  The location of this hotel is right on the Reeperbhan and it is dodgy...............lots of homeless communities and the entrance of the hotel is right beside some kind of 'club'. Did not feel safe. Room was tiny and smelled - had to open window on arrival as I was retching with the smell and looking out directly to the main Reeperbhan.

  centro hotel City Gate Hamburg

  Visiting Christmas market and stayed here.Hotel is basic and definately not for families.Staff were nice but although fairly centrsl was not across from train station there is 2 centro hotels although one close to train station looked even worse.Breakfast is basic mostly rolls meat cheese etc and cereals adequate enough.Room was clean we were given family room so 4 beds only 2 of us.We used extra quilts under us as mattresses basic.We were not expecting ritz but if you are this is not for you.There are lots of clubs nearby and ladies offering services.There is a police station close by but would notrecommend taking children into area. Hamburg and markets were great but if returned would pay extra for better accommodation

  We stayed 1 night in this hotel. It has a great position just infront of the central train station.The room was very clean and we had a good breakfast.Ideal for a night stop over because of it's central position.

  We spent one night at this place as everything in Hamburg seemed to be booked. It seems that there was an Ironman competition on. As mentioned before the entry is a joke! Having to get suitcases between restaurant customers was not a good start. The lift is tiny and so is the room. But that’s not the worst of it. 30 plus degrees in Hamburg and not even a room fan let alone airconditioning. Quite frankly it was the worst nights sleep I have ever had at a Hotel. The only way to survive was to wet a towel and drape it over me! The room was unbearably hot and stuffy. The first check in man (at another place down the road) was pleasant and helpful. However the man at the reception at Centro was not all pleasant. It appeared that we we a bit of a nuisance to him getting a key! Do not stay at this hotel.

  Modern touches in an old building

  This hotel is opposite the Central station and is thus a little noisy if you are on the lower floors. I also stayed at the Novum Continental a few doors up and thing that has the edge... not much in it tho. The bed was big but very low and you couldn't walk round it without banging your shins. Otherwise absolutely fine, with free breakfast.
