Location

Located at the heart of Hamburg, this city hotel lies within a short distance of restaurants, bars, shops (in the Hanse district), the congress and exhibition centre as well as the River Alster. The nearby Jungfernstieg train station offers links to many locations within the city of Hamburg and may easily be reached in just a few minutes walk. Facility

The hotel has 14 junior suites, 34 suites, 33 studios, 42 single rooms and 82 double rooms, which are located on 7 storeys and are reachable by lift. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe and currency exchange service. Wireless internet access (for a fee) allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Rooms

    The location was excellent for the Christmas Markets. The atmosphere on check-in was not warm and friendly. It really put me off, I expect a pleasant welcome, this was not. On entering and leaving the hotel everyone barely acknowledged us. The room design was not to my taste and the door numbers resembled prison cells. The corridors were not too noisy but people are thoughtless and like to bang doors! The room was spacious though and the bed comfortable. It was cleaned very well daily. The bathroom was too small for a studio suite. There was no space for toiletries.Coffee and tea was not replenished but water was which was good.Bar staff were pleasant, food and cocktails good. Hated the decor the hotel is really out of touch with style I'm afraid. They got this badly wrong throughout. Restaurant was almost always empty. Room service was fine. The price was far too expensive generally and I would not stay again on that basis alone.

    A wonderful couple of days at the Renaissance Hamburg Hotel—stylish, comfortable, and perfectly located. Our room was adequate for our needs and quiet, the beds incredibly comfortable, and the staff genuinely warm and attentive. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of fresh options, and the central location made it effortless to explore the local area on foot, including nearby neighbourhoods and charming Christmas markets that added a festive highlight to our stay. A relaxing, fab experience that felt authentically connected to Hamburg.

    The front desk was very helpful in finding me another room, as the first room I was in was quite noisy due to a strange buzzing sound in the bathroom.Breakfast was included which was nice, there is a small buffet section and an omelette station. I did notice a mouse run through the restaurant — hopefully it was just a one off. It otherwise looks very clean and well presented.The hotel is only a few minutes walk from a train station by the riverfront, which makes getting to/from the airport fairly easy (and much cheaper than an Uber).

    Nice Room, Poor Environment, Over-priced Breakfast

    I stayed on the 5th floor. The bed is nice and the room is well furnished. The bathroom and everything else is good. What is not good is that the past three nights, the occupants in the adjacent rooms have been super noisy. The first night, there was a hall party it seemed and there was some massive person walking around in steel toed shoes it seemed. The second night was actually fairly quiet with little noise past 11 pm. The third night there is a three ring circus next to me with screaming kids and a family playing some type of game. I am not the type to complain to management. I just won't ever stay here again.Also disappointing was the lack of urgency for the restaurant to open at 6:30am and provide basic food options such as the omlet station, pancakes, French Toast and traiditional German sausages. The cost of the full breakfast is 36 Euros. I think it was worth about 10 Euros this morning as none of the mentioned options were available even at 7 am. For those here on Business travel that have a tight meeting start time the lack of attention to detail to the breakfast was disappointing as the full service wasn't available when I left the restaurant 30 min after opening.

    The only plus of this hotel is the location. The service is frankly bad, typically German, you could say. I should have stayed at the Marriott. To begin with, the receptionist in the "best" German traditions asked for my passport. The roo is nothing special. Cleaning is so-so, there is a thick layer of dust on the light bulbs (see the photo, since the light is on, it may seem that there is not much, but at least it is clearly visible that it is there). There was an exit to the roof, but it is not equipped at all, just rubble poured in. There is no plug socket in the bathroom, as far as I remember, this is not allowed by local regulations. What is a hair dryer doing in the bathroom then? And yes, of course, there are sockets in the room, but here's the problem - there are no mirrors in the room at all, not to mention near the outlet. And how are your guests supposed to dry their hair, by touch? Right at the lift for all the evening anf night dirty crockery left. The Bricks restaurant is only open until midnight, even on Friday and Saturday nights. It is not surprising, judging by the people I met, the main guests are elderly Germans with their wives, they go to bed at 10 pm. I came back after midnight, I did not know the restaurant's opening hours, the lights were on, the door, including the outer door, was open. There was an employee with a phone at the entrance outside. I asked him if the restaurant was open, he gestured to his phone. Okay, you are no longer working and are busy with personal matters. Then do not stand at the entrance in uniform. As I said, the service is absolutely disgusting. I forgot my power bank in the room, called the reception by phone, the only ray of light in this dark kingdom was Nick, who gave me the lost item number and an email for contact. I wrote to them with a question about the terms of return on May 19, today is May 26, no response. I called the reception again the other day, a rude man said that he wrote down my phone number and they will call me back during the day. Guess if they called back? That's right, no one called.
