Arrivial first impressions nice , checking in only to be informed that lifts not working and we had a room on the 7th floor which is 14 flights of stairs , after some dicussion moved to a room on 3rd floor 6 flights , lower quailty no mini bar no refund or discount offered , Room clean but out of the 70s , resturant under staffed, fellas run ragged but food was good and reasonable priced, bar quite exspensive , breakfast was a good choice however coffee etc luke warm , day 3 we find out from manager lifts been off for weeks yet not told till we checked it ?, night 3 internet off so could only eat in resturant if you had cash, luckly im old school and always carry cash, again staff working hard , hotel.could do with some TLC better hotels for the same money

We travel regularly through Basel and have stayed at the Carathotel previously. It is not a quality hotel, but sufficient for a one night stop over. But when we visited on May 23 it was obvious the place has dropped standards very, very badly.1. We went to the restaurant on the first floor. Shown to a table - and then ignored. When a waitress was asked why we had been left she said "we are too busy". Astonishing, especially as the diner was barely half full.2. We were placed in a room on the 8th floor reserved for people with dogs. As soon as we went into our room a large dog started harking in the room opposite which set off other dogs. Complained to reception who said the noise would be checked. A refund, so we could go to another hotel, was refused.Appalling management to put so nany visitors wiyh digs in adjacent rooms. A blundering mistake by the inept management.

Excellent hotel close to the freeway. Fine rooms with all the necessities. Clean and comfortable with nice beds and interior. Looks doll from the outside but you’ll get surprised when you get inside. Modern facilities with a nice restaurant and bar. Even meeting facilities and a nice sauna area. The restaurant has a Mexican style, with great food. The breakfast was splendid. Nice and smiling staff. Parking area close to the main entrance. Absolutely worth a stay when you’re on the move.

The breakfast here is amazing - the selection is huge and it was being constantly replenished. It really was amazing. Spacious car park front hotel, no problem at all finding a space. Close to motorway too. New looking bathroom, main room was a bit dated but clean. No fridge or kettle in room. Bar staff lovely and welcoming.
