Quick stop, easy stay, great transport links

    rating01 Apr 2026

A very short stay this time — less than 12 hours between arriving and leaving — but enough to get a decent impression (and I did pop back for a quick beer before my train, which worked out nicely).Staff were friendly throughout, and I really liked the bar and restaurant area: nicely decorated, with a bit more character than you might expect, and generally a pleasant place to spend some time. The location is spot on if you’re travelling by train. Being close to the south entrance of the Hauptbahnhof made things very easy, and you’ve got underground, S-Bahn, trams and local trains all within a short walk — hard to beat for connectivity. One small point, more of a suggestion: during my stay there was a local public transport strike. I ended up waiting at a tram stop, ticket already bought, without realising. Maybe I missed a sign, maybe not — but a heads-up from the hotel would have been genuinely helpful and would add that extra touch to the overall experience. All in all, a short but positive stay — and a very practical choice for a quick stop in Düsseldorf. Marianne Pirkhammer, General Manager at Leonardo Hotel Dusseldorf City Center, responded to this review Dear sam_hawkins_1972,Thank you very much for your detailed and thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear that, even during your short stay, you were able to enjoy our bar and restaurant area and found our team friendly and welcoming. It’s also great to know that our location proved convenient for your travels — especially when time is limited, easy access to transport can make all the difference. We truly appreciate your suggestion regarding the public transport strike. You make an excellent point, and we will certainly take this into consideration to improve communication in such situations and enhance our guests’ overall experience. We’re glad you chose to return for a quick visit before your departure — that’s always a good sign! 😊We hope to welcome you back again soon for a longer stay.Kind regards,Your Leonardo Hotel Düsseldorf City Center- Team

    Family holiday

    rating11 Mar 2026

This Leonardo hotel is a few minutes walk to the Dusseldorf main train station. The large train station was so good to get everywhere and you could go to Amsterdam from here too !! The staff were all friendly and polite at this hotel. The breakfast was good, hot :bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages and cold items, bread,Cold meat, fruit and Nutella too.but after 9am it is not always topped up again.Breakfast can be added to your room rate at €17 per person. There is a small bar and a small area to do your computer work too.The hotel is on a quiet street although not too good to walk around at night in the neighbourhood. The rooms were a good size, warm and comfortable beds.Fresh linen towels daily..The city of Dusseldorf was a great place with lots of things to see and do.We got the Dusseldorf card plus to get around the city.Lots of walking so pack your trainers.. Travel convenient hotel!

Near Düsseldorf Central Station, very convenient for travelling, nice restaurant and free refreshments at reception. It looks clean in the room, but the pillows were not good and in the room, you received water and slippers only as requested. One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.

    rating04 Aug 2025

I stayed at this hotel for one night during a business trip to Düsseldorf. The next morning, I woke up to find bedbugs in the room. I immediately went to the reception to request a room change, but the staff were completely unhelpful. They kept stalling and told me their manager was on holiday, asking me to come back later. In the end, I had no choice but to check out and find a new hotel on my own — which was incredibly inconvenient during a work trip.To make things worse, since I was busy with meetings, I could only file a complaint with Booking.com after returning to the UK. By that time, the hotel had already closed my booking, making it difficult to submit a formal complaint. I even can't gave a real review on booking!I still have video evidence of my conversation with the front desk, as well as clear photos of the bedbugs in the room. This place is not only poorly managed but also unhygienic. I would strongly advise others to stay away.

Hotel perfect for our long weekend

    rating28 Jun 2025

We visited this hotel for a city break and stayed three nights. We had an early morning flight so arrived at the hotel a few hours before check in time and thought we would ask them if we could leave our bags. We were very surprised when the receptionist said our room was ready and we could access it right away. The hotel, in my opinion, is in a very good location being so close to the station. Our room was on the sixth floor at the end of the corridor and was therefore very quiet. The room was very spacious even though it was classed as a comfort room. There was air conditioning and a small fridge and enough storage space. It had a king size bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom was a decent size with a mirror that didn’t steam up and a good shower. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food. The receptionist who checked us in was nice and pleasant. Marianne Pirkhammer, General Manager at Leonardo Hotel Dusseldorf City Center, responded to this review Dear Keeto69.Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your long weekend with us and that your room met all your expectations, from the comfortable king-size bed to the spacious bathroom and quiet location. It’s great that we could accommodate your early arrival and that our staff made a positive impression. We hope to welcome you back on another city break soon!Your Leonardo Hotel Düsseldorf City Center
