A nice hotel near Düsseldorf Main station with great service and a fresh feeling!

    rating13 Apr 2026

This hotel is great, with great lobby bar and amenity area, the rooms are quite sparse with no comfy furniture other than the bed which is good. I had a metal stool as a bed side table. The shop is well stocked and the bar food is from a limited menu but good. The rooms are on the smallish side but adequate the beds are comfy and the bathroom is well appointed with nice practical touches that help make a stay easy! Storage for shower items whilst in the cubicle. The ability to cast to the Tv in the room is a nice touch that is taking its time to become standard in hotel roomsI’m a regular visitor to Düsseldorf and this will definitely bump on the list to return!

Brown stains on bed, soggy microwave food, no water, culturally offensive wall mural, horribly rude staff

    rating10 Jan 2026

Downright horrible. Hotel staff signalled no interest in ensuring their guests’ wellbeing. I had the misfortune of staying here on a business trip this past fall.1. Mysterious brown stains on multiple bathroom and bedroom surfaces: I found multiple brown stains on the wrinkled ikea shower curtain. I found similar stains on the bed frame near the headboard under the mattress (!!). Alarmingly, I cannot be sure that this is not excrement. I don’t know what animal stayed in this room before, and I cannot believe that this hotel did not clean this. I had to sleep curled up on the other corner of the bed to avoid the stain, and I tried my best to avoid touching the disgusting shower curtain. I have never felt this disgusted in my life! I started feeling sick when I stayed there… upset stomach, nausea, headache. I really hope the atrocious conditions in this hotel didn’t make me sick. 2. Excessively long waiting times, huge queues, and rude interactions both at check-in and check-out: one might be tempted to think that this happens because the hotel is large and busy, but that would be wrong. I travel internationally for work about 2-5 times a month, and I have stayed at many other large and busy hotels before. I have never experienced such long waiting times anywhere else in the world. This suggests that there is a procedural and/or staffing problem in this area that this hotel is simply failing to solve. I noticed that many guests seemed to experience problems with the hotel, which led to prolonged discussions with the staff in every single case I observed. Staff at check-in was particularly rude, dismissive, and disinterested, which immediately convinced me that flagging any issues to them or complaining about any problems during my stay would be counterproductive. I normally would try to reach out to find a constructive solution, but it became clear to me that this hotel would not be interested in providing an enjoyable experience. It was obvious that any attempt at feedback would be futile.3. Bad value for money, severely limited amenities: every aspect of the guest experience in this hotel reinforced my impression that the hotel was trying to reduce costs to the absolute maximum, no matter how uncomfortable this is for the guests. There is no water, no tea, no coffee in the room. You have to buy everything separately in the lobby with the sullen staff. There is no minibar and no fridge—if you buy food or beverages outside, you have no way of cooling them. There is no wardrobe whatsoever, no clothes hanger (terrible if you’re in town for work and want to hang up a suit/shirt without wrinkling them), just three hooks on the wall. There is ONE combined soap, shampoo, and conditioner—while i have seen something like this in other cheap hotels before, this one smelled particularly atrocious—a sickly-sweet, fruity, artificial scent that smells like a discount soap in a car garage toilet. My hands felt dirtier after I used it. I had to disrupt my work day to head to town to get different soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Terribly inconvenient. All this left me feeling that the hotel was trying to squeeze every last cent out of guests while providing as little as possible in a very obvious, aggressive way.4. Racist, tokenizing wall mural on the bathroom wall: puzzlingly, the bathroom features a huge Japan-themed mural including stereotypical and offensive imagery (a Geisha, random Japanese characters, cherry blossoms). Clearly this hotel is stuck in the last century and thinks that non-Western cultures are simply there to be exoticized and brutely displayed in the most reductive, out-of-context way possible. I strongly recommend reevaluating your hotel’s design choices in a culturally sensitive way (please bring in external input for this, clearly your own team lacks expertise in this area).5. Food at this place is a complete scam: I arrived in the evening and discovered that the hotel is relatively far away from the nice, safe, walkable part of Düsseldorf where one might find exciting dinner options. It is close to the train station, but in a dodgy, dead area—literally the wrong side of the tracks. So in order to avoid a hassle and an unsafe situation, I ordered dinner at the hotel. They were advertising multiple pasta and rice dishes on big posters. I ordered chicken avocado linguine. After a pretty long wait, I received a laughably tiny portion of indiscernible brown slop, featuring three tiny pieces of chicken, no avocado, and one fist full of hard, inedible pasta stuck together. Worse than plane food. I paid 15 Euro (!!!) for this. Obviously I sent it back. The staff did not apologize, did not offer a refund, but instead defensively tried to justify this by explaining that these are microwave meals that they have no control over. Nowhere was it advertised on their menu that I would be paying 5x the price of what is essentially a supermarket-quality microwavable ready-meal. I was shocked. I had been traveling all day without eating anything, and now I was confronted with this ridiculously low quality and deceptively-advertised food. The only option was to get another version of the same sad microwave dish, which was similar to the first one. Obviously, I learned from this experience and did not book their horribly overpriced and apparently terrible 17-Euro-per-day breakfast. I heard other guests complain about it. Every interaction with this hotel feels like a scam! Lucky I didn't rate this 1 star...

I'll start this review by saying that, oddly, I WOULD stay here again - if not on a coach trip. For a coach trip this hotel is absolutely NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.For Independent Travellers:It's in an ideal location, on a mainline route for easy train travel, and not too far from the motorway. The rooms are quiet, with no noise, the beds are comfortable and the shower was really great with excellent water pressure and was quick to heat. The continental breakfast was plentiful, and the staff member checking you in for it was very pleasant. It's for these reasons I would stay again, assuming there was no form of early check out.For Coach Trips (Leger/Shearings):BUT. I stayed as part of a coach trip and I have to be honest for other people also taking that same trip who are assigned to stay here. Staff at reception are rude. They barely spoke above a whisper, ignored you, hardly spoke English (but clearly understood it) and also declined to respond when you spoke to them in German! Despite our trip being advertised as bed and breakfast the hotel refused to provide breakfast on the final day (I will say we were departing at 6AM and their breakfast opens at 6.30AM, they DID open at 6AM for another coach), until our drivers pushed back when they agreed to make us breakfast packs. I spoke to a man on reception the night before and asked for just a plain roll as I don't eat cheese. He finally said I'd have to come downstairs at 5.30AM to request that. I went downstairs at 5.15AM to request that, the new person on reception didn't have a clue what I was on about, disputed that the breakfast packs were for my coach, then said he'd need to ask permission for me to have a cheese-less roll. 5 minutes later he called me over, told me none of the breakfast packs had cheese. I then confirmed this in English AND IN GERMAN and was told categorically there was no cheese. The rolls were cheese and pepper, and cheese, salami and pepper.... I would therefore NEVER trust this hotel with a dietary requirement of any severity. The fact that the coach drivers expected breakfasts to be provided but had to argue for them suggests to me the hotel over-promised on what they can deliver, and as I said they are not fit for purpose.--Dies ist ein stilvolles Hotel mit einem guten kontinentalen Frühstück. Die Zimmer sind komfortabel und ruhig, und die Lage ist gut. Solange Sie nicht mit dem Bus früh aufbrechen, ist es bestens geeignet.
