    Not what I expected

    rating16 Jun 2024

This is a boutique hotel where at least I do feel it's gone too far. In the rooms the centerpiece seems to be the sink and the shower is open towards the room which makes it feel like you are sleeping in the bathroom! It worked as I was alone, but sharing the room with someone had felt strange.During the two days I stayed there there was no cleaning/housekeeping in the room, I'm not sure if there would have been if I had stayed longer. Also there was no real good desk to sit at if you have the need to work. The breakfast was fully vegan which made me lack some basic items that I had preferred such as egg and cheese. The bar on the top floor was really nice, but in total this is not a hotel I would choose again.

Lots of surprises but mostly not positive ones

    rating07 Jun 2024

This place was full of surprises... not all of them good, though. The room layout is curious: tolerable for a solo traveler, but it would be awkward for more than one guest. It's almost like the room is a big bathroom that has a bed in it. The shower is completely exposed to the rest of the room: no door, no curtain. At least the toilet next to the shower has a door, though one wall is just frosted glass. Between the toilet/shower and the bed is a metal structure that has shelving, a rod with hangers and the bathroom sink; the sink is accessible from either side. That could be handy, I suppose, but the mirror is right over the middle of the sink and gets in the way when using the sink for tooth brushing or shaving. I found no way to plug the sink drain. The hot water had good pressure but the cold was just a trickle. There was a bracket holding bottles of shampoo and body wash, but it was not mounted to the wall. It was on the shelf, alongside what appeared to be the two screws that would hold it to the shower wall if there were holes to screw it into. It's like they never got around to mounting it? The room had no coffee maker, water, minibar/refrigerator.... not even a glass. I asked about a bathroom glass and was told they are not provided; I could use a glass in the communal kitchen on the top floor. I borrowed one for the duration of my stay. I figured housekeeping might reclaim it... but there was no housekeeping at all during my stay. The TV had no international channels, and fewer then 20 channels overall. These are all pretty basic things I would expect in a room at this price point. On the day I arrived, there was an affair in the 6th floor open-air space. The next day... their leftovers were still sitting in the kitchen. The elevator was probably beautiful when it was new; the walls are sheathed in copper. But it looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time: the copper has smudges and fingerprints. The breakfast buffet (and the restaurant overall) is vegan. I've never seen a German hotel breakfast with no meat, cheese, eggs, (dairy) milk or butter. I'm sure there are people who appreciate vegan options, though here vegan isn't an "option." The breads, fruit, cereal and coffee were all fine. Some pluses: the bed was very comfortable; lighting was good; plenty of power outlets; the shower had hand-held and "rain" showerheads. The location is a quiet street but just a block from a street with a tram line, affording easy access to central Frankfurt.

Horrible horrible night and no response from management!!!

    rating05 Feb 2024

I've never left an awful review before - but I think this is the only way to get the attention of the hotel management. We stayed in August, it's a lovely looking place - but when we returned at night our room was flooded with a substantial leak from the air conditioning system. We were told that the management was "aware" of the issue. It was bad. And I'm not high maintenance, but the floor was absolutely soaked. We were told that all the other rooms that didn't leak were already booked.Someone then came to move us to another room - noting that it had the same problem with leaking a/c from the ceiling - but that "at least the floor wasn't wet". Well, the new room soon became that wet! This was about 11:00pm and we were tired and jet lagged, and just wanted to sleep! But the water leaking from the ceiling onto the concrete floor (and then onto the towels we put on the floor) was so loud we couldn't sleep. At all. All night long.At 3:30am I went down to the front desk, and was told that I should contact management to get a refund for the night. We are owed a night's sleep!!The next day, we were comped coffee and a croissant (great, thanks) - but we still need to be refunded for that one awful awful night. This is terrible service! Don't rent out a room that you know is substandard!!!We are not asking for a refund for the first night we stayed - when there was no leak, just for the second night. We received an email saying we can stay an extra night at the hotel for free in the future. No thank you. This is NOT customer service, it is greed. I have emailed back to say that is not acceptable and have heard NOTHING.Also - in the crush to move everything from one room to another on a different floor, I left expensive sunglasses and medication in the first room (we were tired and cranky!). I've asked for them to be returned and said I will pay for their posting - but again have heard nothing. Again - this is not customer service from a place that prides itself on being cool. Awful awful service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!!! LINDLEY LINDENBERG, Sonstige at Lindley Lindenberg, responded to this review Dear Catharine,We are sincerely sorry to hear about the terrible experience you had during your stay with us in August. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we assure you that we take these matters very seriously.First and foremost, we want to apologize for the inconvenience and discomfort you experienced due to the air conditioning leaks in both rooms. This is certainly not the level of service or quality we strive to provide to our guests, and we understand how frustrating it must have been for you, especially after a long day of travel. We assure you that I have personally addressed these issues with our maintenance team to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. Every guest deserves a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and we are truly sorry that we fell short of meeting your expectations. As for your misplaced items, please reach out to us directly at reservations@thelindenberg so that we can discuss your concerns further and arrange a more satisfactory resolution. We will then follow up with our housekeeping team to locate your sunglasses and medication. We will do everything possible to return them to you promptly, and we appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter. We would like to extend a heartfelt invitation for you to give us another chance to make things right. Once again, we apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience you experienced, and we hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust and welcome you back for a much-improved experience in the future.Best regards,Lisa & Team LINDLEY

Lovely hotel let down by the lack of hot food.

    rating16 Oct 2023

We had 6 rooms here, the check in was good, staff very friendly and rooms nice. The breakfast buffet ruined the whole experience for our group. There was a nice buffet, but no hot food, we couldn't even toast bread! The restaurant wasn't even open in the evening, so no hot food then either. If they offered hot food this would have been perfect for our business stop off. No longer than one night though as it is located nowhere near anything.

    Lovely place - all vegan

    rating15 May 2023

Wonderful place to spend a few days and enjoy plant based deliciousness. The room was nice and spacious enough. The sink is uniquely located in the middle. There is a mirror above in the middle of the sink. That’s impractical as you always risk of bumping your head. Gorgeous roof top terrace that you can use all day until 17:00. After that it belongs to the bar. You can stay but will have to order from the bar. There is a community kitchen next to the bar that you are free to use to prepare food, use the refrigerator, dispense filtered water, and use the coffee machine. We enjoyed the all vegan breakfast buffet, the hot meals from the menu, and the various coffee drinks they make to order. Friendly staff, clean place. We also enjoyed the proximity to the river and the trail along all the way to downtown. Train, streetcar, and subway station all close by! There are restaurants and supermarkets, including Alnatura, within few minimum walking distance.
