    Beyond basic

    rating20 Jun 2024

Pretty poor experience. Room smelt of cigarettes and there’s basic and then there’s just bad. Mismatched old furniture. Had to sleep with the balcony door open because of the smell. In a nice area and walkable to the main city. Everyone helpful enough but wouldn’t recommend.

    Happy with the basics

Me and 2 friends were happy with the overall quality, location, value for money and cleanliness of the hotel. For this trip it really was a place to shower, sleep and plan the day from and it ticked all those boxes.Staff were friendly enough and we had to have a bulb changed in the shower room that was done in 5 minutes.

Appalling, Black Mould, No Care for Guests

    rating18 Jun 2018

Upon arriving at the hotel on the first night (Sunday) of our 3 night stay, we were greeted by a really lovely, English speaking woman. She was smiling, cheerful and made us feel very welcome. We were checked in quickly and given the key to our room which was on the basement floor. The room was clean and bright but unfortunately it was a twin room when we had booked for a double bed. My partner quickly went to see the young lady on reception, who after a conversation on the phone to her boss, gave us the key to another room, with many apologies. The new room that we had been given was actually not just a room. It was a 3 bedroom apartment with a balcony, a kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge andFreezer etc. It was really very nice and beautifully clean. We went to sleep happily and comfortably that night - we were travelling a very long way by several trains from Denmark to Frankfurt and so we were tired and aching from the journey, grateful of a comfortable bedThe next morning, at about 10am, I tried to use the washing machine - it wasn't pulling any water in, was just spinning. My partner was still asleep, so I went downstairs to ask if there was a trick to making it work. The lady on the reception was different to the one from the night before and did not speak any English. Unfortunately, I speak very limited german and so we struggled to communicate. In the end the lady took out her phone and pulled up google translate, asking me to type in my question.I wrote "washing machine isn't working"Her reply was "laundry nearby".I didn't know what to make of this and so went back to my room. Within about 10 minutes, the house keeping lady let herself into the apartment and handed meSome clean towels and then left. No knock beforehand, and I was a little puzzled. I still didn't know how to use the washing machine for our clothes?Nevertheless my partner and I started to get ready to go out. Not long after, the non English-speaking lady from reception came up to our room, without knocking or ringing the bell (I will note that our apartment had a working doorbell to it) and let herself in. We were half dressed at the time and it was quite embarrassing. With no apology she started speaking to us in German, despite me having told her earlier on that morning that we don't unfortunately speak German. She got her phone out and I saw that she had WhatsApp up. She started walking around our apartment taking pictures of things like the televisions, with her phone. We were just stood there, half dressed, unsure what was happening. Then she just left the apartment. This made us very uncomfortable that people could just let themselves in without asking us and do what they like, expecting us to understand. That day, we went and began to make use of the facilities, we bought fridge food such as raw bacon (to cook on the stove), butter, ham, cheese, and milk. After all the stress of the morning, we had a nice day and a comfortable second night. However, the next morning we were rudely awoken by the doorbell of our apartment (they actually used it this time) It was the non English speaking receptionist. She told us that her boss was downstairs and wanted to speak with us. Still half asleep, and a bit confused, we got dressed and went downstairs. The gentleman who I assume is the hotel owner was extremely rude to us. He told us that they had a double room available now and needed us to move out of the apartment we were in as we were costing them too much money being in an apartment rather than a room. We were a bit agitated about it as we were now settled in, and had bought food for the fridge. We were not told on our first night that we would need to leave the apartment at any point during our 3 night stay. I asked the owner how much time we had to move our things, hoping for a couple of hours as we were just about to go out for something to eat. The boss said that we had to move everything immediately. Even more agitated, we went upstairs to pack our things. Within 20 minutes the receptionist lady came upstairs to check if we had moved all of our things yet. When she saw we hadn't she told us we had 5 minutes to leave the room. When we got to our new room we were appalled. It was dark, dirty, smelled like stale cigarettes. We didn't have a double bed - it was 2 single beds pushed together. The whole reason we were moved the first time was because we didn't have a double bed, and this room was worse than the first! It was scruffy and small, the beds were uncomfortable. We lost the main part of our last day in Frankfurt due to moving all our things and re unpacking, resulting in us missing our scheduled plans for the day. My partner went directly to the owner and brought him to the room to show him the black mould in the bathroom, the fixtures hanging dangerously off the wall above the bed, the loose electrical socket, and also pointed out the non-double bed issue. The owners reaction to each individual issue we showed him was "it's fine", "don't worry about it", or in the case of the black mould smell in the bathroom "just leave the door open for 5 minutes and the smell will go away". Thoroughly appalled. I would never recommend to anyone, and will never be staying here again - obviously.

Nice hotel in a quet area

    rating23 Apr 2018

We had a room on the ground floor on the side of the street. But it was quiet during our stay (2 nights), perfect! It's easy to get to the hotel by car and we were allowed to park the car at the hotel grounds. Otherwise you have to park on the street and it could be difficult to find a parking spot. There are many good and cheap restaurants nearby and it's just 7 minutes walk to the underground train system. The room was spacious room and the bed was good. The bathroom needs soms maintenance, but was still OK. The normal price of the room is a bit steep. But we had a good discount and that;s why I rate the hotel with 4 stars. Otherwise it would have been 3 stars.

    Bad experience

I am very disappointed. Woman behind reception desk didn’t speak English. Bad air, really poor breakfast, difficult to close door to bathroom and so on. I will go there NEVER again. One star just for location.
