Marvelous stay in Freiburg, Germany at the Mercure!

I had a beautiful stay at Mercure Hotel in Freiburg. I was there on Business, but had plenty of time to wander the beautiful and very clean streets of Freiburg. The people at Mercure Hotel were some of the Best I have ever encountered in my extensive travels. For example, everyone at the front desk were both extremely polite and helpful. I cannot thank Tina Taube, Yunita Arisanti (I hope i have the spellings correct) and others at the desk enough for helping me to navigate best restaurants, local shopping and tourist locations in the area. The hotel itself was everything you might expect and hope for at the same time. It was clean and comfortable. I loved the terrific overhead shower option that worked with the push of a button after simply setting the temperature dial. This was the best shower head of this type I have encountered. Well done there, Mercure! Thank you for the best hotel stay in a long time! I hope to return. The room is relatively small but the location is 100% excellent. It is right by the edge of the old town, perfect if you are driving. The hotel doesn’t have parking, but it shares the same building as a small shopping mall (Karlsbau) where you can park for Euro 22 per night. I have attached the parking rates, correct as of Dec 2025.The hotel is right by the Schlossbergbahn station. A supermarket (Edeka) is in the next block. Surprising hotel, 3 star with almost everything at the right place. From the breakfast with very good coffee for the sort of hotel chains, to parking, location (very close to old town), 24 hour service . Great location, big room

Our wheelchair accessible room (323) was very large and the wet-room bathroom was very good. The hotel location is excellent: a short stroll to the cathedral. Parking is under the hotel and reasonable in price. There's a nice park across the street. The bed was very comfortable but we didn't like the pillows.The only issue we had was with the air conditioning. On arrival the room was very hot (it has large windows that get a lot of sun) and the AC failed to cool it. The otherwise friendly and helpful staff could provide no answers to this. Finally I downloaded instructions from the internet and discovered that the air outlet was not adjusted correctly (it needs to be horizontal) and the unit was not in "high power" mode. Once I fixed this the room cooled and we had no further problems, but I think the hotel needs to be more aware of the potential problems. Nice option in Freiburg oldtown

Stayed 2 nights on a recent holiday. Thr hotel's location is great. Right at the cathedral and old town district. Tram 3 stops close by if you're arriving by train. The hotel is old and it shows with few old elevators and visibly worn carpets. The rooms are kinda small, but amply sized. We had a twin. Beds are singles, but the mattresses are good. Bathroom is decent in size. Nice rain shower. No ref in the room is a miss. But there's stores nearby so relatively easy to stock up. Look for the large REWE that's close. Breakfast is the standout. WAY better than what you'd expect from this type of hotel. Overall good value for money justified by great location, very good breakfast and beds. Mark down for the little tired look of general facilities like lobby and hallways.
