  Horrible, run don't stay.

  This was the worst hotel ever. Steep stairs to get to elevator, then more stairs to office. Door was locked because the street out front is unsafe. Dark hallways. No air-conditioning, too noisy to have window open. Room itself had old dirty carpet and mold on shower tiles. Don't stay here....

  Budget Hotel that was surprisingly good!

  I'll do you a big favour and tell you to read through reviews carefully before making a conclusion. Hotel Lumen is situated in the St George Area of Hamburg very close to the Station so makes it an ideal place to stay if you intend heading out for the day on the ICE trains. Yeah, it's a lively area but where isn't nowadays? I felt 100% safe in the area because it seems to have a sense of community. Now, I'm only basing that on the couple of nights I stayed there. The Hotel itself is literally a 5 minute walk up a busy street to the Station so I hardly think you're going to be a victim of crime in that short walk! It gets very lively in the early hours so if you like to sleep with a window open, bring your ear plugs as I do! The Hotel itself has 24/7 reception so no problem checking in late. The rooms are basic (hey, you probably paid around 50 quid/euros/dollars a night to stay so what do you expect? I was very pleased with my room. The bed seemed fine and clean and the bathroom was clean and functional. I didn't take the breakfast option so can't comment. Overall ill say this. As a budget Hotel it did the job with knobs on. The sounds from the street are interesting sometimes but as I said, tell me any other City Centre that doesn't have a rough area. It has a Penny supermarket directly across the road which is well stocked and cheap! All in all, I'd defo stay here again if i ever had to come back to Hamburg. It's a thumbs up from me!

  Avoid Hotel if with Family or senior citizens

  Hotel is in a place which is not safe at night. Be prepared to climb 40 steps to reach Reception. Remember you need to carry your luggage as hotel staff will not help you. It’s very near to station and lots of eatery around. Rooms are just too small. Breakfast does not give you much choice. Better options available outside.During night street is infested with drunkards and sometimes with unsocial people elements.

  I had a reservation for the night of January 6th, 2025 Booking Reference:4810486187 but upon my arrival at the hotel, I encountered an issue where no one was able to open the door or assist me in any way i called many times . I waited for an extended period, but there was no response or assistance provided. this is worst hotel in my life.

  Booked this hotel, they took reservation and money from creditcard, 1 hour later hotel canceled the reservation (reservation made trough booking.com) due technical dificulties. 12 hours later haven't returned the money and rooms all the time available to book. Be carefull with this place!
