed was very comfortable, the room adequately spacious. There was an odd window between the bedroom and bathroom. The hotel was busy with conference-goers. We had the bar nearly to ourselves until the afternoon session got out, after which the bartenders were overwhelmed with orders from the adjoining dining area. Up until then, we had great, friendly service. The breakfast buffet had much variety and was very plentiful. Coffee was good. Again, the area was very crowded with conference-goers. The hotel is in a good location for walking to some historic sites and is very close to a stop for the hop on/off tour bus. Front desk staff was quite helpful with directions and recommendations.

    Pleasant art hotel, weird internal architecture

    Hotel Penck is located at the edge of the Dresden Altstadt close to the Zwinger and the Semperoper. The hotel is named after A.R. Penck, the alias of Ralf Winkler (1939-2017), a dissident DDR artist. The over-designed hotel provides a modern atmosphere. Staffs are friendly.We had a quiet room on the 8th floor facing the patio. The architecture of the room was weird with very impractical furnishing. The room had: a flat-screen TV behind the curved blackout curtain, a curved desk fixed to the wardrobe door, a hot water facility difficult to connect, a safe, and a good twin-bed.The separate curved bathroom was totally impractical with an isolated round washbasin, and toilet & shower in the corners. All was clean. The window can be opened in safety mode. Free Wi-Fi.In the curved restaurant an OK German buffet breakfast is served: scrambled eggs, cold cuts & cheeses, bread & rolls, juices, cereals, fruit, milk & yoghurt, fruit juice & preserves, croissants, tea and coffee.Hotel Penck is efficient and has a perfect location. We had a nice stay. Recommended.

    Staff was good. Location is excellent ( 5 minute walk to the old town). Bathroom was weird...like really weird. Sink was more like a baptismal font...but it worked. Room was a bit warm but very clean. Breakfast was varied and good as well.     Nice hotel - possible health hazard in the shower

    This hotel is very modern and clean. Nice rooms. Great staff. Would have given 5 stars. But there is an issue In the washrooms. There is NO place where you can put your shower gels in the shower. Excepted the bottom floor of the shower itself. As you can see in the photos this is a huge issue for elder people and a possible hazard. Seniors can not bend so far down to pick up the shampoo or shower gel once they are in the shower. And there is no alternative to put them somewhere else. It’s a big risk for falling when you have to bend down so much. The hotel must install small shelves in the shower, so people actually can place the shampoo etc on it. This is critical.
